I bought a quantity and completed checkout at 12:02. Went back to get a few more 2 minutes later, and they were showing as sold out.

I've just checked the black lions page... still shows as available.

Paul, you need to change your signature now -- move Chancellor over to "sold out", alongside the other four.

I only just checked around an hour ago... but by the looks of it, this was yet another 24 hour sell out. Good going! :D

Encarded + EPCC... too good for me to pass on!

The 5th or 6th Monarchs recolour from T11 interests me as little as the first recolour, and the recoloured SWE from Ellusionist is not something I care for either. I've never purchased any D&D decks. So, despite a fair few releases this Black Friday, there isn't anything from the usual suspects that will make me part with my money... and so that meant more money to spend on Paul's new deck!

I ordered 5 decks of Chancellors :D

Seeing as UUSI switched from EPCC to USPCC partway through their campaign for their latest Pagan poker deck, I got myself out of there as a matter of urgency and cancelled my brick pledge... and so that gave me extra funds for other campaigns! :D

I was previously in for 6 decks (including one gold) of Grinders... and so when I saw the latest campaign update, I jumped in for the Power Trio tier! :D

I'm genuinely delighted that Randy has made a blue deck available. I always thought that a blue deck would look pretty darn cool, and it definitely is cool!

I think everybody that's got in on these decks is going to be really pleased with the end result. Everything about these decks are brilliant!

55
Thanks Randy, for confirming that these will indeed feature perfect 2-way back designs! :D

Fes, the LUXX V1 and the Draconians did have *very slight* 1-way designs... but they weren't something that stood out -- it was probably like 1 pixel worth of alignment difference.

My favourite LPCC stock/finish is Diamond Finish, but Classic Finish is definitely excellent also. The handling for the Classic Gold, Sharps, and Draconions was great, and so I'd expect nothing less from these.

Classic Finish is definitely superior to Bee Casino stock (and even Bee Casino from 2006-2008) by far -- Classic Finish outlasts Bee Casino, and handles better out of the box.

It's fairly clear from what Paul has written that LUXX Elliptica is meant to be a value-for-money deck that is economical for buyers to stock up on... but hey, I wouldn't mind seeing a special edition, limited variant also!

56
This is an awesome design -- easily one of my favourites.

I'm pretty much cash strapped right now (I've had to sell off a heck of a lot of my collection)... but somehow, I'll get enough money together to be able to buy some of these beauties! :D

Paul, can you confirm that the back design is going to be fully 2-way?

I ask that purely because a lot of full bleed repeating back designs are unintentionally 1 way at the corners!

This can possibly be the best deck ever for gambling sleights!! :D

Playing Card Plethora / Re: New Blaine/Stutzman deck
« on: November 03, 2015, 06:38:52 AM »
Blaine and Stutzman are both living legends... and all collaborations between them have been ultra-successful so far. It's difficult to imagine any new release by them being anything other than yet another success.

There was a "black lions" type of deck that was teased a while ago, and so I'm not sure if this could be connected to that one.

I hope Blaine goes with Expert or Legends when printing the new deck because it'd be really cool of the printing and quality of the materials was finally able to do justice to the DB designs :D

I do like the back design (even though it does look eerily similar to existing decks), and I like the custom pips (I agree that the spades look like artichokes. Lol)... but seriously dislike the courts.

I didn't care for the 52+J deck last year (I eBayed off the gold edition ones that I got from LPCC)... but this one, I really like!

Tuck looks really awesome! Even Jackson's Liberty deck looks really cool.

This year, the decks really are looking great :D

I'm not too big a fan of recolour releases. Once upon a time I didn't mind, but not they're not something I get excited about.

Even the blue JAQK deck, in my opinion sucks. One or two recolours are okay... but when a third one happens it sucks.

This blood edition is, as far as I'm aware, the first recolour release featuring that particular design. It probably will appeal to all fans of the scarlett rounders that didn't manage to actually get that particular deck -- this may end up being the closest thing that they get to a red rounders, without having to sell a kidney to have the funds to purchase.

« on: September 17, 2015, 06:04:29 AM »
This I brilliant!

Love the tuck, love the back design, and love the way the use of the colour on the backs and the faces! The way the colour has been used does kind of remind me of the Ornates... but yet, the deck/design I totally different, and so there's no question of the Grinders being considered to be a clone of any sort. I think you've totally nailed it Randy. I'll definitely be in for these.

