De'vo says: "The new Deck is called "De'vo's Blades, Blood Edition". It will have a midnight style back but in red, with white borders and white faces. Everything is pretty much the same as the white deck but with thinner borders. Price will be lower, and these still will be limited."

Personally, I think I'm gonna get these! I know a lot of people don't like De'vo but I have no problem with him. His other decks were a bit expensive but he says this one is gonna be cheaper so I'll probably get some!

Meh, I'm boycotting 100% of laziness. Printing in a different color and passing it off as a new edition = lazy.

De'vo has nothing to do with it. It's the same reason I skip out on Crown decks. TBC is a great company, but I'm not going to buy more and more of the same thing. I have several Crown decks and that's enough for me. It's a buying philosophy that saves me loads of money so I can afford more of the good stuff.  :)

This picture really don't give them justice.

No? Well I guess it's up to De'Vo to blow us all away then.

52cartes reported a little while ago that this deck has an estimate release date of late February or early March 2012.

In case the conversations around here read a bit more disjointed than before, it seems that 6insider9, the employee at USPC, deleted his posts and canceled his profile.  I could be mistaken, but he may also be the guy who was posting auctions on Ebay of rare uncuts of dubious lineage.

More succinctly, I think he was caught stealing from USPC and got fired.  Don't quote me on that, I know only a rumor, nothing factual.

De'vo said this,

‎''Blades "Blood Edition" - coming soon. Pictured are the performance edition - same awesome stock and finish combo as the other Blades. White borders and white faces much like the white edition. These are the cards you want for performing. These will be sold along with a VERY special Collector's Edition of Blood Blades that you'll have to see to believe! More to come...''

I usually end up getting them in the after-market, but they actually have a page in their store (xtremehandz.com) of all their sold-out products and what the original retail was on them:

Silver Edition, 1st & 2nd run: $7.99
White Edition: $5.99
Midnight Edition: $9.99

I've heard great things about the stock and finish used on the decks. They're limited runs.
I don't own any either but I plan on getting a couple to try out and to review.

Why did he differentiate the first deck with the second deck. Naming the first deck "High Performance" indicates that they're going to be differences with the second deck. Is the Special Edition not going to have as high as a performance as the High Performance deck? Besides, what can possibly be different from the the first two decks? One will have an added item, far better customization??? I am clueless. :??

What is special about the blades decks? and history/story behind 'em?

De'vo is big news in cardistry, or as he's prone to calling it, XCM (xtreme card manipulation).  In the early days of cardistry, he states that cardists took a lot of flack from many magicians, derisively being called "jugglers" and words to that effect.  He was one of the people that took the art out of the underground and brought it to center stage.  He's also big into similar manipulations using knives.

The Blades decks were his way of combining his two favorite arts.  They were specifically designed for XCM, and as such tended to be a little flashier than the average deck, though it handles nicely enough.  Many considered his back designs to be WAY too busy, something that got toned down a bit in the Midnight Edition.  And he doesn't care about the "Artifice factor", making some decks with full-bleed black backs and all-white fronts.  This is logical, since his deck is for cardistry more than for magic.

One of the features I like about his decks are the faces, actually.  He did something interesting, although short of a full custom job - all the black pips have a red line drawn around them, vice-versa for the red pips and the theme carried over into the court cards, colored only in white, black and red.  I thought it was a nice visual touch.

Thanks for the information @Sabacc! Now I know a little more about this one. I'll have to google some of the previous blades decks and see what the art looks like. The decks sound nice and it's cool to know a little about them, but I think the deciding factor for me will be the aesthetics. It could be cool to try some of these out though...

Basic consensus review; they don't look the best but they handle great... for a little while.  Mine still handle well a few months down the line but I haven't used them too much.

Incidentally, I think cardistry is a bit like juggling.  What's wrong with that?  Juggling's awesome.

I have a sneaking suspicion the "special edition" may just be a normal bloods done in metallic ink

That's possible, but not likely - he hasn't done any work in metallic inks so far.  But even if it is, so what?  I wouldn't mind two "colors" released at the same time., especially since the two editions are going to be the same (very reasonable) price.

You can't just go into a thread and say "I think I will get these"
It gets annoying and its pretty much useless.

Well IMO doing one edition in metallic ink just to make it "special" is quite lazy and a bad way of doing things. I mean it's like the whole monarch deck scenario where they

just created a "rare" decks themselves in hopes of driving up the price.

