These are absolutely beautiful!  How much did they sell for originally?  I'd love to find an open deck for sale.  I'm not dropping $200+ for a deck now, lol!

He is adorable.  I am always excited to see a deck that has more whimsy.  Well done!

I have seen the Walgreens decks on ebay (no seal).  Buyer beware!

Playing Card Plethora / What happened to Cardazine?
« on: October 03, 2017, 10:54:52 PM »
I am new to card collecting.  At first I was happy just pinning awesome art from decks I came across, but that has quickly devolved into frenzied acquisitions of amazing decks.  The very first deck that made me say, "I must make this mine!!" was the EXPLORE deck by Cardazine.  I was happy to find it on ebay for $5 (thank you pokerstud52) as well as the Seasons Pass deck, also $5- his second deck produced.  I just wanted to get more history on these cards. I tried reaching out on facebook (since the KS account was deleted). I have seen these decks in other people's collections, so I know there are more out there, but $5 seems super cheap for cards of this quality- was there an issue with production?

I love the art of both decks!
thanks for any info!

Introduce Yourself / Re: I'm new here... and I have a question

Hi Trekkie!
I had the exact same question, regarding the best place to ask- so thank you for asking it! I am also new to the forum, only a few months into collecting, fascinated with cardistry and really bad at it ;). I open all my decks, because I love the art!

Your cards sound like the indigo and coral series from 2015- but with different colors.  Post a picture!  I ran across a purple 'test deck' online that sounds like your deck - but purple and pink... Maybe yours is a green or teal test deck...

Do you have the box?  There are often clues there...

To belabor my point- here is my deck:
Lovely tuck, notable lack of metallic ink on cards (still a pretty solid deck though.)

Thanks for the feedback!  Do you know if the barcodes would be different if there are different editions? OR I could always assume if I'm buying a $10 deck for $6 - it might be a different printing :P

Playing Card Plethora / Re: Old decks for 2017!

Are these the same quality as the older runs?  I got a little bummed out the other day when I picked up a set of Aurora bikes at Walgreens that were not as nice (no metallic inks), as the older cards I have seen on the 'nets. I scooped up the emotions deck a few weeks ago- pretty fun deck!

Related note- have you seen the new Barnes and Noble exclusive Nationals (theory 11)
?  (Green and red).  I'm wondering if they are as nice as the original blackies.

I love this deck.  The court art is amazing.  I'll have to clear space on my 'awesome' card shelf to make way for the whole series.  Also, I am super intrigued by the idea of a pluto surprise.  Nice work!

Introduce Yourself / New to collecting

Hiya!
I'm Leigh, online people call me Chobee.  In real life I am a fitness instructor in the Bay Area.  I stumbled into card collecting 6 months ago when I went on Amazon to try and find some interesting decks of cards for my family's Nerts games (multi deck game).  I was blown away by the number and beauty of all the quality decks being produced today.  I've always preferred the feel of Bicycle decks to other cheapie decks when playing cards- I was just never privy to the variety!  I shortly after discovered the premium market, as well as Kickstarter.  I started devouring deck review videos, as well as magic/cardistry videos. I'm hooked!

My favorite decks so far are the Legacy's Knowledge Deck, Blue Luxx, Theory 11 Union deck, and Dan and Dave's Sons of Liberty.

Edited to add:  Ha!  I must really like birds- I just realized that three of those decks feature birds on the backs!

I was thrilled to find at my local Walgreens, the Collectable Playing Cards "Aurora" deck.  I've always admired this deck, because of the metallic ink used.  When I opened my deck I was hugely disappointed with the quality of the printing, and the complete lack of metallic ink on any of the cards.  The cards still handle pretty well, but they are not at all what I expected.  The tuck case is identical, from what I can tell, to the ones I saw in online reviews.

So, I guess I asking, should I have expected this, since I got it at a mass market retailer?  Is it possible it's a counterfeit (seems unlikely)?

Thanks!!

I picked up this deck a week ago and could not find anything online about it!  It's so fun. I'm glad I stumbled upon this forum (joined today). :)
