I love these just as much as I thought I would.

Has anyone besides me noticed that the backs are one way? Was that on purpose I wonder?

It's kind of subtle but easy to see once you've noticed. Hmm...

It's a nice art deck, though the art's not my preferred style.

Wm. Blake b. 1757 "largely unrecognized during his lifetime" and maybe thereafter.

I don't feel like the rims on my car are large enough for me to own these cards.

Funniest thing I've read in a long time.

6
Some nice decks here, I've picked my favorite :)

I feel so triumphant. Off ebay - I was the only bidder - Italian seller. Can you believe it?

OMG. You made me go and count......

Six active, 24 to be delivered.  I'm only posting this because Will & James fessed up to more.

And even worse I've just bought my first expensive (to me) deck on ebay, one that I just had to have.

They've been listening. From an update today -

"We have recognised that the shipping will be prohibitive and have accordingly amended our offering to include FREE SHIPPING in USA."

That did it for me, I think this deck is beautiful but I just couldn't swallow the cost before.

Pop one of the feet off of the bottom, drill a small hole in the center of where that rubber foot was and push pad up with the drill bit
Those are instructions from our worker who makes the pads."

Breathtaking. Thanks for sharing this. The word (is it a word?) "flim-flam" comes to mind......oh excuse me. Marketing, I meant to say.

Hey, there's a lot of information packed into that deck. I'm not sure who would need that information besides Kalashnikov collectors, but still.

Maybe that's why this deck has a strange fascination. It is kind of comforting in a way.....Things could be worse. I could be collecting Kalashnikovs instead of playing cards. The video makes the link quite explicit.

(It would be worse for me because it would cost more money, and a crazy person might get hold of them. I'm not saying anything bad about (non-crazy) gun collectors.)

Doesn't matter if they make there funding goal or not.

Quote
These cards are in stock and ready to ship. Pledge now and we’ll send you yours as soon as the funding goal is met.

I would assume anyone that pledges will get them regardless. This is listed on both projects.

Sure sounds like it - but boy is that confusing. Why have a goal then?

They don't/aren't glow in the dark.  (For some reason that I probably should not look into too deeply [ but is probably something like ooh...shiny], I've pledged for these.)

Excellent, I'm in.

Requiem was way too disturbing for me. I have tender sensibilities, and the Queen of Hearts was ... Ack.

But the level of artistic unease in these is just right. I'm glad to be able to buy something from this artist, I think he's really good.

Interesting. I don't associate Belgium with inexpensive goods.....

thanks Tom!

Thanks, Mike! Guesses welcome. I've added a couple shots of the tuck, the other edges are just the red design. At a guess, these may have been bought in a Marks & Spencer in London in 1967 or 68. Or maybe handed out on an airline en route (??) As you can see it's been pretty much beat up.....It _does_ seem odd, the lack of info on the tuck. The AofS is very plain.

Anybody familiar with this? It's my only older deck, maybe from a family trip to Europe in the 60s or early 70s. The tuck box says "Made in Belgium" and "The Royal Pavilion at Brighton" and nothing else. The kings are all gouty and the queens have a (much milder) Hotcakes flavor, the courts are kind of cute. The deck is small (bridge size? I really don't know).

I've had it forever (long before the collecting mania hit) and while it's probably not very interesting to you august personages I've finally gotten my nerve up to ask about it.

...

I tried to use the snipping tool to save and rotate the image, but the freakin' mouse on the computer at work is broken - can't select an area or multiple items, just one.

Wait, wait. You WORK?    ::)

(I'm just jealous....don't mind me.)

I always open mine -  except for a few decks where I've ended up with more than one, or a color variant. Gosh darn it, I like to look at the cards and play with them.

With these I bought one (lucky enough to catch the first 100). Then I slept on it, happened to be nonlinear (Can you believe this autocorrect????) online when they were generally available, and bought another one.

So one will be opened, and one saved unopened for trade or sale.  Something new for me.

Playing Card Plethora / Re: Flame Fractals in Spades (KS)

I pledged for a deck too because I'm a fan of fractals.  I did an undergrad thesis on fractal geometry many years ago (computer science major and math minor).

The high-res versions are amazing, and I'm willing to put up with some loss of that, so I signed up too. I was physics and math, and I remember when fractals got popular.

Not to mention the psychedelic stuff......

It's so fun when we can use our kids as excuses for something we really want to be doing.    :)

I've sure used mine as an excuse to put a few little sets together. The parts are a lot more interesting than they were back in my day.....and I think the mini figs are great.
