Magical Cardistry Bonanza / Hovercards
« on: November 06, 2014, 11:07:42 PM »
Hey guys,

Was trying to repair my old hovercard gimmick but it doesn't work properly now - it's lost tension so it just floats downwards and then sags a bit. I was trying to find some more gimmicks for standard bicycle decks (I have one for a ghost deck which is still fine at the moment). Looked all around the web and can only find Jumbo versions.

If you can only find it locally, I'd be willing to pay you to buy a couple and ship them off  8)

Cheers all  :D

QUICK UPDATE: Found some from taiwan sellers on eBay, but I have no control over the colours. They're $9 each so maybe if I buy 4 I can get an even split between red and blue backs  :D Still would like to see if anyone knows of any other alternatives.

Playing Card Plethora / Need some help here with Blue Fontaine's
« on: November 05, 2014, 07:21:14 PM »
Hey guys, long time no see  :D

Wasn't too sure where to put this thread but here goes. I need some assistance in getting into contact with Zach Mueller and getting an actual response. I've tried his twitter, and I've tried contacting him via his website. Long story short, I haven't received my pledge from his kickstarter campaign. I've been billed for the full amount for a brick of his blue fontaines, and am yet to receive them since shipping out 2/3 months ago.

Amazon payments have been most unhelpful in this matter, I've even tried to get refunded however, they are stating that anything over 60 days of payment cannot be done. I find this very unfair as payment was taken all the way back in January this year. Production and shipping took over 6-7 months to carry out, which I completely understand. Yes I have done my survey  :)

I would have done a credit card chargeback by now, however my financial institution does not do this for Visa Debit cards  :(

Hopefully someone here is able to get directly into contact with him. I'm not here to belittle, or rubbish the guy. The sheer logistics of what he was carrying out would have been an immense task. I see this as an oversight, and my order simply has been missed amongst all of the others.

Cheers  :D

A Cellar of Fine Vintages / Green and Blue Silver Slipper Casino set
« on: January 04, 2014, 02:26:11 AM »
I've been interested in silver slipper cards for the past month or so and managed to pick up an opened deck to see what all the fuss is about. They look great, but they handle well... yeah, not good. Recently I stumbled across this image:

I was hoping if anyone could help me with some history/background information about this set of Silver Slipper cards. I'm not getting any luck through Mr Google  :(

Cheers

Hey everyone. I'm searching for between 2 and 5 black stinger decks sealed. My minimum offer is $17 per deck and I'm located in Australia in the beautiful sunny state of Queensland (not the cold and miserable states known as Canberra or Victoria).

Hit me up if you're interested, Maybe we can trade.  ;)

Deck Reviews! / [TEXT] Cage Garden 02 - White
« on: March 28, 2013, 05:54:42 AM »
Hi everyone,

No the subject was not a typo. I am indeed reviewing the Bicycle Cage Garden No 02 (White). I have 2 sets of the black and white so I decided why not?

Before opening the decks I had heard a lot of negatives about the deck and how they flopped in terms of handling. Initially I had light heartedly thought it was probably some form of lie the Chinese were telling us to keep the demand for the decks solely within China.

But boy the claims are true. I'm going to describe the deck since taking it out of its box through to its 2nd week of use.

The box is really something to be admired; it has elegance written all over it. The seal gets cracked open and you are straight away hit with a smell. It is probably of the "New finish" that was advertised in the trailer video. Imagine the fultons casino brown and orange smell, with a hint of vinegar. It's rather off putting, but you assume that once you take out the cards you'll forget about the smell and admire the decks 'new finish'.

Well, the cards when you first remove them feel like what can only be described as bicycle stock and construction paper. The edges are incredibly rough and the cards feel very flimsy. It actually feels as though USPCC forgot to apply a coating too because it will feel like a cheap knock-off jerry's nugget deck. After frowning at this plight you begin your process of breaking in the deck. If you could break it in...
Fans are well... yeah. If you own a casino deck like the wynns, try fanning that and you'll see what I mean.

With the lack of fanning ability aside you will be weave the deck very nicely in both directions, just don't be surprised at the amount of resistance you get when trying to push the two parts back together. After a few cuts, aerials and some sleights I began to see that there is a fair amount of potential for this deck. The cards hold together very well, have a nice spring to them and retain shape. Never did I have to worry about cards slipping away during a pass or a flourish.

Another thing I do enjoy about the deck thus far is the court cards and faces. Everything is custom and it resembles that of the Absolut Vodka deck as it is very similar in design. The design isn't over the top, and it is very friendly for magicians and cardists.

