Hi guys!  Accidentally put this in the wrong area so reposting :)

The elusive EMP Monarchs...sigh...

I’m trying to help a new friend locate one, and seeing as I’ve gotten some awesome help here in the past, I wanted to see if anyone can help me/him.  It looks like he will soon have every Monarch besides the EMP deck!  I’m not including the Uber rare first printing that was ultimately destroyed, save for 144 decks.  That one is the Unicorn lol.

So, if anyone has a lead, please feel free to email me so I can pass this info along to him.  I’ll prolly never have the money for the complete set, so I feel honored I at least get to enjoy some of the hunt :)

Thanks so much guys!

Hi everyone!  A buddy of mine is trying to complete his Monarch set.  He’s now searching for the elusive Monarch variant custom printed for Eleven Madison Park.  That will give him the whole set,  aside from the Uber rare First Printing of Monarchs of course ( where only 144 weren’t trashed).

I know this deck doesn’t come around often, but I’m starting my search here.  If anyone knows of one for sale, or wants to sell one, really any lead at all (and wouldn’t mind sharing:), I’d love to know!

Please feel free to DM me if you’d prefer :)  Thanks so much.  I’d love to find it for the guy.  If I can’t afford them myself, the next best thing is helping a fellow card man :)  Thanks guys!

For those unaware...

There’s a incredibly talented chef who either owns or co-owns the incredible restaurant Eleven Madison Park.  I don’t know the whole story, but the chef had Theory11 print them some custom Monarchs.  I’ve only seen the tuck, which is Essentially the Silver deck but stamped with “Made Exclusively for Eleven Madison Park”.  Truly one of the Dream decks for Monarch fans :)

I always make it a point to browse Walmart's Celebrations department for Rider Back Color variations.  When I started collecting in 2015, I learned about the dual Fashion Decks that seem to be exclusive to Walmart.  Something about colors inspired by the trends seen during Fashion Week somewhere (can't remember where).

In 2015 there was Daybreak and Marsala, 2016 had Indigo and Coral.  I'd been looking online for any news on 2017 Fashion Decks, but hadn't found anything.  Last night, in the Celebrations department, I saw two brand new decks.  One is a weird Gold/yellow on black, and the other is a two toned blue, kind of like a dark turquoise and aquamarine.  The faces are what you'd expect from a Fashion deck, the back's colors trickling through the courts and pips.

I've since spent a ton of time trying to get some info on them, at the very least the official "colors" of the deck.  The have thin borders, two full size jokers, a double backer, and were printed May 2017.  Based on how they faro, it also seems like a Traditional Cut was applied, at least on the two decks I've opened.  They were US$2.97 per deck.

I know there's waaaay more exciting decks out there lol, but the Fashion Decks sparked my interest in collecting, so I'll always make sure to keep them in my collection.  I bought those decks before I even knew a custom card industry existed!  Has anyone seen any official news on these?  I've emailed USPCC, so hopefully they'll get back to me this upcoming week :)

A Cellar of Fine Vintages / Unexpected Blue Seal Purchase...1996?
« on: March 27, 2017, 01:20:32 PM »
Hello.  I recently purchased my first few decks of Ohio made Rider Backs.  I opened one deck, and I'm shocked to see a printing code starting with "B".  All the dating charts I can find list 1996 as the most recent year USPCC used that letter.  Is this an absolute guarantee that thisbdeck was printed in 1996?  I'm wondering if I'm missing something here.  There's a card advertising a travel discount that says it expires in 2011.

Being new to collecting, and especially new to any older decks, I'm fascinated with this.  If this deck really was printed in 1996, that's just awesome! Lol. I was 12, and could've been playing a game with my family using cards from this same run.  Plus...the quality!  The feel of this deck is unlike anything else I own.  I have 5 more red decks and one black deck.  I'm trying to find some Tallys printed in Ohio but no such luck...yet.  Thanks!

