Playing Card Plethora / Crypt by Oath Playing Cards
« on: March 16, 2020, 06:34:00 AM »
Just a reminder for the folks that aren't desciple-like following Lotrek (are there collectors like that? lol). Lotrek has a mystery deck for pre-order on his website. It's called Crypt and he plans on never revealing pictures of it, ever. The pre-order started yesterday and is up for 72h. So if you want a deck you have until early Tuesday to order one for the hefty (most certainly justified) price tag of $110. Last chance to ever order it will be on the 10th of April but then it will be priced at $130. After these two pre-order windows eBay will be your best friend.

Playing Card Plethora / Card Books
« on: March 09, 2020, 04:53:06 AM »
Any tips on card related books other than Paper Empires and Hochman's Encyclopedia? I'm specifically searching for books that feature a lot of back designs and in the best case with good and maybe even coloured scans/pictures of the cards.

The Conversation Parlor / Plastic Cards - Copag vs. KEM
« on: March 04, 2020, 04:01:11 AM »
I have zero to none knowledge about plastic playing cards. I know that in professional gameplay they are kinda the standard but in private poker rooms, I still prefer the feel and sound of paper playing cards; I guess it comes down to what you are used to.
I've seen some intersting back designs popping up lately, which made curious about the world that I maybe totally miss out on. I would love to here some thoughts about the two big brands and plastic cards in general.

- Who offers the greater variety of collectable decks?
- Which are better quality?
- Is there anything important to know about plastic cards regarding storage, durability? Do they get brittle if not storaged correctly?
- Since plastic isn't the, let's say most environmental friendly component (I know neither are plastic coated paper playing cards  ::)), is there anything important to keep in mind? What is the plastic with less impact?
- Any care tips?

Thanks in advance for sharing your thoughts.

This might be a very long shot since, all folks that were invited will most definetly carry these decks as batches of honor. But asking never hurt nobody. So if anybody out there has the two decks (see photo below) that were given out at the event at As Is, It would make an European collector very happy if we can figure out a deal for them. The box set would be icing on the cake but I'm a card collector so the two decks alone would make me extremly happy as well.

If some one that attended has and/or is allowed to give further infos on these (print run/ available for public sometime maybe) it would be very kind to share any bit of information as well.

Thanks for reading and in advance for any helpful info.

A Cellar of Fine Vintages / Old Arrco - True Story
« on: March 02, 2020, 03:42:02 AM »
A friend of mine gave me these Arrco cards that he found in a German(!) thrift store - what a long journey they must have had :).
They are Bridge sized, gold gilded and have a smooth finish. Courts and number cards are Arrco standard with a red/yellow colour palette. The tuck box is a match box like one and not a standard tuck. Besides that I don't know anything about them. Can someone give any further infos like print date or something? Thanks in advance and ignore the ugly rug, lol.

The Conversation Parlor / How to - Purchase decesions?
« on: July 31, 2019, 07:34:46 AM »
I'm curious to hear some thoughts on this; since the custom playing card market is boomin atm, the number of freshly published cards is pretty high. Problem with this is, you can't have them all; at least I can't  ???.
How do you guys decide what to get with limited funds?

Introduce Yourself / hello to everyone
« on: July 19, 2019, 05:59:16 AM »
Hi there,

I'm collecting cards since a couple of years now. Poker was the reason that sucked me into the world of playing cards. I like to explore new stuff and this is the main reason that I signed up here. With few exceptions - e.g. Oathplayingcards, Kingswildproject, Stockholm17 - the card industry has become dull in my opinion. So my hope is to find some stuff and some nice fellows in here, that can re-ignite the spark that I felt in the early years when coming in contact with custom playing cards.

Best regards,
