I heard awhile ago they hadn't planned on selling them....maybe that has since changed.

Thank you everybody...there won't be many left over once orders are shipped.  I imagine once the dust settles, i'll be able to put the remaining decks for sale on my website later in the year.  Stay tuned!

Here are a few photos from the final Whispering Imps™ decks.  I should be receiving a truck load of them in a week or so...

Update: I received word this morning from the USPC that the Whispering Imps™ are printed, boxed and scheduled to shipped out to me next week...way ahead of schedule!

I will start shipping decks to backers on October 14th.

Playing Card Plethora / Re: cost of cards and shipping
« on: September 12, 2013, 02:45:04 PM »
I'll be doing the same thing that Jackson has done with the Fed 52's shipping...showing the actual cost of shipping (which is required anyway for International orders).

When you combine shipping materials and shipping costs...it's expensive..even domestically. I'm expecting to be hit hard with shipping costs when I start shipping out the Whispering Imps™ next month.

I agree, I wouldn't want to pay more for shipping than the actual cost of product.  At first with my Kickstarter I did not offer one deck pledges for international orders because the cost of shipping one deck was more than the price of one deck.  Only after receiving many messages asking for one deck international orders did I add it as a pledge...1 deck w/ free international shipping for $20.

I purchased one and can try to snap a photo later.  The price is good, but I don't think i'll buy any others.

Playing Card Plethora / Re: Uncut sheet
« on: August 29, 2013, 06:44:03 PM »
I'm a big fan of uncut sheets, I think it's a must for any collector who has the option to purchase an uncut of their favorite deck.  It's a great way to see all the cards at a glance, and although they can be pricey to frame and do take up a lot of precious wall space...if done correctly they look stunning!

Some are rare depending on how many were are available and/or sold.  Not all decks have uncuts for sale.  The sheets you don't frame store very well in poster tubes.

Couldn't resist backing this project yesterday.  Really great original idea for a deck. Méliés was a bit of a magicians himself with the camera.  Love their traditional approach to creating a back design, well done!

I don't think anyone with nautical themed decks are using them in the water....some folks on UC had the same question though...why nautical and why octopus?  I have no idea but Kraken Rum uses an Octopus in their products (for obvious reasons). A similar Octopus was seen in the Stranger & Stranger Ultimate Deck released by Dan & Dave...S&S designed the packaging for Kraken Rum.

Here's some insight as to why this deck features a nautical theme with an octopus: http://www.himynameismark.com/pages/about

Mark Hoppus of Blink 182 has a pretty sweet thing started called "Hi My Name Is Mark."   Clothing, art, accessories, etc....and now playing cards.  In one of his email newsletters...this image was attached.

Pretty nice looking cards if you ask me.

happy to announce the artwork for the Whispering Imps is 100% complete.  Just waiting for the proofs from the USPCC before going to print!

Thanks Don.  Mark was really the only person I knew who was right for the job.  He was already familiar with designing playing cards and very familiar with what Imps were AND drawing them....a no brainer in my book...and he totally got the concept from the beginning.  Couldn't be happier with the end result.

Thanks Curt for answering.  This was a rather short run for the Whispering Imps first edition, and they were primarily exclusive to those who backed the project.  There will be a short supply of Black Tuck and Red Tuck decks remaining that will be sold on my website (coming soon) but they won't be available until all orders for backers have been fulfilled and shipped (end of October).

Second editions and additional products are in the works for the future.

Good news, all the artwork is complete and about to be proofed by the USPCC.  Once I give the green light, it will take approx. 6-8 weeks for the cards to be printed and shipped to me for distribution.  For my first deck of playing cards, i've very pleased with the incredible support from members of this forum, the magic community and on Kickstarter.  Thank you.

According to the USPCC they have not yet been printed.  That is all I was told and all that I know.

So much for that July delivery.  Poor project management from the creator...especially when the artwork was apparently complete at the launch...and it was well over funded back in March.

I gotta say though, the thin boarders are incredibly consistent and near flawless.  Not sure how they were able to achieve it, but would love to know.

this sums up the strange usage of CAPS in this thread.

the cards are great after some breaking in, unfortunately the tuck box is cheap and boring.

I normally wouldn't comment on something like this, but it's pretty serious.

Nobody should ever be spoken to that way, ever. I don't care who you are or how angry, upset or frustrated you may be at a customer.  If you run a business, be professional and respectful.  Not rude, arrogant, racist, childish and vulgar.

It should be known by now that wired money transfers do take time, especially when using a third party such as PayPal...it's just the way it is.

As as "Sales Manager", and working professional, Mike should have clearly stated in his first email that a refund is on its way and may take a few days to process instead of just his one word response "Sure".  It's clear with his response that he was already annoyed.

Very sad.

I had some really cool custom rubber stamps made to hand stamp on each package of Whispering Imps going out later this year after they are printed.  Thought I'd share with all of you.

Also...just 3 days to go in the campaign: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/seesquared/whispering-impstm-playing-cards

Before I leave my thoughts, please note that I did spend quite a bit of time looking into this project and have shared it with some artist and card enthusiast friends...we all pretty much noticed the same things...

...it's a complete disgrace to the art and playing card communities.

Problems:
-He's doing fine, detailed artwork on a pad of paper...ON CARPET???
-Hand drawing BOTH sides of the court cards???
-Using Copyrighted music in campaign video???
-No video of illustrating cards.
-$119 gets you 1 deck, 4 shirts, 2 maps and 2 bandanas??? (a Kickstarter to raise funds for playing cards...and the highest pledge tier gets you only 1 deck...incredible)
-Thanks Paul for pointing out the copy/paste technique he used to photoshop the court cards.

I agree, I don't think Gold would fit this deck so well.  I still feel pretty good about the red foil sticking out on the Red Vellum paper.  I also think the detail of the back embossing is going to look fantastic (if the stretch goal is met).

Of the 683 backers so far I've only been contacted (either messages or comments) by about 5 or so people asking to see more Imps on the face cards.  I spent a lot of time early in the year trying to figure out if I should add them all over or keep the deck clean.  I ultimately wanted to preserve the overall integrity of the concept...adding Imps all over would have "themed it up" too much and made it look cheesy (in my opinion).  Additionally, this is not, and never was, intended to be an art deck.  There are many other beautifully designed art decks available on KS to back.  In the future I'd love to create an art deck around the Imps, but having a background in magic and being that the inspiration came from a magic poster it only seemed fitting to design the deck for functional and practical use...but remain aesthetically pleasing to the art community.

Oh yes @Collector, the Gaff ideas for this deck are endless...I could put one more in the deck if I remove a Joker (Imp) but I don't think that would please too many people.

Thank you Jackson and Paul!!  Great to have your support behind the Imps.   I've had an incredible time working with Mark on this deck and it would be amazing to reach the "Special Edition" stretch goal.  I think the red foil would really stand out on the red vellum paper, but a couple people have emailed asking if I would consider using either Gold or Black foil instead.

What does the Aether community think?

Thank you Rob and everyone who has helped make this thing happen.   I'm hoping to have the decks printed and shipped well before December.  I took into account the amount of KS decks currently being funded or just recently funded and past experiences of members who have posted on the forums.  I'd rather be early than late on fulfilling rewards....I imagine, with my full time job, it will take me nearly a week or so to pack, print and ship all the rewards myself in the evenings.

I'm working with the USPCC on a couple of unique options, we'll see if this crazy idea gets approved.  Also, stretch goals announced this week and the option to add individual decks to your order.
