The Conversation Parlor / Re: Performing magic with fully custom decks
« on: September 03, 2012, 12:40:08 AM »
For me it depends on the level of difficulty of the trick. Using a beautiful, custom deck for a simple Jumping Gemini would work fine, but more complicated tricks would usually get suspected by the spectator. So I guess it depends on the performer, audience, and situation.

Well, I have a UC account, but it still didn't work. Anyways, I went to UC, and saw the deck that was being talked about. I saw someone on Facebook post about it, and I believe it is a Canadian version of the 125th Anniversary deck, excepted printed after the 125th anniversary.

Playing Card Plethora / Re: New Dan & Dave Variety Box

I have to agree that this variety box is pretty cool. The too kadvantage of their latest unreleased and very limited decks to sell it as a rare item, but that's not too bad  ;) Not to mention that the boxes and the display look gorgeous!

Playing Card Plethora / Re: NEW DECK- Next Deck from Circle City Cards
« on: September 01, 2012, 11:47:58 AM »
was wondering how it was supposed to resemble quicksilver but soon realized it was a totally different thing :/ revision v2? cos of the architectural theme and all (The metal plates..)
And also because Adam and Russel from Circle city cards both design separate decks but in the same company. Adam, creator of the revision 1 deck posted about this, so I suspect it'll be his project,  and no Russel's.

I am pretty much done with T11`s decks, they are overhyped and mediocre at best, I suggest that anyone wanting to buy their decks invest their money in other well-made decks (Ornate, Seasons, Vortex, Tendril, Galvanic to name a few) instead of wasting your hard-earned money on these decks, really it is an insult to collectors, pretty much saying "we are an established company so we can put 10 hours into a deck and make 10x the money someone who puts 100 hours in does."

In all these variations of the monarchs they can't even be bothered to make the faces match the white decks. Also they only show you pictures of the box on the product page so you dont see how ugly the decks really are.
Amen. I find this just ridiculous. Plus, with the "gotta collect 'em all" mentality (that I have as well), we are just pushed into buying those tactics JUST to be up to date with the newest releases and to have them all.

The silver monarchs are just like the silver steampunks. Same box recoloration idea. And the back design is almost the same as the white monarchs. How ridiculous. As for this deck, the box looks great, and so does the seal. To me the capitol on the back design is completely out of place. And as for the custom faces, this is just plainly disappointed. Joker and the Thief, do you now understand why we are disappointed?

Yes, but also, the only difference between these, the blue, red and green ones is the back design color. So, they are custom, but in a way, I agree with Aaron when he says these decks clutter the market.

How about food? Are there any must try food in the West coast?
Well the steakhouses, and maybe some of the mexican and other exotic food places in the bay area. You will have a wide variety there!

These look just OK in my opinion. Nothing more. I find the green too pale. I will be getting one, but just one, no more.

Playing Card Plethora / Re: NEW DECK- Silver Monarchs Deck from Theory11
« on: August 29, 2012, 08:25:28 PM »
Wow. Theory11 are turning into new D&D, with color variations for Monarchs, Steampunks, JAQKs... I find it kind of ridiculous to have a fourth color in this series. Plus, how will the back design of the silver monarchs be any different from the normal ones? I'm guessing only the box will be different.

67
This trick looks very visual yet simple. Wow! Do both the black and white deck have the same gimmick but with inversed colors or do they have another gimmick, different, just like this one is different from the Artist Edition?

Well then if you can't go to many, make sure you check out the ones right inside of San Francisco, and unmissable Yosemite National Park.

I agree with JMRock and Paul. I'm really liking the back design and am still crossing my fingers for custom faces. I'm also hoping these won't be "very rare and limited". That would be ridiculous.

I believe he lives there. In California, I definitely recommend you go to some of the National Parks. They are beautiful. Try Yosemite and Joshua Park. I've been to almost all in California (multiple times), and they are big and my favorites. If you have some spare time (which I doubt), you should try and go to some of the National parks between Yellowstone and Grand Canyon. I'm talking about Bryce, Glen Canyon, Grand Teton, Arches, Canyonlands, and dozens of others.
I recommend you check this website out:
nps.gov
It is the official national parks site, and you can easily find the ones closest to you (Golden Gate Bridge National Park and many others in the bay area near San Francisco), and Joshua Tree and others near L.A.
PS: I've been to L.A. multiple times, and although it doesn't make your path from San Francisco to Las Vegas much longer, I don't think you'll find much to do there. Maybe you should plan not staying as long. The city is pretty ugly, and unless you actually stay away from the city itself and stay in the suburbs.

Well looks like this one has been cancelled because somebody pulled their funding at the last minute.
Are you sure? It still says it is successfully funded from what I see. And with 2,000+ extra $, I would be surprised to see that happen..

EDIT: Oh, I see the update you are talking about. I hope that's not the case though. *Fingers Crossed*

Deck Reviews! / Re: [TXT] [long] Skulkor Deck *** (3/5 stars)
« on: August 28, 2012, 08:30:18 PM »
I didn't actually hate it. I was just bashing on their marketing tactics. And for the brick box I was talking about their "custom brick box" they were talking about, not the special one you get with some extra red-sealed decks. I was talking about the one with their "custom sticker", a plain white box with a sticker on it. Thanks for the suggestions.