I'm in agreement with Don about a second colour. For an awesome design like this, it would be criminal not to have a second colour!! At least consider it as a stretch goal man.

I'd personally like to see a blue version.

By the way, which LPCC stock/finish will be utilised for this deck? *EDIT: I took a closer look at the image showing the tuck, and I noticed that at does say Classic Finish on the bottom of the tuck*

Very, very nice! :D

Lucite cases have always been cool... but the prices have never been cool. That all changes now.

I'm definitely interested. I'll try and eBay off the remainder of my USPCC decks by the end of the month, and use the funds to order some of these beauties :D

Hey man.

Welcome to PCF. Before anything else, let me offer some quick advice... please correct the obvious typo (shown in the screen print below) as soon as you can -- the last thing you need is people poking fun at the campaign, especially when the design is pretty cool.

The video was a waste of time -- one of the worst I've seen for any KS campaign.

The printer hasn't been mentioned either. Doesn't look like anywhere near as much time has been put into creating this campaign, in comparison to the serious campaigns by serious (and successful) playing card designers.

The blurred front of the box looks like it says Expert At The Card Table (with two acorns at the end)... and I do like EATCT themed decks.

I like the professor's works a lot also. Incredible man, incredible life.

The Buck twins nearly always print with USPCC... and if that's the case, that'll be the one thing (crap quality materials, cutting, and printing) that'll make me pass on a deck I would have otherwise purchased a brick on.

« on: August 14, 2015, 01:41:30 PM »
Excellent! :D

As stated on the previous thread, I love the design and concept. I think this deck will look quite stunning.

I just received the Legends Day of the Dead deck yesterday, and they'd used a really nice orange foil on the tuck... it looks quite stunning. Whether you go for orange foil or just ink on the tuck, either way it'll look great. Do consider orange foil as a stretch goal though.

I'm probably in a minority here... but I genuinely like "normal" sized borders, rather than thin ones!

I'll definitely be backing this project. See you at the launch!

That doesn't even have the skull/crossbones back design... it's just a black and white rider back.

Not impressed brother.

The more I see of this, the more I like it! :D

I like the total package -- as in how the paisley design is worked into everything, from the tuck, to the back design, to the courts, and even the joker. Very nice.

The fact that it's a relatively "busy" borderless back design will make them pretty darn good for gambling sleights, and also creating gaffs. Yep, I'm definitely looking forward to this one :D

What sort of size is the print run going to be?

@Hank: lol. Bro, although that is around half of my stash, those are all of the Legends in-house decks that I have -- the other half are printed by Legends (and some by EPCC), but not their in-house brands. So basically, cool decks like LUXX (V1 and V2), Golden Spike (gold edition and black ink), ShiShou, Jetsetter, Bowl-a-rama, etc.

I must confess though, I wouldn't mind having some more V1 Legends!

@Don: It would be brilliant to see some of your collection. I'm looking forward to it already!

In the mean time, 3 more decks arrived today.

USPCC quality ‎sucks (to state the obvious)... but this is one time where I'm getting some USPCC decks due to what the decks are connected to.

These are decks for the movie which basically got me interested in the world of card sharps, card cheating, Erdnase, etc. It's an awesome movie, and even Jason England and Paul Wilson had parts in it and consulted for it.

In case you haven't already guessed, it's the SHADE casino deck.

I personally liked SHADE a lot more than ROUNDERS!‎

Nobody has posted here for a while... and so for the heck of it, here's around half my stash of Legends playing cards.

Playing Card Plethora / Re: The One Playing Cards @ Coterie1902
« on: August 09, 2015, 06:00:45 AM »

Nice review from a credible source.

I was looking forward to hearing about the made in China quality. I know quality can vary with all imported products. I've had both good and bad experiences with products made in China. Thanks

Hey man!

If you haven't already tried a deck with Emerald Finish, then I definitely would recommend "The One Entertainment" deck!

‎The edges of the Emerald Finish cards are similar (although not as bad) as cards cut by USPCC‎ -- not as smooth as the cards cut in Taiwan for decks featuring Diamond or Classic Finish.

There is a big similarity between the output of this China factory and the legendary Taiwan factory for one thing though -- printing precision. ‎The artwork doesn't move even a single pixel when you riffle the cards.

