It's possible Ellusionist might just sell them and not make them a freebie.

Personally I think I should get all my decks for free. Imagine that - Give a board member free swag for being positive about products. Something to think about! I think we have someone on our board like that already! lol Maybe?

I have no idea who you could possibly be talking about  :-\ Though I would guess that if someone did get free things he would return any favors 10 fold when he could!

Can we assume that whatever the limited color is will be offered with a brick of the unlimited and/or with a new dvd they're releasing, or has it been specifically stated what they're doing?

53
Are there any other shipping methods you can offer?  I love the fathom and black dealers at $4.48 each, but $7 shipping from NY to DC is ouchie.  I'd be ok with the wait of standard shipping.

Ooops, I just spent about $100 (shipping included) on decks...you tell me which you would rather have:
the 12 listed in the variety bucks.OR
6 Exquisites (3 red, 3 blue) + 1 Red Pr1me - $50
1 S&M v5 on ebay - $15
6 White Lions B (2 of each color) - $36

I mean I'm not getting the same variety, I'm not getting the questionably expensive gold reserve, but I'm still happy I spent the money where I did.

+1 for the heads up CBJ!  I've been waiting for something like this on his site - picked up 2 of each color of the Lions B for under $36 (shipping included).  The 40% off effectively equaled the shipping cost, so it was basically an offer for free shipping.

I believe Anonymous is saying that even though the bid is that high, it doesn't necessary mean that the bidder will pay for the item. The bidder could have regrets about bidding that high so they'd rather just save the money and take the negative feedback hit on eBay's users feedback system.

Ohhh,  I see.  It doesn't show on the picture,  but there were five bids,  so if the winner doesn't pay for it,  the seller could offer it to the other bidders via the second chance offer.  There is the chance that all of the bidders no longer want to purchase the deck,  but there is also still a chance one of them might take it.  The bid actually started at $300 and escalated from there. I didn't think anyone would even bid at that price...

I'm strongly of the opinion that someone shill-bid the deck to that price.  The account used for the bid, while notable for having 315 positive reviews since it was created, has had only three purchases in the past year.  The only hole in my theory, however, is that the same deck sold on eBay's site in France for $419.86 on a Buy It Now from one of our own members.

What was that expression about fools and money...?  :))

Don, speaking of fools and money...why don't we band together 55 of us, all pitch in $8.25, and everyone will get a random card, and one person will get the empty tuck.  Then whenever someone voyages on they send their card to a third party until the last person is left standing.  Geeze, by then the deck will be worth a billion dollars!!!

1,100?? I've seriously gotta step up my game!

On a recent thread Bill Kalush noted he believes he has somewhere in the ballpark of 25,000 decks :)
Remember though, it's not the size of the collection that counts, it's how you use it.

Playing Card Plethora / Re: The "White Whale" Wish List

I know white whale usually refers to only one, but I guess I have a family of white whales..
Cage Gardens
White Centurions
and of course, Jerry's Nuggets

I think the bigger issue for me, especially with the Jerry's, is that I would want to open and play with them, but it's almost a sin since they're so rare.

Holy dead topic batman!

It's not dead yet!  The second prize was never claimed!  I'm a bit behind on this, but by the end of the week I'll be holding a re-drawing for the Bicycle Americana decks.

The topic's demise has been greatly exaggerated  :o, my apologies

I now live in Tennessee. It will be 12 pm central in march.

I thought I saw you say something about Memphis in another post, where in Memphis?  I lived in East Memphis off of Kirby Rd when I was in middle and high-school.

Playing Card Plethora / Re: Steampunk Playing Cards (KS)

I haven't really gotten behind any of the other SteamPunk decks, though I do own a set from T11 "SteamPunks" (copyright issues?).  I love the T11 ones because, well, they're not really steampunk in style IMO and because they have traditional courts and a great feel.  Now these cards...where I am not really a fan of the courts, at all, I love the borders.  Not the backs, which I will say are certainly above average...the borders are my favorite aspect.  I really like how they frame the back and look like they actually almost have a wooden feel. It's something a little different, which I think should be applauded.  That being said I doubt I will back, the faces just are not my favorite.

I think we might break kickstarter when these launch.

These are just above and beyond the modern designs out there for courts.  Phenomenal work.  Will there be a suicide king as well?

65
Now THAT is a court card *whistle*.  I love the non-traditional heart.

If you don't want the box you just won from Nurul with all the D&D cards I would be happy to take it off of your hands ;)

Bill, what is your ballpark estimate for how many decks you have all together?

I'm afraid I don't know. Too many is the only accurate answer. If you count the decks I've saved from my production as well as the decks I've collected (en masse sometimes). I might have 25k. It sounds insane...

If you ever need help cataloguing you could round up a group from the forum and we could have a get together haha.

An Exquisite deal indeed!  Along with the long sought after Pr1me deck courtesy of Bill Kalush....just wow.

The Conversation Parlor / Re: looking for similar decks
« on: January 29, 2014, 12:09:52 PM »
The Split Spades are one of my favorite decks and is easily a top 5 deck for handling IMO, great choice.  The stock has changed over time and it's debatable what it actually is, but one of these pros might know, I think the most recent version is very similar to Aristocrat.  Also, it's worth noting that the Split Spades aren't actually $12 on his site, it is $12 for 2 decks.

Anyways, there are a few decks I would recommend with similar handling and features:
1. Legends - one of my top 5 handling decks, designed by Mark Stutzman (the same guy who designed the Split Spades, Whispering Imps, and others). If you find them in the right places they won't break the bank either.
2. White Lions - a bit softer than the split spades, also designed by Mark Stutzman, also a David Blaine deck.  Also $12 for 2 decks, or you can get 3 (one of each color) for $20.  There is a thread that debates the difference between the Split Spades and White Lions here http://aethercards.com/discourse/playing-card-plethora/white-lions-vs-split-spaces/  . There's an even more detailed thread with all of the Blaine cards somewhere around here...
3.  Exquisites - my favorite deck, and the best for handling I've ever used.  Go to CARC and the price is extremely reasonable considering it includes shipping.
4.  Bicycle Masters (ellusionist) - if you're looking for a cheap deck with great handling that is durable, these are worth looking into.  The only thing is Ellusionist shipping can be expensive, so you might as well get the Exquisites instead as combined cost is roughly the same.  You may be able to fine some Masters on ebay on the cheap.
5.  It's worth noting that Blaine has a new deck coming out soon (when, who knows, but 'soon').  They're calling them "Gatorbacks", and I'm guessing the design and feel will be similar to the split spades.

I'm pretty upset these didn't fund.  They are easily some of my favorite cards I've seen on Kickstarter since I started collecting.

How about this everyone? You come up with the definitive list of criteria and I will make a deck that hits everything and sell them for $1000 a piece.  :D

What?

A standard bike deck with, now this is the part where a hard decision comes into play, a red OOOOR blue back now that's a $1000 deck.

The wind blew these in...

Oh wow, this is the first I've ever seen of these...gives me an idea for a potential future deck design for my performance cards as my initials are BB :)