Over my use of this deck, I have noticed its fanning ability has improved, the smell has almost gone and the edges are finally smoothing out. It reminds me somewhat of the Legends deck but with less superior handling; mainly for the fact that it improves as you break it in over time. This deck is really a collectors deck, however I do enjoy using it. Obviously with some fanning powder it could become a very nice deck to use, however in terms of an out of the box rating I rate it 6/10.

I'm looking forward to receiving the truth garden decks so I can truly enjoy this series.

A Cellar of Fine Vintages / Playboy Casino Atlantic City Deck
« on: February 23, 2013, 04:37:38 AM »
Hey guys, I've had this deck lying around for a while and decided to open it today. The cards themselves are very thick and springy. They have an interesting finish, bordering on a smooth and air cushioned feel. But, I know nothing of this deck, however after a bit of googling, I came across dealing deuces website. The information provided on the site suggests it is incredibly rare and came from a closed down Atlantic City casino, and they're selling it for $100.

My question is, is it to be believed? I can't really find any other information about this deck, and I know that DD has had some issues with legitimacy in the past.

Some images for you:

Hi, I'm looking to trade my Magic-Con V1. The main decks I'm after are:
  • Red Artifice
  • Gold Arcane
  • Opened V1 Smoke
However if you don't have these to offer and the offer seems reasonable enough then we could very well have a trade on our hands.

I'm sure by now most of you would know that I'm posting from Australia, and will cover my own shipping expenses in the result of a trade. You can ask questions, leave trade offers, etc either in this thread or PM.

Cheers

Playing Card Plethora / Black Friday Sales predictions, speculation, etc
« on: November 10, 2012, 06:52:06 AM »
Well since this is my first proper year into cardistry, magic and collecting cards, the Black Friday Sales seem like a very interesting time filled with amazing deals. So I'd like to know what your thoughts, predictions, etc are for the sales this year.

I'll get the ball rolling:
Ellusionist: probably be doing deals with the Red Artifice and Gold Arcanes, and having more Sultan Treasury decks. 75$ will land you an artifice, $150 will land  you an arcane.

Theory 11: Red JAQKs with orders over $50, White monarchs with orders over $100

What do you think?

16
Obviously this is your chance to get your hands on one without the reserves. Yes I'm being competitive  :bosswalk:  Make sure that you read the eBay listing too.
Since the link got changed to the Sultan Republic Treasury decks, and I still had them laying in my cart I managed to buy 3.

Shipping within Australia is $6, Worldwide is $15.

Happy bidding,

Adrian

Up for auction is my last Gold Crown Deck; I do have one opened but this is the last sealed one.  Shipping within Australia will be $6 and worldwide will be around $17.50 (ignore the calculated costs)

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/290804093345

Preferred method of payment is PayPal and all orders will be sent out with tracking via Australia Post. Happy bidding!

Not saying that anyone from this forum needs to know this, but, please ensure that if you cannot make payment that you contact me please. With the exception of one buyer, I've had another winner completely not pay, and I've had no other choice but to file a complaint. Please don't t let this happen to you, I want each transaction to be as smooth as possible, and all it takes is some communication.

happy bidding

Adrian

Introduce Yourself / I never actually said hi...
« on: October 31, 2012, 10:33:29 PM »
I've realised after being here for a few months that I haven't actually done an introduce yourself topic yet. So... I'm Adrian and I'm 18 living in Australia. My passion for magic started when I was 4 with my step brother showing me the sliding thumb trick.

Several books later and into my early high school years around 2007-2008 I discovered ellusionist and theory 11. Unfortunately my parents weren't too keen on the whole magic thing so I missed out on a lot of things and learnt via some twins a few grades above me who were very good with magic and cardistry. Upon being able to purchase some decks from the twins whenever they made their orders online, I got myself some Masters decks and some ghosts, and they are still some of my favourite decks to date; the stock just makes everything seem so much nicer.

Around the start of my 2nd last year of school I lost interest in all things cards, only to rediscover my passion during my 1st semester at university/college (whichever part of the world you're in). It's been a great journey since I've started back up again, and the deck collecting part... well lets just say I've spent a lot of money in a matter of months accumulating the decks I so yearned to own back in the day   :bosswalk:

And yeah. See you round.

Playing Card Plethora / Stock on the current White Ghost decks?
« on: October 28, 2012, 02:12:06 AM »
Hey there, I was playing around with some white ghosts I got from ellusionist during the black friday sale they had earlier this year. I noticed that even though this was long after the uv 500 stock was no longer available, the deck still felt and handled like it had that stock. Upon comparing it to a uv500 masters deck it felt the same and am curious as to if someone knows what stock the white ghosts use at the moment.
