Um, where did you order them?

This is a new deck, I presume?  I can't read the copyright date in the photos.

Actually, I did a little digging and found this site selling them.

http://www.amiami.com/

The store is the English-language version of a Japanese "character/hobby" store, with all pricing in yen.  Lots of toys for children and grown-ups alike.

More importantly, though - go ahead, type "playing cards" in the Search box and click...I dare you...

There's a ton, but some of it is pretty cool. I like the Nintendo decks (Legend of Zelda, Mario, etc). I always wondered how decent they were since Nintendo started off making playing cards for a Japanese game though I honestly can't imagine someone do magic, cardistry or even playing poker with them.

The bear brick had a previous deck from before. I'm guessing it was success/popular enough to justify more decks about the collector's toy.

I can confirm that despite the high prices, Be@rbrick collectibles are crazy popular here in Asia. I'm very susceptible to their ursine charms and will be getting this deck for sure.  :D

So it's a deck based on a toy? I've seen that deck before on eBay, but I didn't jump on it because I didn't (and still don't completely) know what it is.

It was a promotional deck created by USPC for the Medicom company in Japan to advertise their Be@rbrick toy line.  It was unique in a number of ways:

  • Pale yellow background color.
  • Large block numbers/letters, light colors for the dark suits and vice versa, behind the pips indicating value.
  • Courts are teddy-bear-like Be@rbrick characters without faces.
  • Reflective hologram sticker on the back bottom right corner of the cellophane wrapping - I think it's a Medicom logo.
  • Sold individually or as part of a boxed set with five custom dice.
  • Not released in the United States, only in Japan - the only US retailers selling it are aftermarket.

It's not the rarest or hardest-to-obtain, but it's a pretty cool deck.  The boxed set is almost never sold in the US or Canada - I got mine from someone living in Japan.

AHAHA, true I hadn't thought of that!
Although I don't know if Pedo-bear is worse than thinking it had to do with Furries... perhaps we shouldn't go down that line of conversation XD

Ah, there's no need to be concerned.  The Secret Service agents that monitor this board have already contacted the FBI, who have dispatched agents to the location of your IP address.  They'd like to take you into custody - for your own protection, mind you - and ask you a few questions...  :))

Haha I think there'd be significantly more bureaucratic red tape, what with me being in Australia and all.
Think the FBI would at least have to go through ASIO (our equivalent of your CIA I guess) or the AFP (... I think this would be our closest equivalent to your FBI?) and/or through the local police department.
Furries aren't actually illegal here as far as I know... I remember once going to a picnic in the park and there was a large gathering of furries who also happened to be in the same park having a BBQ - they were very open about it... we were mostly young, naive and , after that day, scarred..... Haven't been back to that park for anything since XD

Well, the AFP would have many more questions regarding Pedo-bear...  :))

I believe you're correct there :).
My question is, how do you that the AFP would be more interested in the Pedo-bear? I didn't the AFP was well known enough to garner international attention.

OK, now we're REALLY off-topic here...  Any comments about THIS deck and NOT the previous Be@rbrick deck?
