I usually bring a deck of Alladdins wherever I go since their so cheap and easy to get here. Only if I'm jamming with my friends , then I bring a deck like the White Lions, Tally Hos and my vintage bikes. I usually keep two of each deck and open one. So I have a variety of decks that I can use when I'm jamming or when I'm videoing myself. If not, it'll be the Alladdins. I love Alladdins to death!

Aladdins are pretty sweet.  Have you tried the new Aladdin Domebacks with the air-cushion finish yet?  I got the red and have some blue on the way.

Actually the Domebacks are magic finish.

club special, diamond back, just found out the finish is cambric. and on the flap it says No.92

The vast majority of Bee decks are Cambric finish, diamond back, #92 Club Specials!

I have a few "everyday" decks for when I go out of the house.  The ones I carry the most are a deck of Split Spades Lions blue (the stripper deck version) and the USPC edition of Bicycle Guardians.  They're cheap while still having a nice custom look to them, and I keep spares on hand at home most of the time.  I usually get the strippers for under $5 and the Guardians I recently reordered for less than $3 a pack.

Other decks I like to pocket would be red and blue Tally Ho Circle Backs, my red and blue Bee "casino sample" decks and Karnival Death Heads.  I'd carry the Death Heads all the time were it not for the flimsy box they come in - I'm thinking of swapping them out into a leather deck case.  Strange that a plastic deck described as tough as nails has a box that's barely stronger than notebook paper.

When I go to work or perform at the hospital, I have a cheap camcorder case that looks sturdier than it is.  The padded interior can hold a maximum of about 3 bricks of cards.  I might use some of the space to hold Pure Smoke in a half-brick box.  It has zippered compartments, into which I put spare Pure Smoke cartridges, batteries, WOW sleeves (one gimmicked, one plain) and a dessicant pack.

When I travel, I've been known to carry over a hundred decks in a locked briefcase, or twice that in two briefcases.  Made for an interesting time at the TSA checkpoint in Fort Lauderdale last year!  That's when I was still obsessed about carrying my entire collection.  As the collection has grown, this has become a very unrealistic plan of action; now I would take one briefcase packed with some good magic and maybe eighty or ninety decks I was going to be away for a week or more.  Much of what I'd carry would be trick decks, gaff cards, etc., and there's maybe 20 or so "regular" decks that I'd take to go with them.

I stop using a deck when the cards are worn, filthy, creased, torn, etc.  At least, I stop using them as regular cards - when that happens, they become fodder for torn-card tricks and the like!  Either that or I hand them down to my fiancee's son - my future step-son.

haha i havent seen that deck before notepad paper haha and that sounds awesome your entire colection with you i have and xbox 360 bag its all hard to protect it fits about 2 bricks and the pad bit holds about 6 decks haha what did they say at the checkpoint ? oh cool you hand them down that would be awesome i want cards passing down to me haha congradulations too =D and somtimes i wanna take my colection with me incase a burglar trashes my rooms

The 1880 Aladdins were printed on USPC's mid-range 325 stock, which is used for many custom decks these days. The "magic finish" also was used, although I'd be hard pressed to explain the difference between magic finish and Air Cushion or Cambric.

Get apartment renter's insurance and itemize your entire collection.  You'll be insured against damages and loss.  Been thinking of doing that myself, actually.  You might need a rider added to cover the collection, but you can insure it.  (As well as all the other bits and bobs, like laptops, big-screen TVs, iPads, etc.)

I believe MagicAddictz is right.

As far as the difference between Magic Finish and ordinary Air Cushion Finish, you can really feel the difference in a deck that's been Magic Finished.  The cards really glide over each other very well and handle very smoothly, not just out of the box but also for some time thereafter.  You'll notice more of a difference over time.

In addition, any deck with metallic inks tends to perform like crap unless Magic Finish is used; Air Cushion isn't enough to compensate for the metallic ink's effect on handling.  It's why you see it used so much these days - a lot of custom decks use some amount of metallic inks, be it a little (Artifice) or a lot (Titaniums).

Out of the box, with a non-metallic deck, perhaps he didn't notice a difference - but he will if he compares his deck over time to an Air Cushion deck of the same vintage and use.

 :o Wow.....
You guys can call me plain but I usually go out 4 decks. 1 Tally-Ho for flourishing, a red and blue set of Rider Backs, and a deck of gaff cards. If I feel like it, I might bring a 5th deck. A worn out deck as, as Don would put it, fodder for torn-card tricks.  8)
I prefer hand written signatures over digital ones but the ink appears to be stuck on my monitor screen...

They're also great for throwing at things!  Try doing what David Blaine did - hitting a small target from across the street!  He nailed the lens of a pro-grade video camera.  Didn't make it stick, though...  :))

LoL. I'd pass on that. Last time I did that, I accidentally nailed a dog's ass. Now THAT made ME stick to the wall when it chased me.  :-[
