New info - credit goes to the blog at Brooke Michael's Poker World

The Bicycle Nautic Back No. 55 design was originally created in 1919. The design was hand drawn to incorporate a high level of detail. The intricate detail was typical of cards produced in the late 1800's and early 1900's. While this deck was inspired by original artwork, some changes have been made to give it a more modern feel. The back design was inverted and the border was removed. In addition, brand new artwork was created for the custom ace of spades. As with most releases that come directly from Bicycle, the finish will be Air-Cushion and the stock will be traditional Bicycle.
Release date should be shortly.

I like that it appears to be a mix of old-timey style with a more modern inverted-color look.

At first glance it instantly reminded me of the Archangles deck.

I like the green color Theory11 used when they released these instead of just black and white.

It was part of their Heritage Series. Came with three other decks.

Oh, yeah, I remember now...  It's really more like USPC's Heritage Series - that was the third set of three so far USPC released.  Though I have to admit I haven't seen it selling elsewhere - but that was the same case for the previous two Heritage Series releases; they were exclusives to BJ's Club stores.

I think the black-on-white is pretty cool - it reminds me of the Split Spades Bee decks.  One was black, one was inverted black.  Many of the Split Spades releases were actually inverted colors like this deck.

Oh, I wasnt aware there were other sets. Where were they released from Don?

I suppose that if I hadnt seen the green ones, I'd think these were pretty nice. But comparing the two, I much prefer the green ones. Ya feel me?

I agree, they did remind of the Archangels at first glance. But I liked the Archangels a lot so that's not a bad thing at all! I'm looking forward to this release  :)

I really, really like that back. I like it a lot more than the T11 one. I like the look of the Archangels deck too, but I think I like this a little better. That inverted back really came out great.

Not certain, exactly - but we have a few topics on the Blaine decks you can check out for more info.  I'm pretty sure that the Bee Split Spades predate the existence of this board.

I dig that you like the greens.  They're fine as well.  But the green Nautics have been done before - most of the classic Bicycle backs were done in red, blue, green and brown.  This inverted black is a whole different story.  Me likey.  :))

Deck looks very interesting, especially with the inverted backs.

I like the deck, just as I liked theory11's Archangels. With that being said, is it just me, or does the back design and AoS pop more in this deck. The black color looks "richer".

I found these Nautic Back decks at a Phoenix-area Walmart on Monday. They come in two flavors, white and dark pink. The dark pink deck has a full bleed dark pink background on the card backs. Otherwise, the decks are standard except for the AoS. Personally, I prefer the Theory 11 Nautic decks, for the card back design detail. These inverted backs remind me of a Rorschach inkblot test.

Wow - I figured that Brooke Michael's Poker World or perhaps even Wingra Direct would have been carrying them first.  Another deck hits relelase...

It sounds like with the pink version they're using this deck to try capturing more of the female market.  I'm guessing they look a lot like those pink-backed Harley Davidson cards that Wingra put on clearance for 99ยข each last year (and which I think they're STILL trying to unload).

...yup, I confirmed it.  "Pink Harley Davidson Butterfly by Bicycle," still at the same price.

Hey, whiskey3, could you take a few photos for the gang and post them here?

I'm not exactly next door to a WalMart...  You'd think I would be by now, but I'm not.  The locals here stubbornly resist them coming to their neighborhoods and wrecking a good percentage of the local economy.  But as whiskey3 said, you can get the pink ones at some locations.

I'm not close to any either. I'd have to drive out a good 45min to the closest one. Unfortunately, even if I made the trip all the way out to one, they don't carry anything worth while. All the CVS, Walgreens, and Walmarts in my area carry only Bikes and the standard ones at that. I've seen my local Target carry the Dragon Back Bikes once. Other than that, all my buying needs to be online. Even for a cheap deck of Bikes.

I think the white ones were okay, but the pink ones are just (sigh)... I can see their goal, but neon pink? That's just doing to much. I believe it'd be much better if it was a lighter shade. Somewhat easier on the eyes. Perhaps I'll pick up the white ones though if they are at my local Walmart.

I know WalMart does carry a few other brands, Streamline in particular, but aside from that one brand and Bicycle the rest are dollar-store junk decks.

CVS has several of their own branded decks - you'll see the CVS logo printed on the bottom of the tuck box.  They're made by Cartamundi.  AVOID THEM LIKE THE PLAGUE.  Cheapest-made garbage you've ever seen in a tuck box, and only marginally less expensive than Bicycles...

Yeah, that pink...  You'd think they learned from the Harley Davidson decks they're still offloading for $0.99 a pack would have taught them a lesson, but apparently not.  I suppose young, pre-teen girls will find them attractive, though that's not the biggest target market out there for playing cards.  They could have done so many other things than neon pink printed to the bleed that would have been nicer than this.  It's disappointing.

Well, you might want to handle them with care - shopbicyclecards.com no longer carries them, and bicyclecards.com only displays the white deck now, as if the pink one never existed.  I'm guessing it wasn't a very big seller...though I did finally manage to find both colors at a local Walmart.

Well, when your ton sells out, I'm not so sure you'll be getting more.  When USPC stops displaying a product on bicyclecards.com, it usually has one foot in the grave already.  They probably dumped them cheap to Walmart to get rid of them.  Walmart can sell practically anything because they sell practically EVERYTHING.  And I can see why card sales would be light, at least at my Walmart - they're often out of cards or have a terrible selection, and half or more of what's being offered most times I visit are cheaply made off-brand decks.  Playing cards get buried in the toy section, except for red/blue two-packs of Bicycle Standard which are sometimes placed near the register.  The people more likely to use playing cards and repurchase them over and over, however, aren't the kind of people who troll the toy aisle - they're poker players; mostly grown adult males, often single, more often childless.
