Nine of clubs!

The Rounders actually do have a slightly altered JoD.  The name of Daniel Madison's young child is hidden in the clothing near the face.  He uses the traditional Jack face to represent the child since there's no way to predict future appearance.

I figured having Eli written on the court doesn't really count as custom but I guess if we're being that picky about it, I'll go with the JoD being "altered" rather than "custom."

Either way, I'm looking forward to the next Blaine deck!

I do remember the twins mention they were printing new Ace Fulton's Casino decks that they think were better than the firsts. The first ones weren't necessarily bad. The only redeeming quality of them in my opinion is the somewhat marked back that can allow you to identify the aces. Not particularly useful all the time but still kind of cool.

For me, it's these:
Fund Michael Frömmer's 1616 Silver Bicycle® Playing Cards
The Mirror Deck Gaffed Playing Cards
Asylum Playing Cards
ULTRAVIOLET // Playing cards from beta17

Haven't checked on the project for quite a while.. but I actually received my cards at least a month ago or so. But yeah, I haven't received Asylum, Ultraviolet and Quicksilver, though I am more optimistic about the Quicksilver cards than the others :)

I have also received my Mirror Decks a while ago as well. I didn't back those other ones so I'm in the clear.

Similar to the Rounders, the only court on the Split Spades Silver Edition is the Jack of Diamonds. My White Labels are all in a box at home so I can't check them but I think 11/12 would be considered most. And yes, everything else is standard other than the court faces but I very much prefer that because if you weren't paying attention (an very inexperienced), you wouldn't even notice they were any different from standard USPCC courts.

I tend to fall in line with the trend now and favor thinner borders as well. The tuck box is at least nice and detailed.

+1, the back design looks phenomenal, very aesthetically pleasing.  But I'm thinking the courts will be of a standard nature.

Really weird name, but the back design is quite awesome. Based on other Blaine decks, I would be confident in saying the faces will be very standard. Still, I'll have to get a couple.

The spot cards will probably be standard but the court cards of Blaine decks have been custom haven't they? I happen to have his Split Spades Silver Edition on me and those are custom and if I remember correctly, his White Lions also had custom courts.

Sorry for the double post but I wasn't allowed to post any more pictures so here's the rest of them. The other spot cards are done in the exact same fashion as the eights, nines, and tens. I just didn't want to do another post with just one final picture.

Did a quick search and did not find anything on this deck. I have only just seen it and do not know when they were printed. I think they're kind of cool being one that enjoys video games very much. I really like the full custom deck and tuck box. Everything is done nicely in my opinion. They're being sold on fangamer.net for 15USD each. High price tag and it does not include shipping but I think it's well done. I'm not sure if it is being sold anywhere else.

Straight from the site's description for the deck:
"What have you to lose?
Just your life, and that was free!
Ante up, my friend

This FF6-themed card deck features a face card of every playable main character from this classic Super Nintendo RPG!

56 Poker sized cards
Printed on Bicycle grade paper with embossed finish
Custom tuck box
Gold foil security seal and cellophane wrapper with tear band
Meticulously designed by Lieutenant Art Commander Laura Wilson and produced by the magitechnicians at US Playing Card Company (USPCC), the same company responsible for the famous Bicycle card decks."

Under the "Fellow nerds also bought:" section was a deck called "Cards of Legend" as well that seem to based off of The Legend of Zelda games. I personally do not like this deck as much mainly due to the pips. I like the courts but the pips are too different for my taste. Here's the link to that deck as well:

They stated in their coffee chats that it is definitely not a purple Smoke and Mirrors deck but a collaboration with Juan Tamirez. Something like "he will be joining the Dan and Dave line up."

Correct me if I'm wrong but don't these just go on the smaller walls of the tuck case? Wouldn't that mean that the tuck can still be crushed if pressure was applied in any way other than straight on?

