Don Boyer:
If you know of a convention coming up that involves playing cards in some way - please post some of the details here!  It could be a trade show, a vintage collectors' club, perhaps even a magic or flourishing con because most of them are associated with new deck releases.

To kick things off:
52 Plus Joker is holding their annual con in Las Vegas this year.  http://52plusjoker.org

Our 2013 convention will be held in Las Vegas from Oct. 16 to 19. The venue is the Tuscany Suites Hotel and Casino located about 10 minutes walk east of the Strip at 255 East Flamingo Drive (http://tuscanylv.com/).  We have a terrific rate at $50 per weekday night and $100 on Friday and Saturday plus applicable Nevada taxes. Those who attended the 2008 convention will remember the Tuscany, its amenties and the extra large suites.

De'vo vom Schattenreich/Handlordz are releasing a sketch version of their "Magicians Must Die #1" deck at the Denver Comic Con this year.

The con takes place 31 May - 2 June 2013 at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, and will cover all kinds of interests - gaming, anime, sci-fi, etc - besides just comics.  Tickets are still available as of this posting and they are seeking event volunteers.  Some volunteer positions include free con access!

I'm really not interested in the MMD deck but I'll be at the con anyway so I'll stop by if I can.

Nurul:
The Lectures And Dealers (L.A.D.s) convention is coming to Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham in the UK on September 29th. Tickets are on sale at the following website

http://www.worldmagicshop.com/L_A_D_s_p/lads2013.htm

I've bought my tickets :) I've been told you get a £10 coupon to spend at the WMS stand if you but the tickets between 1st-22nd September, I haven't received mine yet though, hoping soon.

Anyway, hopefully will see some of you there :)

Mike Ratledge:
I contacted Lee Asher a few days ago to help with planning for the 52+J 2014 convention, which is going to be in Charleston South Carolina - my hometown - and I work less than 5 miles from the venue.  I'm working with Lee, Steve Bowling (convention planner) and Tom Dawson, president of the group for 2014, who I will be entertaining here - along with his wife - in February for a pre-convention look at the Charleston area.

It's an opportunity to visit "America's Most Historic City", the #1 destination in the country for 3 years running according to Condé Naste and #1 in the world last year, and I will be part of the welcoming committee, arranging things starting now for the scouting party that is going to visit in April and to take in the gardens and things.

Anyone wanting to attend will be able to see things like a Norwood 85 deck (one went for $2650 at auction this year), although as Lee said "personally I am underwhelmed by that one". Some decks in club auctions have gone for up to 5 figure amounts, mostly 18th century decks - far too rich for me, but Lee will probably have a JNug to see if you haven't seen one in person.  I'm sure there will be more than one, but - the prices these days are out of sight!

I can easily setup digs at a good rate for anyone as long as you do it way in advance. The convention hotel is the InnPlace Hotel near the airport (http://www.innplacehotels.com/locations/charleston), formerly a Marroitt and an exquisite venue for both the convention and visitors to Charleston. I've "herded cats" at conventions there before.  Dates are October 15th to 18th (Wedneday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday). I'll keep everyone up to date as things develop.

Edited to fix the convention dates: Should be "October 15th (WEDNESDAY) to 18th (SATURDAY) the week before I originally posted... And again to clarify.
