Playing Card Plethora / How difficult is it
« on: March 30, 2013, 10:04:10 AM »
For you to decide what decks to take with you if you're going away for a break.I'm going to stayvwith family for a few days and I know I'll hear, "Show us a trick"  anyway, decks I'm taking are:
Aurum
Ritual Gold
Ghost Svengali
Ghost stripper
Blue Crown Svengali
Moonshine my new favorite!
Blue Crown Luxury
Necronomicon
That funny Devo deck with no faces. Can't remember the name lol!
Obviously they are not all magic decks!
So yeah what decks do you take away with you?

Playing Card Plethora / DIY Card clips
« on: January 02, 2013, 04:04:43 PM »
Thought I'd try making a few card clips, these are all experimental but we're getting there.

first aluminium (thats Al-u-min-e-UMM guys, not Ah-LOOO-mi-num LOL!) with spine swage works well and grips the deck firmly:

Second still aluminium no spine swage and a little too tight after applying red felt the clip is forced open by the width of the deck:

Hmm red felt on red close up mat, I thought that through!!

Dammit.... Next:

Aluminium with spade pip sandblasted on through a template, Also has mirrored vinyl back and red felt:

Still flares a bit

Arrgh! turn off the flash

There we go, mirrored back:

Carved out of a solid block of marble....

OK I lied these are mild steel with black felt interior and sticky vinyl exterior. they both work really well:

I don't think Joe Porper Has to worry any time soon but I'm enjoying making these and experimenting with them,

I actually had to make my own mini folding machine to be able to fully bend the metal back on itself with was a nightmare to begin with. Anyway what do you think? be kind, remember they are a work in progress under development!!

And no, they're not for sale!!!....

Playing Card Plethora / The gift of giving
« on: July 16, 2012, 04:01:18 AM »
So, I was on my way home from visiting my mother in Hospital in London (don't worry she's coming home Tues!), on the train I was practicing some basic cuts and flourishes with a Galvanic deck to pass the time. When a young lad sitting opposite on the other side of the train complemented me on my dexterity! Too much time on my hands was my joking reply. So I asked him if he wanted to learn, so he joins me at my table on my side of the train, I hand him the Galvanic and take out a Tendril deck (never leave home without it. So I go about showing him the charlier cut, thumb fan and one handed fan. By the end of journey he was getting good ay the charlier as we reached thw end of our journey I told home he could keep the Galvanic with the understanding that he keeps practicing. He was very greatful and assured me he would.
And at that we went our separate ways. I may never see him again though the town I live in isn't that large so who knows.

But it felt good to know that I may have encouraged another into this hobby of ours!

bored of waiting for decks like Seasons and Mana? Whilst the cards look amazing the sense of excitement and anticipation has vanished.... to be replaced with a "Meh" feeling i don't know if I can even be arsed to buy them anymore

Playing Card Plethora / Lulu doesn't like De'vo's Blades

It was an old worn out deck anyway, she must have nicked it when I wasn't looking and then taken it to her bed for a nibble....!!

Playing Card Plethora / Deck of the Living Dead
« on: February 21, 2012, 02:00:52 AM »
Having it's second go at getting funding via kickstarter.

I know these are not for everyone but I think they are so quirky I'd really like a set.

Playing Card Plethora / Galvanic Deck, Who's Pledged?
« on: February 17, 2012, 07:28:00 AM »
Who here has pledged on the Galvanic Deck?

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1293645903/galvanic-playing-cards-design-by-sean-whelan

I have, I was just wondering who else, as the fund raising seems to be a fair bit slower than the Tendril Deck,

The Galvanic is an awesome looking deck and I'd love to see it get funded this time.

So, with the De'vo Blades Blood Editions right around the corner I've put together two Blades Packs

Each pack contains:
X1 Silver Edition (2nd release with 2011 Copyright info, I have two 2010's but they are opened and not for sale)
X1 White Edition
X1 Midnight Edition

Price £50 per pack, this is of course negotiable and am open to offers or trades. I've priced in pounds as I'm in the UK and would prefer a UK sale but if you are not in the UK and willing to pay the postage then lets see what we can do!

Feel free to reply to this thread but I'll be treating enquiries on a first come first served basis via PM's.

Cheers,

Jez.

Got a free deck though so alls good!!

What stack is this? As it comes:

I just love the box, so understated yet classy and the metallic backs look cool.

Email I just received

Dear Sir/Madam,

First off, we would like to wish you a happy 2012! Best wishes from the
AFPCC and our mother company DarkSleightZ (It's eS productions)!

Hereby the latest news on the Compass 822 decks of playing cards and the
related pre-orders, as ordered by you. You may have already noticed it,
but the cards haven't sold very well. However, there still is some hope to
have the cards produced and sent to you in time, but you are in all rights
to know what is going on so hereby a message explaining that.

This is the last month we have left to have the cards produced. We do have
a couple of sources left to get fundings from but it is a big question
whether this will be enough and whether these sources think it is worth
investing in this deck of cards.

 There are three possible scenarios:

 1) The production goes on and you will receive your order in the end of
this month or in the beginning of February. They will then be shipped by
emergency (express) shipping to be sure you receive them extra fast.

 2) There is a delay for one more month, depending on the external sources.

 3) The runs get canceled and you will receive a refund of the full order,
 including the payment service costs.

If you would not like to wait for your order for another month, you can
choose to cancel it in advance by replying with the phrase 'CANCEL'. Four
months to produce playing cards from pre-orders is actually very common
but of course we would understand this decision. Your money will then be
refunded when the term is legally getting to an end at latest.

However, if the cards will still be produced, they will likely end up a
little more expensive than what you have paid for them. We mention this
just to be sure that you are aware of that and will not regret any
cancellation if you would like to purchase the cards afterwards.

We are legally bounded to the first scenario (1). Therefore you will have
to reply to this e-mail to make sure you approve the delay (2) or later
cancellation (3). Do that by replying to this e-mail with the phrase
 'DELAY APPROVED'.

Please do not worry. You will either receive your order or a full refund.
Do not start a PayPal claim because this means the money will get locked
and no one apart from PayPal will have access to it, which slowes down any
progress (both the production or the refund). We are sure to handle
everything legally and professionally, and provide you priority service to
make up for all the trouble.

Thank you for your understanding and we sincerely apologize for the
 inconvenience!

 Yours faithfully,

 The AFPCC

Introduce Yourself / Please allow me to introduce.... Well... Me!
« on: October 10, 2011, 12:59:11 AM »
Hiya, My Name's Jeremy, Jez for short as typing three syllables is a royal PITA.
I live in the UK, been collecting playing cards for a little over a year now and probably have in excess of 200decks.
Working my way through Genisis and have Devo's XB1 waiting in the wings.

Thought I'd say hi as I've just become a backer of the Vortex Deck on Kickstarter. I have no doubt that the goal will be reached.

Look forward to seeing you around the boards!!

Thanks for reading!!

Jez.!