« on: September 24, 2013, 11:18:36 PM »
In other news check out rehandcrafted.com. There are a few awesome custom clips there. You can also choose to put leather on Jamie d grants's vault. Thinking of getting one myself or even asking Ryan(owner of rehandcrafted) to do a chameleon skin one. Just don't know if a chameleon would be big enough for a porper

The selection is limited but those card clips are amazing. I close to drooled before I saw the prices. I understand that they're custom and maybe the material to make them properly is expensive but damn. If I had money coming out of every pore I'd buy these. Too bad they're just eye candy.

A chameleon skin one would be awesome as well!

Ah well that's a shame. I think the Clip Joints were barely okay because of the backs. The Casinos were only cool cause the you can pick out an ace just by looking at the back design. The Chinatowns were just terrible in color. I don't have high hopes for this new Fulton deck.

The Clip Joint back design is very nicely done. The single pip design was tastefully elegant. I like that the ace pip sizes are NOT flamboyantly too large or as large as the AoS. Many companies are trying to replicate that single custom pip idea. None have done it better.

When I said "barely okay because of the backs" I was referring to how the backs ruined it for me. I understand it looks like streams of smoke (a little) but it just doesn't really the theme of a smoke filled clip joint. The design in itself is nice, just doesn't mesh well with the theme. The single pip design is what saved the deck for me.

I remember seeing it somewhere on this forum. But I went back to its original thread and couldn't find it. Maybe see_squared can share it with us as I didn't receive the email that was sent that contained a teaser of the backs.

EDIT: here it is. And the AoS as well http://aethercards.com/discourse/playing-card-plethora/hmnim-playing-cards/

Thanks for finding that thread. I forgot what the back design looked like. I like the octopus. :))

I mean as maybe unwilling someone was to buy a brick just to get that one free deck they thought would never be released any other way, they ended up purchasing a brick anyway. If you're willing to pay for a brick, why complain?

The only deck I have from Aloys is the Red Floral deck that I snagged off of eBay for relatively cheap. I like the design of this deck, just don't want to stress over trying to get every color at really high prices.

These are kind of cool. I like the gold and black (like the Artisans to some degree). Maybe I'll head over to Penguin Magic and pick up a deck.

This deck made me chuckle and in my book, it deserves a shot. I don't really like it very much but these memes just always get me.

Meme-based decks have had a terrible track record so far on KS.  I can't recall one that succeeded.  They're just too topical - the kind of thing that's a little funny now but just looks stupid after a while.

I will agree that I think they'll look stupid after using them more than twice. I guess the amount of funding will tell if people like it or not.

Nothing on that list is really a "must have" for me. At least nothing real special seeing as how they're not selling any decks I'm interested in.

"Up pad" hahaha

But maybe it's supposed to be "Grape Purple"? Looks kinda like it could be as well. Maybe green and purple since they're showing a green deck too.

How many has he released in the past years? I thought he's been pretty consistent with that. Didn't he release half that amount earlier this year?

Half what amount?  We don't know how many he's releasing yet.  His last sale was for a gross, right?

The sale for 2012 - I think that one sale that year was canceled because of the strain it was putting on the servers; too many buyers couldn't get through and only a small number of the total decks were sold.  It's why he changed the system this year.

If I recall properly he normally sells a gross a year. Earlier this year he sold 72 decks if memory serves me right. I was referring to the fact that 72 was half a gross so I was trying to make the point that he is possibly putting up another 72 for sale to make his total this year a gross.

Never in my life have I seen anyone playing cards on their first date.  If I ever did this while I was single, it would have been my first AND last date.  Anyone nervous enough on a first date that they'd need to resort to these would probably also be too nervous to play cards without looking like an idiot.

There is a decent novelty factor to this, but it's better as a fourth- or fifth-date activity at best, and only if your date enjoys playing cards.  And those questions?  Yikes.  Any questions worth asking, you should have at the tip of your tongue on the first date, not printed on a playing card that you read.  The main thing this project has in its favor is that he's using a cheap printer with a low minimum, 'cause there's no other way he'd be producing and delivering a deck for a mere $1,000.

I would agree that the theme of the deck is a novelty but in practicality, it shouldn't be very usable. The design in itself I think is decent though.
