Yes, of course i would give all the credits, expecially i'd love to thank magicorthodoxy that provided a lot of good informations.
Thank you for the links!

@Fess: do they have an email address for that kind of questions? I don't want to disturb any one at work.
Thanks!

Playing Card Plethora / About Stock and Embossing of the USPCC
« on: December 23, 2016, 10:18:19 AM »
Hello everyone, i'd like to write an informative article about playing cards (mainly referring to the USPCC) and I'd love to have some informations.
The first question is about embossing: i've heard that the writings on the box (air cushion, linoid, linen, etc.) are not referring to the actual finish, no longer in use since some decades. I'd like to know if i am correct, and the USPCC applies the same embossing that simulates a pattern for all the cards.
The second question is about stock: the main difference is about retail and casino stock, but i am assuming that refers to the paper itself, for example can i use a particular paper stock if i can afford it? That would influence the cards "feel"?

If I'm asking something that is too technical let me know, maybe i hope i can drop a mail to the USPCC to get some informations about it.

The main reason that i'm asking this is because of common misconceptions regarding card "quality" while the main factor when it comes to buying a deck of cards are in my opinion aesthetics and how the performer handle the cards, and very little is left to manufacturing processes that are about standard.

Thank You for Your help,
Marco

Magical Cardistry Bonanza / Re: Changing Chocolate - my new idea

You gave me a lot of ideas to work on!
i could think of using the box of the chocolates to make the gimmick, and maybe continue the illusion by changing the chocolates through the plastic box.
You're right about changing the items of the magician, that was the purpose of introducing candies and chocolates.
I had also other ideas, like a selected card inside the chocolate foil, or a torn (or eaten) and restored cookie.
This would be a trick AND treat... (ha ha)

the deck is part of the gimmick, but i can transport that to every kind of cover (phone, boxes), or use hands but in that case it would be less clean.
Yeah i meant to do that with candies with different colours, but i didn't have any, so i use the closer chocolates i had in my house.
I'd like to build a routine with that, maybe changing the deck with a chocolate box.
I also like the flower idea, because it brings magic "outside of the box" and uses things other than cards and coins

Magical Cardistry Bonanza / Changing Chocolate - my new idea

Hi Everyone, this is one idea of mine.
I made this video for a Saturday Night Contest on Theory11.

The effect is a "color" change of a chocolate: the effect is entirely mine, so i'd like to have some feedback and some thoughts on how could i build a routine, or even some suggestion on what would you like to see (related to this type of magic)

Cheers!

Thanks mankin!

yes, i understand that.
but on the other hand it's like declaring false: they said they would never be reprinted.
suppose they'll make a v3 white monarchs... would you still consider that deck a limited edition?
NOTE: i'm personally glad they reprinted the deck, now i can own one too, but that lowers the intrinsec value at the same time.
from a collector's point of view of course

So, if i get correctly: T11 said the white gold monarchs will never be printed again.
Then, on the release windows, a V2 version shows up.
Although i'm sure they both are limited edition, it's still unclear to me if they are that rare after a 2nd print, and how many decks they have.
i know i'm annoying, but i like transparency when a company is promoting a product, otherwise could be just be a bait for costumers (this is not the case, but you get the idea).

thanks!
i've bought my decks from pokerstud52, i've seen you guys know him.
the fact that makes me think it exists a reprint it's just that i dont have a double queen of hearts as you mentioned.
i knew that only 4000 blue decks were printed (thank god! those are not good as i expected) but by looking at pictures it seems that the box is slightly different, that makes me think of a second print of those.
just wondering, i've also noticed that beequalitydeck.com (or something similar) doesn't exist anymore, so i cant gather my information by the maker directly. (why the company disappeared? do people got their deck eventually?)

I've read mr. Asher likes that deck, don't know if it's true, anyway i'd like to hear the stories of our friends that have them: what do you like/dislike about this deck?
i'll make a review i guess, when i get all the information

Playing Card Plethora / Bee Quality Deck
« on: May 22, 2015, 09:35:14 AM »
Forgive me: i scrolled the forum several times and i couldn't find a place to ask, so i post here.
I've recently bought a deck of blue bee quality deck.
I want to know more about this deck, why is it good for cardistry, what kind of finish does it have, is it really a limited edition, etc...
Moreover, since i bought on ebay, i would like to know how to establish if a deck is not a fake or a reprint.
yes, i read a "1st edition" on the bottom, but i need your knowledge.
Also, i wonder what's the serial number for...
Those are newbie questions, but i got to start somewhere!
Thanks for helping
