Some of you know that I've been updating the board about new and recently-closed Kickstarter projects having to do with playing cards.  This one managed to fly right under the radar - it didn't kick out on a search with the keywords "playing cards" because it was being marketed as a card game that coincidentally happens to be a a pack of playing cards as well!

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/trevorcram/woe-to-the-living-the-game-of-classic-pulp-horror-0?ref=users

Even if you have no interest in the game at all, the cards are really cool - the artwork is in the style of 1950s pulp-horror comic books!  Even the card backs are cool!

The Kickstarter ENDED on March 16 - but don't despair!

I was in touch with designer Trevor Cram (Send Message at KS here).  He's STILL ACCEPTING BACKING using the rewards he offered on his project!  Contact him and he'll give you instructions on paying him via PayPal and including you in the project as a backer.

He's using customplayingcards.com for this project - I know some of you are groaning and complaining already - but it's still a very cool deck and I love the art on this.  If you like your playing cards both scary and pulpy without a single (coughKARNIVALcough) skull in sight, I'd get in touch with Trevor - sooner rather than later!  I'm also trying to talking him into switching printers, if it's not too late - I suggested Brahma.

Didn't you call me a kid for bashing a designer while boasting a different one? Wait a second, you're a little older and thus more mature and incapable of hypocracy. That, and your words are gold to all us little people. Cheers Fella.

It's not bashing in this case.  It's simply commentary.  It was actually humor, if you want to get right down to it!  I seem to recall someone liking the vaguely spookier aspects of some decks but being tired of all that black and all those skulls...  :))

Personally, I like Karnival.  But I like this, too.

Lol I'm all about it. My personal most anticipated deck of 2012 is the Inferno Deck...where is my outright Sinister deck?

Some of the cards look pretty cool. However, most of them look a little too cheesy for my liking.

From the publisher of the WttL deck:

PS - Our website should be functional enough to order off of for pre-orders (they're in the production phase right now)..  http://www.touchpaperpress.com/portfolio/woe-to-the-living/  If you notice something not working, please let me know so I can help.  :)

Don, if you'd like to add that to your spiffy post or just direct them there, that would be appreciated.

I'm awaiting word as to whether Josh and Trevor are working with the KS backer pricing or if they're only taking orders at the pre-order/retail pricing.

They didn't offer, I didn't ask.  I'm just doing this because I think it's an awesome deck.  I remember their previous successful KS project when it was featured on the front page.  I plan on sending them cash tonight for decks once I make sure my cellphone service won't get turned off!  ;)