So, I saw these on eBay and thought they were part of the series put out by Aloys Studio a few years ago that also included 5 other colors.  The pictures were limited, so I messaged the seller and had him clarify that they were not produced by Aloys Studio.  I wasn't interested in that particular deck.  He told me they were produced by a different overseas company.

So I bought them, and upon receiving the deck today, and comparing it to a review by VJose32, they appear to be the very deck I was told it wasn't!  Before I contact the seller about a return, I just wanted to triple check.  I'm pretty upset, especially considering the seller appears to be pretty big time, even having some of his own decks produced under the name "Merz67".

To me, the gold seal and the way the corners fade away on the back of the tuck are dead giveaways these are the Aloys deck.  Thanks for any info.  And if this is the deck I was told it wasn't, I'd steer clear away from that seller.  Either he is completely clueless, or straight up lied to me.  I feel as though it's the latter!

Item:  Tally Ho Circle Back - Black
Minimum Offer: It looks like the original retail was $7, so I guess that's the minimum I'd pay.
Quantity: Depending on the price, I would take anything from 1-6 decks.
Country: USA

Hi!  I'm trying to find the Black Circle Back deck that, from what I've read, was ordered by Murphy's Magic.  The Fan Back version has a copyright date of 2015 on the box, and has no barcode.  They come with two full size colored jokers, a double backer, and a card with poker hands on one side, and the back design on the other.  I'm assuming the Circke Back version has the same ingredients :)

I've found the Fan Back on a bunch of sites, and it instantly became my favorite handling deck.  I've never tried to buy or sell anything through a forum before, but I buy and sell on eBay here and there.  I'd really appreciate any info anyone has on where to find these ellusive Circle Backs.  Thanks!

Playing Card Plethora / Tallly Ho Fan Back's Have Been DISCONTINUED?!?!
« on: January 16, 2017, 04:26:59 AM »
Well, on the Tally Ho product information page over at Bicycle's site there are a couple comments.  One from a customer asking if the Fan Back has been discontinued and another from Bicycle CONFIRMING that they have been discontinued and adding there should still be some available.

I called USPC and asked them about it, was put on hold, then told the Fan Back "has no discontinuation date at this time".

I know I mean nothing to USPC and they don't have to tell me jack squat, but if it was posted on the comment page and then I was told otherwise, isn't it safe to assume they are not discontinued?  The comment was posted in March 2016, so hopefully they've changed plans!

Any information from anyone?

Sorry if this isn't the right spot to ask this question :(

Maybe it depends on the misprint and the deck of course, but for some reason a deck feels more special to me if it has a misprinted card.  I only own a few yellow Bicycle Cyclist decks that are missing a diamond on the 10D, and out of the brick I bought I've only opened 4.  I'm assuming they all have the misprint.

Are there any well-known decks that were misprinted and considered more desirable?

Playing Card Plethora / Local Stores That Stock Tally-Ho Decks?
« on: November 28, 2016, 10:25:08 PM »
I live in New England, USA.  As much as I love supporting online businesses, I'm never going to shy away from a local purchase.  I found some Bee's at Bed Bath and Beyond for $3.29, and Rite Aid had 50% of decks all week for Black Friday.  Grabbed some Bee's as well as some breast cancer Bikes and a couple Panda Decks just for the lulz. But..

For the life of me, I can't find Tallys anywhere locally.  Sometimes I just like to go cruise to the store and pop open a freshly bought deck.  I even went into the closest Magic store to me in Peabody, MA (over an hour away), and they didn't even have any Tallys.

Has anyone found some locally outside of their local magic store?  Even if you don't live near me, I'm just curious to know.  Maybe there's places I'm overlooking.

Thanks everyone!

So, I'm addicted to any Rider Back released directly by Bicycle (not the  custom orders for T11, E, etc).  I'm currently in love with the Coral and Indigo fashion decks released this year (although the decks I've opened were printed in 2015).