While I usually would I agree with this, I think in this case it seems a lot more reasonable, if both editions are going to be the same price, or at least a very similar price.
I would be going mental if the possible metallic ink decks, or the 'special' decks were, for instance, double the price for just some metallic ink or foil or something. But I don't think this will be the case.

Looks good! Is that metallic ink? Seems to be the norm these days so I wouldn't be surprised. It's hard to tell from the photo though.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was metallic ink. Though I think the the "special" edition of the Blood decks will be the one with metallic ink.

I think the deck in the photo is an ordinary Midnight Edition.  The red-stoned ring is "foreshadowing"...

And yes, the Special Edition in this case isn't some insane money-grab, but is actually being offered at nearly the same cost as the regular.  Neither deck is all that expensive, and the April Fool's Deck is even cheaper than that.  Thus, I want them all!  :))

One guess on the AFD: remember that picture of "The Handlordz Wars" he was selling on the site?  That on the back of a deck!  Detail would suffer, but I think it would still look cool, even if they only reproduced a section of the original image.

I've got the white blades and midnight decks and I really like them, I'm not really into the AOS but they handle very well so I'll most likely pick a couple up of each.

The red you see is the reflection of the ring's stone on the deck...

Maybe for the April Fool's Deck (as I already suggested, albeit with the wrong name for the print) but not the Blood Edition, regular or special.

There is a good chance that he has had bulk discounts on his past decks, so maybe they will be the same.

Anyway, I love the blood red color and the silver contrasts it superbly. I will definitely get some.

Blades are a black-or-white thing - people generally either hate them or love them, not much middle ground.  I think they're nice - not the nicest in my collection, but I'm pleased with them.  And there's no argument about the handling; they're smooth to use.

"Just for fans - the special edition Blood Blades will have a tuck that is much different than the normal Blades decks. Much simpler (as previously reported) with both silver and red foil - be ready - these are badass! Kept it simple, dark and wicked. We haven't received them yet and therefore unfortunately can't show them to you until they arrive. Good news is that they are printing this and next week. The special edition Blades are scheduled to arrive between middle of March and Beginning of April." - De'vo

I just wish he wasn't releasing so many decks at one time!

I went all out on expenses, and only worried about quality on this deck. The special edition will be a little higher than expected - $11.99 but believe me, this badboy will be worth it! Wait until I reveal more details! This will be the hottest deck of 2012 - I promise you :)'' -De'vo

Also,

"A sneek peak of De'vo's "BLOOD METAL" Edition cards will be tonight. Foil/Embossed tucks and cards with Silver Gilded edges. Coming this April. Be READY!" - De'vo

Sounds awesome.... but the price is insane. I'll just be getting the regular blood edition instead of the special ones.

I'm a bit concerned that he's releasing a silver-gilded deck.  Metal-gilded decks handle poorly in general.  But then again, this deck series is noted for its handling above all else.  Wait and see, wait and see...

Covered in silver, I guess.

I had to chuckle at the "silver gilded" thing. That's rather oxymoronic.

Doubt I'll be getting one of these. I've grown weary of the continual "blood/death/demons/skulls" aesthetic that seems so pervasive in playing cards. We need more stuff like kittens, rainbows and tulips to balance out all this negative mojo. Hmm, the kitty tulip deck...has potential...

OK, got it.  My mistake.  I was under the impression that the Blood Metal edition was silver-edged, like gilded edges are covered in gold.  What is the term for the silver equivalent of a gilded edge?

I'm a bit concerned that he's releasing a silver-gilded deck.
:-[ Silver Gilded does not mean covered in silver!

Denotation:
Gilded = covered in gold.
Silver gilded = SILVER COVERED IN GOLD.

Connotation:
Covered in silver, I guess.

I still am going to pick one up, my first De'Vo deck.

OK, got it.  My mistake.  I was under the impression that the Blood Metal edition was silver-edged, like gilded edges are covered in gold.  What is the term for the silver equivalent of a gilded edge?

Well technically it's vermeil, but that doesn't really roll of the tongue at all :P You could use that or "silver edges" or  "silver gilt" (although that still isn't technically correct). In the end we get the picture which is the important part.

Gilded edges of any kind can't handle worth anything. I had a few gilded decks that I ended up chucking. Not sure why anyone would ever put them on a deck of cards that touts practicality like the Blades.

Still, I'm glad they did away with that dreadful looking box. This one looks sleek and sexy. I'm still not a fan of the cards, but De'vo is winning me over slowly. Yeah, he's a bit of a douche and all but a product is a product.

Just found out that the 5 new products will go for sale on Friday, March 23rd and will ship out on Monday, March 26th!

