Last night I stayed up late playing poker with Tarot cards. I got a full house and four people died.

is the designer being lazy or just simply ran out of ideas. this is just like the 8 bit playing cards but cut down to the bone

There was a pair of trends a couple of years ago - one for cards with pixellated images reminiscent of old 8-bit video games and one for cards of a minimalist design.  It would seem this guy's trying his hand at slamming the two together.  It's like fixing a car with a hammer and a pickaxe...  It's another case of a designer pushing hard to be unique but using borrowed design concepts that don't necessarily gel well together.  I'm constantly reminding designers that "unique" and "good" aren't necessarily synonymous.  This is heavy on the "unique," a bit too light on the "good."
