I'm starting to see a trend among D&D:

1) Release the Uncut Sheet the Same Day with the Decks

2) Hand Out Decks accompanying each Uncut Sheet Sold

From what I can remember, both of these techniques were first used by D&D solely for the purpose of bringing in more dough. Not that I'm hating of it in any way, shape, size, or form. :D

Getting a free deck with an uncut is never a bad thing.  I'd love to see the idea spread to other designers.

I took a look - I don't see any QR code anywhere.  Can you get a zoom on the pic?

Doing an uncut with an included deck is a great idea and makes for a very attractive package. Compared to the normal uncut cost and the (high) cost of the Chinatown deck, that's actually a great deal.

My friend, and I mean this in the best possible way, but - you are seeing things!  I don't see anything looking like a QR code.  I see the printer's color marks at the sheet's edge, that's it.

OK, now THAT is a QR code...  :))  Could be a link to their website or something.  I wouldn't read much into it.  It's definitely on an ad card.

Really? It looked like it was on the white part of the uncut that would be cut away on the actual deck. Granted it's hard to tell from that picture.

Oh thanks for clearing that up. I don't follow brad on twitter, so I wouldn't have seen that. If what it unlocks is worth while I think that makes the price more reasonable, but I guess we won't know that until we find out what that "unlockable" is. I think I'll end up getting two... maybe three of this deck now.

I finally saw that.
Hmmm, they obviously used the idea of the tungsten deck here.

That it could be!

I think that we will see more QR codes used in decks and whatnot. Whether it be on the bottom of the box or on a card. The QR code as blown up in advertising and is spreading into other areas. I wouldn't be surprised if we start to see it a little more in decks/other magic products.

The more smartphones that end up in people's hands, the more QR codes you're going to see.  Interesting fact: they're designed with redundant information storage - a code can be significantly damaged and still be readable.
