Playing Card Plethora / Re: NEW DECK - Black Artifice
« on: November 28, 2012, 04:53:49 AM »

Lordlupus, have you never heard of Cyber Monday?  If you haven't, what rock have you been living under for the past fifteen-or-so years?

Not sure where that comes from. Have I insulted your boyfriend at E?

Running a purchase price linked gift-tier program is to entice more purchases to hit higher tier reward. Launching this program with a lot of hype and following up with a substantial discount 3 days later will unfortunately create a negative reaction for customers who have bought your products in the first 3 days. This is normal business sense.

You either run the tier program and discount together over the 4 days like TBC or you run the discount scheme without a tier program like D&D. Customer satisfaction should always be the key driver for a consumer product business.

Instead of blaming consumers for not knowing that a company may spring an unannounced discount scheme a few days after a tier program, perhaps you should critique the company's strategy for doing so in the first place.

Thanks Don for explaining something I already know which is not linked to the undesirable business practice I was commenting about. And thanks for assuming that I am as old as your intellectual age. I am crawling under my "rock" now, please find other 15 years old board members to pick on.

Playing Card Plethora / Re: Smoke and Mirrors v7
« on: November 26, 2012, 06:51:32 PM »
Does this mean that the twins are messing around with us and after all there is a new S&M deck?
Now I'm confused!

V7 is the Deluxe set with 6 decks. Carbon is the new coloured, the other 5 are reprints with modifications with the cards. All 6 decks are V7.

V1-3 are 2 decks each. V7 happens to be 6.

Just posted on Facebook. Thought you'd all like to know.
"FYI, for Black Club members. We're looking into a way to allow you to purchase a couple of extra Artifice Black Decks. We need to find a way to limit the quantities in our system. Hopefully it won't take longer than a week to get this implemented, we'll let you know. - Brad."

That will make the Black Club membership more enticing for sure.

But what's up with giving the 15% on CyberMonday after a couple have spent $$$ on Black Friday? That is a slap for early supporters.

I like the deck, at least the card faces are different and unique. Will get some for my collection. If the uncut is out, I will be going for that too.

« on: November 06, 2012, 09:32:11 PM »
Just ordered a bunch of Aurum stuff. Can't wait to get them. The decks look beautiful!

Hey Paul, I'm the one who ordered for delivery to New Zealand. Please pack them well  ;)

I am happy that I waited. Now I can buy the nicer Treasury Edition at reasonable price instead of been screwed by flippers or fellow board member.

And the best part is I do not even need to buy the normal edition.  :bosswalk:

Box looks cool, but I'm a bit disappointed that the main teaser tag line is about the tuck box. I'm a playing card collector, not a playing card tuck box collector. The teaser is giving me the original Monarch vibe...

I like my Pr1me cards, so this is a must have for my collection. Hope to see more designs coming out from Pr1me in the future.

Me likey. Simple and minimal. Cool looking court cards. I liked the Sentinel design so I guess this deck appeals to me too.

Will be getting some for my collection.

I truly am fine with the, 'spend x amount of dollars and receive a free deck' method... It's a win / win for the collectors and the company... Those who really want the deck have to shell out a bit more than they ordinarily would, but they get some additional decks... The people serious about the deck will not mind spending some extra money... These days, given the current climate in the market, anyone shouting, "No fair, I should have the chance to get my White Monarch, Gold Crown, & CARC Skull decks for $15 each" is thinking unrealistically... Happy collecting to everyone and may you all get the decks you want without breaking the bank...

I agree and support jmrock's point. You want the rare deck? You gotta pay more to support the designer.

I am fine with auction as well; more money for the designer.

I hate first come first serve or lottery. Seriously guys, I see a lot of "collectors" buying up the rare decks and then flipped them on evilbay to screw the real collectors. Why should the flippers earn from having the fastest Internet instead of the designer who has spent time and effort to produce a work of art?

What's Black Label? A new White Lions?

Must be the first time an uncut is launched before the decks are out.

Playing Card Plethora / Re: Why the Hate for One-Way Backs?
« on: September 05, 2012, 08:45:54 PM »
As a collector, I have no preference for one or two way backs, as long as the design looks good. I am not a magician or cardist so I just appreciate the visual beauty of the card backs in my collection.

When playing poker, I will use regular Aladdin or Bicycle decks since any other decks will be viewed suspiciously by the other players. With money involved, you do not want to be accused as a cheater.

Design & Development / Re: Surge Deck Design -- Looking for Feedback
« on: July 12, 2012, 08:11:35 PM »
I don't know another way to say it, and I don't want to hurt your feeling, but just simply... No...

