We think you'll really enjoy this issue. My personal fav. article from #7 is about the playing cards on the Unsinkable Titanic. Who would have thought?!?

Enjoy CARD CULTURE...

I love the interview with UUSI, love their work so much. Unfortunate that I got into card collection so late, otherwise I would have got their Blue Blood as well.. Pagan is definitely 1 of their best work, with the details on the court cards. can't wait for their Brut deck now.

I'm glad to hear it.  i was able to put a slightly unique spin on that interview due to my prior relationship with the designers.  I've known them for a few years now and they've been my client since just prior to launching "Bohemia."  For me, I'm torn as to which is my favorite, but it might be Bohemia and Pagan in a tie!

Bohemia is incredible as well, I really enjoy looking at the artwork from UUSI and for me nothing on the market can compared to them on this genre.

Remember, it's "Uusi" - the Finnish word for "new!"  Pronounced as "OO-see" as opposed to "YOU-see" or "OO-zee."

Google Translate does a decent job of pronouncing it - https://translate.google.com/?hl=en&tab=wT#en/fi/new

I agree. The artwork from USSI is gorgeous. It seems they are really passionate at what they do and the coloring and artwork is beautiful. I'm starting to realize playing cards are more complex and not as simple as I thought it was. The artwork, coloring, design seems like "art" or "painting" on a smaller scale of cards.

Very often, that's exactly what they're doing - full-blown artwork on a "standard scale," reduced to playing card size.

Bohemia is my favorite deck hands down. I just love the artistic style of that deck.  The rest of the UUSI decks are really good but Bohemia speaks to me.

  • Kickstarter:
Great articles as usual.
It will be interesting to see how much the Titanic cards end up selling for.
Last night I stayed up late playing poker with Tarot cards. I got a full house and four people died.
