Title: Brick Box
Post by: loldudex2 on October 04, 2011, 07:18:18 PM
Can you please, please, please, please, PLEASE make a custom brick box like the v6's?

Post by: Evan on October 04, 2011, 07:19:16 PM
I just wanna say, this is a GENIUS idea!!!!! I wish I could afford a brick right now.

I agree a custom brick box would be pretty cool. But I have to question exactly how much more money Alex would need. 3 or more times as many v6's were printed than the Vortex will be and given that USPCC has worked with D&D in the past would allow me to assume that a much larger run would be required to have a custom brick box for the Vortex. I could be wrong but then I don't see why every new deck on the market would not have a custom designed brick box.

Guys, the reason D&D can afford a custom brick box isn't because they're generous enough to take a huge hit in profits and make it for you guys. It costs quite a bit of money to make them, and since they create 15-20k decks, their cost per deck to produce is less than HALF of what it costs me to print a 5k run.

I'd love the idea of doing metallic inks, Bee stock, custom brick boxes and embossing - but that is something that future decks will have to wait for.

It will be quite a struggle to even make enough money to fund this deck.

Sorry guys. :/

No worries Alex, that is exactly what I had figured. I really doubt there is going to be anyone extremely disappointed because there is no custom brick box. :p

Alex, how could this not be funded it;s amazing, but god forbid it doesn't i may have to stop collecting handling cards for a while because i would be depressed i don't own these beauties .

They aren't going to do a custom brick box for the first deck. Maybe in future decks we will see it.

Title: Re: Brick Box

Not sure why people would buy more of a deck because the brick box is custom - that seems like a waste of money on my end and something totally useless for you guys that also ends up hiking up the price per deck.

If there is enough interest and our funds allow for it, I'm not one to reject the idea, so we can do a custom box for the second Vortex (which I've already named, and it's hard to not use the name!)

With the next iteration, there are several things I plan on doing to increase their quality as a priority. If we can surpass our $22,000 goal by enough on Kickstarter, I can actually add amazing things to the next deck without raising the consumer costs.

I would much rather see better features on a deck then a brick box. I didn't know it cost that much, and it is a waste if that's the only reason you buy it. I just thought if it was cheap enough, it would be cool and all, but deck features come first.

Custom boxes are cool for sure but I'm in no hurry for them with the Vortex deck and my only problem with embossing is that they don't go into a porper as nicely.

The porper problem is what keeps me from embossing anything at the moment. I have some other awesome ideas that I want to work out with the USPCC though, so by god I hope this Kickstarter succeeds because I want nothing more than to show you guys how much more I'm capable of.

I'd have to print a minimum of 2,500 decks for each color. That would mean an extra $8000 per color.

It's simply not in the budget. :P

The Vortex deck is meant to be a trilogy series. This is the first of three. The next two will be different colors, but also will be completely new back designs (that stay the same thematically).

I would love to print one or two more colors of this original edition, but that won't be for a while. It all depends on how successful this Kickstarter is basically.

If I remember the story correctly, some girl who works for the USPCC stole some unreleased decks and soldmthem on eBay. Her eBay location was like 15 mins away from Erlanger, KY.

Yes, the decks were stolen but they were never sold on ebay. All of the auction were shut down and all bids canceled. Because of this I can only assume the proper action was taken by USPCC. Also, why are you surprised it was a girl? Everyone wants money but some are more willing to sacrifice their morals to gain it.

Not many girls are into this cardistry, nor collection.
Thats why I'm surprised
Title: Re: Brick Box
Post by: loldudex2 on October 09, 2011, 07:26:46 PM
Also, it doesn't seem like something a girl would do. I don't know why, but usually when I think of stealing something, I think of men doing it.
Title: Re: Brick Box
Post by: Curt on October 09, 2011, 08:33:46 PM
I doubt the woman who was caught for stealing was a collector or practised cardistry. If she did either of those she would have known how simple it was to tell she had stolen the decks, because they were not even released yet. I think it most likely was a disgruntled employee who found out how much certain decks can be sold for and tried to make a quick buck