"We just heard from the USPC and our Blades are ready to ship to our store. If all goes well, we plan on having our largest release on 26 March 2012. Due to scrap rates, we will have a very very limited amount of regular Blood Editions which we may or may not make more of. We will offer a very special 3 deck Variety pack for only $19.99 and a 6 deck variety pack for $39.99 having 1 or 2 each of our 3 brand new decks - Blades Blood Edition, Blades Blood METAL Edition (Silver Gilded) and our hilarious "Pro-Cardistry" deck(April Fools). The LIMITED EDITION Blood Wood XCM Boxes and Blood Porpers will also be for sale. Don't miss our largest release in history! A full trailer showing the products will be released on 26 March prior to the items going for sale. We can't wait to show you all the greatness!" - De'vo

I'm with Evan on this one. I LOVE red decks, especially dark red, and this design looks beautiful in my opinion. The boxes aren't te best, but like mom always said: it's on the inside that counts.

These are really nice decks! I was just wondering, do Blades have standard faces? I have never owned any of the blades. But I will defanitly be getting some of these and some of the Pro Cardistry, and now with no Blood Metals this week I have some extra money for some Valdevilles :) :)

I did the math, and I got 7pm. Can someone else help verify the time?

EDIT: I see my mistake. I thought Colorado was in the Mountain time zone. I believe Evan is correct.

The different packages available are posted here(http://www.xtremehandz.com/page/page/1177533.htm) and ready for the release at 5pm denver, colorado time. So who's getting what? I might just get the 2 Blood+2April fools deck package just to try it out.

I'll be getting two of each also. I really like the red colour used in the blood deck, but two should be enough to get some use out of. As for the April fools deck, I'll open one and leave the other. I'll probably hide the sealed one though since the box is so damn ugly!

I want to get the 6 bloods and 4 april fools but the shipping is really high for International. :( If I go with 4 of each it is only $18 shipping so I'll probably do that.

Actually, yes. I LOVE quirky and unusual decks of cards, and I love surprises, and I love to gamble. I'd rather risk $65 and get utter rubbish that I will still be able to sell in the future if worst comes to worst, then not get any, and regret it down the line.

true story, but i doubt they will sell out quick. Since everyone thinks it's a joke deck and not many would buy incredibly large amount.

I agree with what Loldude said there, I am getting 6 of each I have decided, I emailed them and the said they will ship 1st class international but cant offer me a refund. So I am going to do that. I think the April fools deck will be really interesting, I hope it is a very appealing deck to people that lots of people want to get, I am a little bummed there is no blood metals but whatever.

Well if last night's release of the Vaudeville deck is any sign of what is to happen tonight, than that seems to be true, but with only 3000 being released, I don't want to rish it at this moment.

Yeah, i might get more too. Let's just see if De'vo is gonna release jerry's review on the pro cardistry deck. From there on, i'll know if the design is appealing. Or simply just a joke.

Does anyone know how many of each deck was printed? And do we have a definite release time in EST?

I'm pretty sure it is 8pm, like you said, but once again, I might be wrong.

Secondly I din't know the number of Bloods, but the Pro Cardistry cards have only 3000 made.

Google is your friend. 'Time in Denver' into Google comes up that Denver is MDT at present. Making the time now 13:56.

EDIT - and then it's just a case of using a time converter to see that 5pm MDT is 7pm EDT.

Maybe some of the confusions stems from the fact people aren't realising that the US is in summer time, making the timezones MST and EST into MDT and EST.

I guess not a lot of people realise that when daylight saving time kicks in the name of the timezone changes. For you guys it's mostly subtle (Mountain Standard Time; Mountain Daylight Time). Here it goes from Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) to British Summer Time (BST), although most probably still say we're in GMT. ::)

I've decided to pass on everything. Porpers, I've got three and many more card clips, no need to spend another $50 on one, the wooden box is nice but $85 is just too much for me (I might even try and make my own), the blades look so similar to the others and the cardistry deck will set me back $18 for one deck shipped to the UK  ???

If anyone in the UK gets a few cardistry decks and wants to sell me one I would be grateful. Cheers

I got 3 Bloods and 2 Cardistry decks, which cost about $32, what surprised me was the $31 for shipping to Canada! Completely ridiculous if you ask me, but if I want the decks I don't have much choice do I now. Anyone know when the Blood Metal is supposed to be coming out?

They ask you on the catalogue page to read about shipping information. Shipping of five decks to Canada is $17.95. They will refund the difference between that and what you paid through either PayPal or your card, depending on which you used.