Everyone and their grandmother seems to want a deck today... Did you see the recent Steampunk deck?  The Ornate Deck?  Take a look at the two of them, and then look at what you're posting above and just stop...  I don't need to get into specifics... It's just really, really awful... It's really enough already...

Dude, the only way for a designer to learn and improve if you are more constructive and SPECIFIC in your criticisms. Just because you like the Ornate or Steampunk (I hope you are talking about Steampunk Heroes) decks doesn't mean ALL of us think so as well. Some like details, some like simplicity. Some like sci-fi design, some like skulls n bones. And this current design is no way close to the Ape sh*t design that you were kicking sand at (which I wholeheartedly agreed with  8) ) Everyone has to start somewhere.

I like the new back design posted and I prefer surge in corners numbered fronts. I personally do not like borders but I cannot say whether I will buy this deck since the gist of the deck will be in how you design your Jokers, court cards and AoS. If the design is strong in those cards and the theme makes sense, I am down for a couple.

It is an adventure following your channel hopping, but what to do? You make good deck reviews  ;)

Playing Card Plethora / Re: what im getting for DOTM
« on: June 11, 2012, 12:25:26 AM »
I am certainly not signing up for DOTM once my current one expires.

I had the impression that I am getting newly launched decks from D&D or at least T11 (due to their relationship) when I signed up and all I have gotten were not up to my expectation.

Where are the Plaid or FCJ or Chinatown?? I don't even mind Charity Water. I am not talking about expecting a MC2.

Bee Squeezers? Gold Bee? A.Bandit???  :-[

Love this deck! I like decks that tell a story and makes me want to learn more about the theme. Backed at lightning speed!

Playing Card Plethora / Re: NEW DECK-The Grid
« on: June 10, 2012, 10:13:21 PM »
The Grid is more successful in their KS initiative because of the promotions 4PM keeps on running that enticed backers to increase their pledge amounts.

The $7 per deck promo and the add a clip promo added excitement to the project, even though there is no stretch rewards to achieve.

Tendril and Vortex had relatively passive KS runs. Tendril competitions create awareness to the KS project so there are more new backers but there is not much marketing to persuade existing backers to up their pledge amounts.

Stayed up till 3am NZ time to try for one deck. Gave up at 5am when I collapsed face first on my keyboard from exhaustion and frustration.

I'm not trying for it again. Will get it off the secondary market.

I don't get it, the original Monarch had been panned by most of us last year and now T11 changed the color, you guys see it as the second coming of White Cents?

I thought there are more sheep in New Zealand. I was wrong. Enjoy the manufactured hype.

Am I really the only one who's having trouble with this??? $35 shipped for five of the most mediocre, basic, nothing decks... No design elements whatsoever... Oh I forgot - A minimalist approach - give me a break... Studied Art History... Been to all the Museums in NYC dozens of times and the Louvre twice...

Is this what I waited for the House of Playing Cards for?  For them to pimp their ridiculous decks?  And I do not read one critique in these posts... not one?  Just collector after collector talking about how much $$$ they're giving HOPC for these silly NOPC... Which stands for what exactly? NO (Design) Playing Cards, NO (Effort) Playing Cards? I'm going to go with NO (way in hell am I giving a dime of my hard earned money to these @$$) Playing Cards...

Really? No one's with me on this one???

Hahaha... the design is so minimal that I do not see it as paying $4.50 for a deck of cards. I see it as paying $4.50 to buy a lottery ticket for a chance to win a Jerry's Nuggets.  8)

At least the price is not $10+ a deck for so little customization. So they are quite practical.

Playing Card Plethora / Re: New deck ?? hell no !! new seal :D
« on: May 07, 2012, 11:30:45 PM »
Let's see now... as a collector myself, I should pay $37 for a deck with a seal, so the seal costs $30 alone because it is limited to 100. I will not be buying a brick of FJ since I have bought a brick previously. Then I should buy a DB $350 leather clip because I need the best clip to protect my normal FJ deck with a very expensive seal and I will be the envy of all because, you know, I have a DB collectible whateverskin clip and a rare seal that everyone else apart from the 99 of you don't.

Pop $250 for a MC2 uncut where famous magicians who most of them I do not recognize signed on, defacing the beautiful card faces to hang on my wall and I am set.

$637 in total. Will I be envied?  ::)

Question: which printing company did you use to manufacture this deck please?

25
Pardon my ignorance, but how much will it cost to produce a deck like the Curator with USPCC?

Does having a different face on every card add to the cost of development from USPCC side? (I am assuming that there will be additional cost on the printing plates development)

Just curious...