These decks feel SO MUCH DIFFERENT than a standard RB.  They're softer out of the box, they don't typically develop the super curved corners that standard RBs have...

Is it just me noticing this?  I feel spoiled with some of these special editions to the point where I just don't want to use standard blue/red/black RBs anymore.  Out of the box they spring and faro smoother, and they seem to break-in differently.  Sometimes I think I'm going crazy, and other times I think I've been blessed with a gift of feeling  minute differences.  Maybe it's just me?

I know that there's the two different presses at USPC, I've read everything I can find about stock and finish and cut, etc., but do these special editions feel different because they've been printed on a different press?  Is it that the colors being used make the cards literally feel different?

I'm addicted to the faro shuffle.  It's an issue.  Still trying to see if it's a treatable disorder, or if I'm stuck with this addiction for life.  As soon as I crack open a new deck, I pull the jokers off and go right to trying 8 perfect faro's in a row.  With standard Bike's, it's basically impossible (for me).  With these special editions, I weave up the perfect 8 almost every time ( in the hands, of course:).

There's also a Silver-backed RB deck that comes in a black box, that has all silver and black pips and faces, with the court cards enlarged and only facing one direction.  For any trick I can do involving the faro (like the vernash ace control), it's my go to deck.  My variation is I faro the deck in both directions during the performance.  I've tried to find more information about this deck as well, but I'm failing.

I know this post has some craziness thrown in there just for fun, but in all seriousness, do others notice these differences?  I've treated Magic Orthodoxy's videos explaining cut and finish etc. as my personal plethora of bibles.  His details are the ones I'm always looking for, but sometimes I feel like I need to talk directly to whomever is in charge over at the design desk at Bicycle to get my answers lol.  I think I need to buy a caliper.

I also just unboxed a deck of the Autocycle No. 1 (Target exclusives), and those feel completely different than all of the others!  Again they're smoother around the edges. I definitely feel the differences between the Bee and Tally stocks (I think Tally's are my absolute favorites, but lack of variation keeps me away).

I may be going crazy, and for all I know, tomorrow after this post USPC may knock on my door with men dressed in suits and earpieces asking me to "please come with us, sir".  Maybe I've said too much!

(Thanks for any real info anyone has for me.  Just thought I'd start a topic on a serious thought I've had for a while.  Cheers!)

Playing Card Plethora / Pink and Silver Bicycle Decks at Walmart?
« on: September 12, 2016, 02:57:52 AM »
Hey.  My first post, and I hope I placed it in the best spot.  I searched and searched and can't seem to find the specific info I'm looking for...

A couple months ago, I went into Walmart looking to grab a couple Bike decks, and came across a Pink deck.  After learning about how certain decks are only available at Walmart, I'm trying to figure out if this is one of those decks.  I've also found the same deck in a Silver color, and I've searched 7 Walmarts looking for more and/or different colors.  I haven't seen anything else other than the Pink and the Silver.

When searching online, information has been limited, with a couple stores referencing these as a "vintage design".  Does anyone out there have some more info on these decks for me?  If they're "custom", who have they been made for?  Are they called something specific that may help me search for other colors?  I'd really appreciate any help or links or anything lol.

I know about the "fashion" decks that are available through Walmart, and I don't think they're part of that line.  So far I've purchased Daybreak, Marsala, Coral, and Indigo.  Also stocked up on the Neon Cyclist decks when they went on sale for $2.  If I can find these specific decks in purple I'll be completely stoked!

Roaming the beachside this summer with the Pink deck might've gotten me a few pretty tourist's numbers...might've...Ill leave the stories to your imaginations  ;)  8)

Introduce Yourself / New
« on: August 20, 2016, 11:18:16 PM »
Hey everyone.  Although I've been playing cards all my life (32), I've never gotten into card magic until recently, and of course with that came collecting! Lol

I joined here to ask a couple questions about certain cards, and I'm hoping someone out there has the answers for me!  Thanks in advance!
