Title: An honest inquiry
Post by: xela on March 14, 2012, 10:05:27 PM
I am considering eliminating uncut sheet bundles from the Harlequin Kickstarter to leave more room for other stuff. If I do that, I'll sell a very, very small amount of uncut sheets at a larger price.

However, I would only do that if the interest in the sheets was low enough. With the clips I am designing with CC, the Ex. decks, and some other stuff, is dropping the dough on an uncut worth it to you?

On the flip side, if I produced uncuts in a greater quantity, maybe that would make it easier for some of you to cross the $100 thresholds for free Ex decks.

There are currently over 30 bundles on the KS, and I am trying to wind them down to make the process more streamlined for people. Removing uncut sheets removes about six bundles.

Honest answers only please, as to whether or not you would buy an uncut. I can't use a hypothetical answer along the lines of "Well if I was one of the people that wanted an uncut, I definitely would vote against cutting their quantity!"

Lastly there is the issue of making something insanely unobtainable, which  is what would happen if I cut the number down to 5-10. I don't want to do that in a way that would drive people to buy my product more quickly. It makes me feel "dirty" saying "Only 10 available!" and seeing people buy them just because of the number and not because they genuinely want something to frame or display.

I'm not sure if you'd consider this a hypothetical answer, but what are the "other stuff" you'd be making room for?

While I do not have a kickstarter pledge, uncut sheets always seem to be a funny thing. People either love them or hate them. They tend to be a little harder to store and you have to be careful as not damage them. Just my opinion.
Thanks!

I don't know what my money situation will be at that time but if I can afford a $100 pledge or more, I am hoping that it will include an uncut sheet and decks. There are many people (like me) that will want them to frame them or just to have. AetherCards is a great company, making beautiful custom decks so I wild definitely want to frame a Harlequin uncut to show off its beauty!

I honestly wouldn't buy an uncut. Decks only.

I would rather prefer something else than a uncut sheet , a uncut sheet is useless you can just frame it there is nothing else to do with it i want stuff that i can use not put in my wall .

Uncuts are overdone right now.

Not a fan of the uncut.  Selling a small amount on the site afterwards sounds fine.

If I'm being honest...

I really don't understand the above quote.  So, you're considering selling less uncuts at a higher price??  Why would you increase the price?
So, if only a dozen people want them, the price will be jacked up??

Why not be the first kickstarter that sells them at a good price, and I think you would sell way more of them!
Why not have a tier just for 1 uncut.  People can always buy more than 1 tier on your kickstarter.
From talking with USPCC, I know the uncuts only cost $5 each at any quantity.

I will buy one if the price is not crazy

Not trying to rock the boat...

I don't care for the uncuts. I wouldn't mind if you left them out.

@CBJ: Because shipping  via Kickstarter is killer. Let's say I sell an uncut sheet for $40 to an international buyer. Shipping it alone would cost, what, $20-40? (I guess I am about to find out!)

I think based on feedback I will leave the uncuts out on Kickstarter and sell a small quantity for a *cheaper* price on the site, that way I can get compensated for shipping, those who want an uncut can get one, and the cost will be reasonable. I'm thinking $20-40 max, probably somewhere in the middle, through the site.

Thoughts?

I wouldn`t buy one, I really like the deck, but I only have 1 uncut and for me buying the frame and all that on top of the Uncut is not something i do alot, Unless the sheet was $10 I wouldn't be getting one.

@Alex at that price if I liked the art enough I would for sure buy one!! I still think it's a good idea to leave it off the Kickstarter. You've got me really looking forward to this!  :D

Other than my own decks, there are VERY few that I'd want an uncut for, and it would be something very "poster worthy" like the Curator (if we ever see that one). While I love card design in general, I have precious little wall space and it would have to be super-over-the-top different for me to purchase an uncut.

I don't really care about uncuts and I'd prefer if the EX decks were harder to get...

Here's a thought - post-KS, sell some plain ol' uncuts, and a smaller number already custom framed for a premium!  Make it a theme-appropriate frame and you'd be selling more than a sheet - you'd be selling a work of art inside of a work of art!

I would agree with the majority here and say that having a lack of uncuts would not really bother me in the slightest. Personally, I don't collect uncut sheets anyway, so a lack of one included in the KS bundles is not much of a big deal to me. I like the fact you are trying to incorporate different items into the KS bundles that would be more unique than what is commonly sold with playing card KS launches.

I don't generally buy uncuts, I'm a complete deck person, so if they went missing, I wouldn't much care.

I will buy uncut sheet when I like the deck design. But it will also depending on the uncut price itself, if too expensive then I might not buy it

@Alex - I think that's a good idea. Sell none on the kickstarter, but sell a few afterwards on AC for those who absolutely want one.

I will be pledging for decks only in this instance, so it's a no for uncut sheets from me.

I have absolutely no interest in uncuts, mainly because of their price. They have always been really overpriced and I'm just not willing to pay the premium. Maybe if one day the prices start to drop, then I could start buying a few. But until then, I really couldn't care less.

I don't really care about uncuts and I'd prefer if the EX decks were harder to get...

why? we don't even know how much the bundles will be with the EX decks in them. 100$ for one to be added in is not cheap.
