Not really, The Aristocrats are not as smooth on the edges and dont last as long.
People say nothing's impossible, but I do nothing everyday.

Today I found something that reminded me of you. But don't worry I flushed and everything went back to normal.

SM also varies form 1-6
The 1-3 stock and finish hasn't been used anymore.
And the v.6 is the thinnest (in my point of view)

to me the Aristocrats feel similar to Cincinatti bikes.

  • Pick a card, any card...no, not THAT card!

Speaking for myself, I have tried the Aristo reprints and S&M v5 and 6.  Both are nice, but somehow the Aristos seemed like one of the softest decks I've handled.  S&M, if I recall, were a little stiffer, but not by too much.  I couldn't speak for durability right now - I have so many decks I only get to pull any one deck out once in a while.  If I used one different deck every day, it would take me nearly three years to get to all of them at least once.  Even Massas would last me for years under those circumstances!

I think they're quite similar.  Not identical by any means but not a mile off, either.

Then would you guys think that the aristocrats would be a good replacement for the smoke and mirrors?

I personally think that modern USPCC decks are all handle great. If you are talking about using the, I think it's fine either you use Aristrocrat or SM v6. But from collector point of view, v6 are much more famous.

True, but from a consumer viewpoint, Aristos are cheaper and more easily found.

Could you tell us in what sense you want to "replace" the S&M series?  Collection, magic, cardistry, card games?

Collection: any S&M is more valuable than the Aristocrat reprints; the older, the better, naturally.
Magic: either will do fine; Aristos are cheaper.
Cardistry: S&M work well by and large, some think the Aristos aren't as good for flourishing, but there's always the old standby, Tally Ho decks, available super-cheap from T11.  Use cheap Bikes or Studs for learning new stunts and heavy practicing.
Card games: same as magic, see above.

I wa thinking that since they have the same stock, they would handle about the same. I have handled my friends v6 for flourishing before , and I loved them. However, these decks are too rare to use on a regular basis. So I was wondering if the aristocrats were anything like the smoke and mirror series. Hope that cleared the doubts up! I think I'll be picking up a pair soon to see how they feel! Thanks for your help guys!

I have not handled the Aristocrats Reprints so far but the S&M V3-6.
I used them all for magic so they didn't survived one night while performing.Cards getting signed and handed out as souvenirs etc.
The V3' Series was a bit stiffer i can remember that.
They even hardly fitted back into the box after some performances.

For the V5&6 they both handle the same,at least i feel no difference between them.
Both last long when used just for flourishing....speaking of handling a V5/6 one hour a day over 3 months.....they still fan good!

Once i get my hands on the Aristocrat Reprints i will post my opinion comparing them with the S&M Series ;-)
Currently waiting for those decks being released :
- Seasons [Primavera / Seronda]  / Aether [Vortex] / Bicycle [Actuators] / Mana [Oracle] / The Blue Crown - [Altruism] / Encarded [Tendril]

I don't own any of the Aristocrats but I've used them and I have the S&M V6. To me, they don't feel very much a like. But both of them have soft stock.
