I am not sure if they stopped the sale due to the outcry from backers of the project.  The decks were 4.99 each except for the limited at 9.99.  The accessories are still rather discounted.

I just knew I should have gotten in sooner.  It was really only a matter of time before his backers screamed bloody murder.

  • Kickstarter:
Not sure what the big deal is.  A single deck with shipping was the same as KS pledge.

At present they are.  But a few days ago, the $14.99 deck was $9.99 and the $9.99 deck was $4.99, well below what KS backers paid for them.  That must have ticked off the backers enough to make their voices heard and Erik Dahlman appears to have listened.

Still not sure how a direct $11 deck shipped ($5 price + $6 shipping) > KS $11 shipped.  Maybe if you buy a ton of decks this works out so the shipping is a better deal, but that doesn't scream massive deal to me.  I also don't get the  :-[ it's not that much cheaper (even if you assume multiple purchases) and I'm not sure backers should expect the lowest price for the duration, unless it was promised as a benefit.

Anyhow, I passed on it since even with the 'sale' it was the same as the KS which I also would have passed on.  If I could actually get them in my hand for $5 then maybe.

I ended purchasing stuff as I missed out on the kickstarter project. Glad it became available at this price as for international customers, this was a great deal as it was free shipping over a certain amount.

Imagine you backed a project, helped a guy get on his feet and follow a dream to its completion.  He sends you a product of that dream of his - then proceeds to sell it cheaper to people who didn't back his dream.  As an investor, it might leave a bad taste in your mouth.

Shipping is immaterial in this - it's the perception.  And I think he was and still is having free shipping for orders above a certain dollar amount, which to the backers feels like insult added to injury.
