These limited edition playing cards, designed by Steven Watson of Turnstyle, are inspired by Lewis Caroll’s classic fairy tale.

Modern styling combined with lavish Art Nouveau and Art Deco ornamentation transport us down the rabbit hole to a surreal world presided over by the Queen of Hearts.

Court cards feature typographic royals with custom suit symbols as crowns.

Attention to typographical nuances, including a bespoke “double” typeface, are evocative of the mysterious parallel worlds of both Wonderland and cardistry—where sleight of hand means that what you see is not necessarily what you get.

To extend the parallel-world-metaphor even further, there will be two versions of the cards. A Players Edition will feature white and gold tuck boxes and uniform white backgrounds across all card faces making them better suited to gameplay.

A Cardistry Edition will feature black and gold foil tuck boxes and card backs with unique floods of black and gold on card faces of the spade and diamond suits respectively

:-\ I'm sorry, but if I saw these, I would not be thinking Alice in Wonderland. Very confused as to how this deck ties into it.

I'm going to get in contact with Steve Watson and see if I can find out more.

The design group http://turnstylestudio.com/work/detail/alice-in-wonderland (http://turnstylestudio.com/work/detail/alice-in-wonderland) created the cards for a school production of Alice in Wonderland. These cards were just one part of the project.

Well, I get that it's designed to go with this school production, but divorced from it, it really loses a LOT in the translation.

BTW: am I the only one who noticed that the proper name of the production - and the decks, according to the print on the backs of the cards - is "Alice in Wonderland Jr." and not simply "Alice in Wonderland"?  Even DeckStarter overlooks this little detail.

That was the plays name.
I agree the name outside the context makes little to no sense , but if the deck hadn't already been created for reasons having nothing to do with Deckstarter.. It just wouldn't be Deckstarter now would it?

I remember reading something about these cards and how they got their name a while back.

Yet another Deckstarter project that's already pretty much a done deal before the project even begins...  This is NOT crowdfunding - this is RETAIL.  Nothing needs to be funded if the deck's already produced!  You just have to sell it at that point!
