The Ambras Playing Cards

Quote from: Jeanette Dunnett
My Goal

The Ambras Court Deck and the Ambras Hunting Deck, are playing cards that are from the mid 15th century. These playing cards are currently on display at the KHM Museum in Vienna, Austria. I contacted the museum to see if they would be willing to give me rights to produce sets of these playing cards for the history enthusiast or the living history enactor to use at living history events.

Once again these cards are NOT going to be collector’s cards, they are meant for everyday use. If you want the collector’s editions you can purchase them directly from the KHM website. The collector’s editions are the version that Piatnik made for the KHM Museum.

This is where you come in, I am hoping that you can help me come up with a portion of the $3,000 Canadian dollars to help pay for licensing agreement, and the production of the playing cards.

Design Production

I decided to go with Expert Playing Card Company to print 1000 playing cards. I was very impressed by their printing that has been done on other decks and so they were an obvious choice.

Printing will be done in the USA and so Shipping through a fulfilment service will be free in the USA.

Angelarium Playing Cards

Quote
The Angelarium is a place where experiences, ideas and archetypes exist as real living entities. It's the domain of angels and emanations. Growing at its center sits the Tree of Life, a physical manifestation that reflects the whole of existence.

The Enochian deck introduces us to each of the named angels. Come back here frequently as we will continue to add more during the project:

Antler Playing Cards, our latest project, aims to capture the essence of the great outdoors.

"Yosemite Valley, drenched in the setting sun, is a portrait that can not be conjured even in a dreamscape. Not only do the vistas evolve throughout the changing months, but each sweeping view transforms with every altered shadow. The Park becomes a window to another world."

For us, while there is no better place to explore imagination than the outdoors, the stretch of creativity reaches far beyond Yosemite.

Reprinted: ARRCO U.S. Reg. Playing Cards

Quote
My name is Chris Severson, and I am a magician and card flourisher. I have been dedicated to these art forms for over a decade, and over the years I have handled hundreds of different decks, back designs, finishes and stocks. After all of these years, only one I call my absolute favorite deck of cards; ARRCO U.S. Reg.

My good friend Franky Morales and I want to bring back this deck of cards; one that is so iconic and loved in the Magic and Cardistry communities. A back design that was once (and still is) revered by professional card handlers all over the world. The goal is to not just bring these cards back just for our own enjoyment, but to bring them back for the Magic and Cardistry communities, along with card lovers alike! We have been granted permission by the USPCC to bring these cards back into life once more; but this time, they will be getting an upgrade!

Quote
These ARRCOs are going to be printed on the classic Bee stock. This stock is thick, and lasts for months of continuous use. It is known as the standard stock in high end Vegas casinos; as it can hold up to non stop use at the card tables and still remain smooth.

Quote
In addition to this, we are also having the cards cut from the faces to the back! What this means is during the printing process, the cards get cut out from one big sheet when it comes off the printing press. The direction the blade goes through the cards, either cutting from the face of the cards to the back or the back of the cards to the face, determines the kind of cut. Having the cards cut from the faces to the backs are preferred by card handlers because when the cards are face down on a table, and shuffled from the bottom up, the cards melt together like butter! Cards cut from their backs to the front will have a resistance when shuffled from bottom up.

I get wanting to get a deck re-produced, but this may be the laziest thing I have seen.

Bible Playing Cards

I've seen this concept done several times, and it is always done the same way. Stock pictures, and scriptures. I don't think it's been successful 1 time. I get where these designer's hearts are, but they have no clue about how to do a playing card project on KS. I think part of the problem is they are not trying to get a deck of cards made. They are trying to make something/anything religious.
I think if someone approached this as a playing card project, with the right artistry, it could be successful.

Earth's Elements in Bicycle® Playing Cards- Fire

From the creator of The Æsir Deck.

The Elements series of Bicycle® playing cards, printed by USPCC. The first deck in the series will be Fire, with Water, Earth and Air coming through stretch goals or future campaigns. I'm working in collaboration with Deveo Media, the design firm that produced the art for the Æsir decks from last year. The series' theme is to use names from around the world that take their meanings from the elements to create beautiful court card figures. I've put some examples below.

I'm not sure what is worse. That KS has approved this or that 5 people have backed it. Hopefully the blank decks will cost them more than they get in funding.

Chevron - Custom Playing Cards

2nd of two live projects started   ???   :-\    ::)

Quote
Welcome to Chevron!

My goal with this project first and foremost was to make a deck for cardists. A deck that looks fantastic fanned, spread, riffled, shuffled, spun or anything else you can do with cards. And a deck that handles like a dream, making flourishes smooth and effortless.

When I approach the creation of a custom deck, it is important to me that the deck is truly custom, designed from a clean slate. This means that the backs as well as all the faces are custom made, from the court cards, to the jokers and tuck box. Everything needs to be created as a harmonious project delivered as a singularly unique

After a lot of different experiments and prototypes I settled on the current design which has an exceptionally bold fan display.