I was supposed to be out with this release, but they say that the shipment got damaged and so pulled it out. I don't know when they plan on releasing them now.

It was the ONLY one that got a second edition.  I'd say the odds aren't good.

Just got an e-mail:

"This message was sent to you at the request of Xtremehandz.com, to notify you that they have shipped a package to you."

the estimated delivery is 1-3 days. Anyone got similar e-mails yet?

Yup, mines has been shipped today too. Had to check the junk folder - hotmail doesn't seem to like Handlordz' emails and keeps sending them there! Mines is international too, so it would appear they're on top of both domestic and international orders, assuming that they did indeed have a surge of orders over the weekend, which would seem fair given the sell-out of this deck. Can't see I'm on tenterhooks waiting for this deck. I really like the red colour, but I'll probably just take it out to have a look and set it on the shelf. I'm not quite at the stage where I avoid buying De'Vo's products, but I certainly dislike the individual enough to not feel encouraged to buy from there.

Got my 4 Bloods in today! This is the first deck from De'vo I've ever owned so I can't compare to his previous decks, but I do like the design on these with the deep red on the backs. They also handle pretty well, so overall I'm pleased.

I got my 2 decks today and I am a little disappointed. It's my first De'vo deck so I didn't really know what to expect handling wise but it doesn't handle well out of the box. Hopefully it will feel nicer once I break it in. The decks is pretty cool and I love the coloring of the court cards but the back design seems to be lacking something.

Really? the blades are renowned for handling amazingly straight out of the box. I've got all the others and without exception they all handle amazingly at first before getting worse.

I missed out on these so can't compare at the moment I'll try and pic some up from a reseller.

I don't understand why all these deck releases happen one week before payday when funds are tight. rather than the first of the month when we are all flush.

I thought they weren't very good out of the box either, but after working them around a bit I thought they handled well. Not spectacular, just well.

I got mine today as well, it handles well out of the box, fanning and faro seems fine too.

I just notice the barcode gives us a little hint...  ;)

Maybe it's just telling us it's 15T 3D1T10N(1st edition) ? does the 8100 D in front mean 8100 Decks are printed? also, does anyone have any previous blades so maybe the barcode can be compared?

So I didn't actually intend to purchase any of this deck.  As a collector I like the Blades series and wouldn't mind having them, but they just weren't anything special to me.  I did however order two decks of the April Fool's Deck.  But what did I get in the mail yesterday?  2 decks of Blades - Blood.  Boy was I disappointed... I guess I'll keep em (considering they are sold out), but I'm re-ordering my Pro Cardistry decks.  I WANT MY UNICORNS!

Yeah I read that, when the Whites and Midnights were released De'vo would keep saying he "Might" reprint them or he was "Unsure" whether to or not. Despite alot of people asking for them to be reprinted he decided that they wouldn't be reprinted.

Like I said, I hope i'm wrong.

Handlords facebook a few days ago:
Blood Metals and another small run of the blood edtions will be here on Monday. Won't be for sale though until the Porpers get here. In a couple of weeks (hopefully)

Handlordz Facebook last night:

BLOOD METAL BLADES AND THE 2ND BLOOD EDITION RUN ARE HERE! First thoughts - We liked the 1rst run of the Blood Edition but De'vo wanted to improve the handling. We worked with the USPC and these 2nd runs handle like a dream! These 2nd runs have quickly climbed on De'vo's list of favorite cards. You have to try these out! The Blood Metal boxes have been completely reprinted and are beautiful. The cards themselves look awesome! You do need to break them in for a good 30 minutes as the gilding causes them to stick and clump badly. Once you peel them apart and separate them through shuffles etc... they actually handle decently. Although these cards are more for show than action. These awesome cards will be for sale once the Blood Porper clips and the 20 Blood Wood Boxes arrive at our store.

I am very happy about this, I love the blood blades and will be picking a few more bloods up. And probably 2 Blood Metals.

Better than what?  A stick of butter?  A dirty diaper?  A Yugo?

And they make a MESS as the metallic paint flakes off of the card edges.  It gets everywhere.  That's what gilded decks are like.  I was never a fan of them - pretty to look at, not so much fun to use.

He didn't say they handled well. Here is what he said, and I quote:
"You do need to break them in for a good 30 minutes as the gilding causes them to stick and clump badly. Once you peel them apart and separate them through shuffles etc... they actually handle decently."
Which means they aren't the worse deck ever but they aren't close to being good either.
