Occasionally, Art of Play, will have whats called 2 Dollar Tuesdays. The idea behind it is any deck on the site can be 2 dollars for that Tuesday.

I liked their response. "Chicken nuggets?"

I guess there could be some decent deals there if you happened to want, or not have, some of the decks in your collection. We can use this thread to post up the deals as they come I guess, make it easy to keep track of.

I'd guess that the decks we'd see for $2 would be the ones that are already about $5, and shipping will still be normal.

I can do better though! For a random 10 seconds once a week, on a random day, all my products will be FREE! There are only 600,000 seconds in a week so your chances are pretty darn good I'd say! :D

Yeah, but are the ten seconds consecutive?  :))

I'm guessing that when Tuesday rolls around, there will be a new deck, something more cost-effective for them, that's priced at $2.  Perhaps Bikes or Tally-Ho.  Maybe Hoyle Shellbacks.

  • Ugh, I wish I had money for THAT deck!
This Tuesday (today) the deck selling for $2 is the Aviator deck. Shipping within the US seems to be $7 for 1 deck, $8 for 2 decks, $9-14 for 3-8 decks (extra dollar per deck), $15 for 9-12 decks, $16 for 13-24 decks, $18 for 25-35 decks, and I didn't bother to figure out any more than that. But shipping seems to be pretty expensive but I guess buying more mitigates the shipping costs.

  • I like birds.

  • Kickstarter:
Aviator?

You gotta be foolin'. I can get those at the gas station for $1.95.

Not to mention the handling isn't as good as many other smooth finish decks. They're good, but not amazing.

Although the marketing approach is interesting and lures me in, the one horrible aspect would have to be the shipping. Makes sense if they're shipping flat rate, but, as a company, I feel that's always a terrible way to ship. To me, the only way to see this as a good offer, even for better decks, would be if you bought like half a dozen decks. And even then, the shipping would still probably cost a bunch, so it's just a no show for me.

That's why I refrained from shopping straight from companies, purely because of their outrageous shipping rates.

Those shipping rates are really, REALLY expensive.

When it comes to shipping and handling, too many people like to fudge the "and handling" part...

I'm almost certain either Art of Play or one of the Buck twins said something along the lines of their $2 Tuesdays will be mostly for decks that people want to use a lot like Aviators, Bikes, etc. I'm willing to be corrected if wrong but that's what I remember hearing or reading somewhere. Definitely way too expensive shipping from the site.

That wouldn't surprise me in the least.  "Staple" decks offered at cheap prices (with outrageous shipping).  Buying in bulk will reduce the effect of the shipping, as would adding some of their other, nicer decks.

The promotion will undoubtedly bring in potential customers. Selling those decks cheap will definitely help them make money as well seeing as I'm sure buying them in even larger bulk makes them a lot less than $2.

Yeah, but that shipping really sours the deal...

I guess if you wanted to keep an account today's $2 deck was the Vintage Plaids from D&D. A little late seeing as Tuesday is basically over and they're sold out. But just so it's on record. :))

I imagine they sold really fast.  Do they make any claims about how many of these Tuesday decks go up for grabs?  I mean, I could claim I'm having a sale on Bicycle Goofballs and only have ten in stock...  Do you know how late in the day they sold out?

I don't recall reading anywhere how much they have in stock. I imagine not a small amount if they have the option of buying three bricks (then again, maybe not). I know Art of Play tweeted at around 6 Pacific time. Doesn't necessarily guarantee that's right when they ran out but definitely not after that.