I think those that find the Diamond/Master Finish too stiff would probably like Emerald Finish more. I'd say that Emerald Finish is slightly stiffer than Bee stock, and not "spongy" like Bees.

Also, Emerald Finish doesn't feel as "oily" as Diamond Finish‎ cards, yet they still have just as good slip factor.

I did like the Pr1me decks a lot, but the only thing I disliked about them was that they weren't traditionally cut... and so even though the cards felt great, they didn't shuffle as well as they could have. With this new deck though, that problem is a thing of the past.

I think it is fair to have reservations about production in China, seeing as there are a fair few horror stories out there. However, this factory that are dealing with orders for Emerald Finish decks are clearly a legit player. Lawrence Sullivan is known to be a perfectionist whose attention to detail on matters relating to quality are on a level of its own... and so I'm not too surprised that he was able to find afactory in PRC which delivers to a standard which is above and beyond expectations.

In my humble opinion, "The One Entertainment" deck handles better than the Pr1me decks. Give it a go! :D

Chas,

You're spot on about the Dealers. Although I am a fan of both Daniel Madison and full bleed repeating back designs, the Dealers are one of my least favourite decks for the reason that you've mentioned -- they're probably the least durable deck I've handled in years.

The Madison Rounders are considered to be relatively soft... but still, nowhere near as flimsy as the Dealers.

The Madison Private Reserve rounders are much better -- thicker and stiffer than the regular rounders. From what I remember, the Sleepers deck was also a thicker stock than DM's usual.

Hey Don.‎

There's probably only one person on the planet that is more picky than me about the direction of the cut... Richard Turner! If a deck isn't traditionally cut, then for me it's pretty much useless, and a waste of my time. Before even looking at the AoS, courts, or even the back design, the first thing I check for is the cut.

I know the direction of the cut just my running my finger along the card edge... but then for added certainty, I give the deck some interlace riffle shuffles. The SWE deck that I've got is definitely traditionally cut -- 150% confirmed.

I do however stress that the SWE deck I have got is traditionally cut... because that doesn't mean that every other deck is.

Erik Mana told me that even when you ask USPCC to traditionally cut cards, even then there is no guarantee that every single deck will be traditionally cut. I believe him because:

(1) The first (black) Madison Rounders deck I received was traditionally cut... but every ‎other black Rounders deck I received had a modern cut.

(2) The Madison Rounders Private Reserve deck was said to be traditionally cut... but the one I opened was NOT.

Therefore, the deck I got may indeed be an anomoly.

Saying that though, some Ellusionist decks were  consistently traditionally cut. For example, Sultan Republic‎, Executive, and most recently, the white Kings deck.

You're right about the USPCC excuse for discouraging traditional cutting being seriously lame. USPCC cutting sucks whichever direction they cut in. I think the true reason they don't like traditional cuts is because of the extra work (turning the sheets face down).

Anyway, the one way thing has pissed me off a fair bit. The deck would have been great for me as negative-strippers, had it been a proper two way design!‎

Playing Card Plethora / Re: Madison Presents: SWE Playing Cards
« on: August 06, 2015, 02:30:06 PM »
Right then, I finally got to try out this deck -- I got myself a few, because I wanted to create some Negative-Stripper decks out of them.

First the positives:

(1) The deck is traditionally cut... therefore much better for the type of slights and table work that EATC was based on. However, I'm not sure whether all SWE decks are traditionally cut, or whether I just got lucky... ‎oh well...

(2) Looks like USPCC printing precision has improved -- USPCC's signature "off by 2-3 millimetres for most cards" printing didn't seem to have affected by deck!

And then the negatives:

(1) The edges are still furry -- kind of like they've been cut with a saw. A blunt saw.

(2) The card stock and coating still sucks -- card is not durable at all, and when riffle shuffling, it feels like using a little more than a soft grip will cause nasty crimps.

(3) The back design is freakin' one way!! Urgh!!‎ Had I known this, I'd not have made the purchase. I thought it was supposed to be a clean, no frills, and simple tribute to Erdnase... without any funny business.

The tuck has pretty much the same cardstock coating, and texture as all of Madison's logo decks, which is kind of cool in its own way.

As they are one way, I can't really use them... and so I'll keep one in my collection (after all, it's Erdnase stuff!), and try and eBay off the rest.‎
