Hey guys,

With UC relaunched, Mike ( ) and I have thrown around the idea of a Bicycle branded UnitedCardists. com deck.

It would be Mike's second release, the first being the Bicycle Premiere back.

What do you guys think?

from what I can tell from his posts here, Mike seems like a bit of a scumbag. Don't think I'd buy a deck from him.

I don't know about Mike himself but I like BMPoker World. I wasn't a huge fan of the Premier deck but it looks like a fine deck. I would be interested in seeing another deck from them!

I'm all for it just as long as the customization is going to be good. Money's tight right now, juggling between many items to purchase, and, I'm not very fond about decks that take less than an hour to produce.

The 1st back design is a one way design, the diamond in the middle of the united cardist line, one part of its shaded if fliped it on the other side.

Sure thing. I like the back with the UC logo rather than the written-out name in the diagonal stripe. It's bold without being overwhelming or stupid-looking.

Just out of silly curiosity, if this wasn't going to be a Bicycle-branded deck, would you buy it anyway?

Kidding, of course. I like the spare design aesthetic. Simple back pattern without being boring, three-color courts... I'm not even a member and I might buy some.

I'm adding this to the NDR as well. Keep us posted on progress and pre-order/order dates!

I'm going to have to agree with the fact that although I'm not a member of UC I might have to pick up the deck. The green is nice on the courts and I like the logo back design as well. I'm not really sure what you would call the blackish pattern on the back (diamond I guess?) but I do like it.

I did think about showing the Back with a Black border to bring up the idea of doing a black deck, but it seems like they're definitely not as popular nowadays. It would definitely go nicely with the Tuck Box as well, which is almost finished.

Black isn't completely out of style - look at the last two Artifice decks, Purple and Black Club. Alex raises an excellent point in that, thematically, black does connect it to the UC board's color scheme better.

Here's a funny thought: make the courts with black instead of white, but frame an area around the faces and make that area white instead of black - like a profile photo! I think that would look not only very cool but incredibly unique.

Wow!!!! Randy has just sent me some final pictures for you guys to take a look at. He has done 2 different tuck boxes, one with a diamond on the front and one with a traditional AOS. In addition, he also made a slight change on the back design, adding something detail between where the UC logos meet each other. You will also get a look at the seal. Feedback is welcome and expected.

I like the diamond on the front of the tuck as it balances well with the back in my opinion. The spade is really nice but I prefer it to remain solely on the card. Beautifully done. Looks slick and I look forward to picking up a deck or two!

Also, here's a look at the Gaff Queen of Hearts and the 2 Jokers.
The Jokers are computer mice in a style similar to the AOS. One OFF and the other ON.

I like where this is heading to, but the courts don't look good to me with that raised box effect (not sure how to call it - 3D pop out effect, maybe?). I think the deck can perfectly go without it.

The jokers are nice, the idea behind it is very good. Some may have trouble recognizing that reference, though. That isn't a standard computer mouse, you know...

The tuck box is perfect, as I stated before.

P.S. Oh, and I wouldn't use green on the court's faces. That queen looks like it's possessed by evil forces or maybe just nauseated.

The photo on the first page of this thread shows that the green on the court cards are on the courts' clothing. Good thing it's not on the faces cause that would be horrible. I think the green actually looks really nice with the gray as well on the court cards.

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to come in and say a few things. It's my opinion that when creating a Deck with standard faces, albeit re-colored, the most important aspect with the Cards is that the Back, AOS and Joker come together to form a "brand identity" to help sell the theme of the Deck (the Moonshine Deck did this beautifully!).

The Joker is open for experimentation and has more leeway than the Back and AOS, but it still needs to mesh well with the other two. I think the UC Joker flows nicely with the UC Back and AOS to sell the look of the UC forum - futuristic / Matrix-like / SciFi.

As for the Joker design itself, there's quite a few computer mice that have had a similar vibe in the past - mostly for Mac users. I started off with the AOS shape and rotated it 180 degrees, which also gave it somewhat of a "face" silhouette. The 2 green buttons at the top are meant to also be form abstract "eyes". With the middle roller ball and small green light at the bottom loosely representing a "nose" and "mouth" the overall mouse could also be seen as a Joker face with a Jester's hat thrown in to finish it off. A chorded mouse may not be futuristic but it needed that element to sell the idea. Plus, it just looks cool!

I originally did a hand-drawn Joker sitting at.a Desk and doing a Fan with one hand while working on a laptop with the other hand. The drawing came out nice. I scanned it in and started adding loose structures of color. It was looking great on it's own but once I compared it with the UC Back and AOS it stood out like a red-headed stepchild! So, I scrapped a few hours worth of work and started on the Joker we have now. I guess my point is you can do the coolest Joker in the world, but if it doesn't mesh well with the Back and AOS it's useless!!

Yes they are. Both the Kickstarter page for this deck and the BMPW pages state that this deck will be printed on "Traditional Bicycle stock" and will have "Air-Cushion Finish".

According to USPC, everything is Bicycle stock + Air-Cushion finish. Apparently Magic finish is fake. They also have a Bee stock, and that's it.

According to Xntrix from E, USPC only gives these options to random customers, but works with big clients like E, T11, etc. to produce custom finishes and stocks. Not sure how much of that I believe though.

Believe it - Bill Kalush said as much to me. He worked with USPC as he was pushing to develop a unique finish and unusually-thin but strong stock for his Erdnase 216 decks. It took several months, based on some of what he's shown me, perhaps a year-and-a-half or more.

I've spoken with Bill Kalush, the head of the Conjuring Arts Research Center. According to him, that's what they tell the small customers. When you're making several decks with them, they're willing to work with you to create something different - such as his finish on the Bee Erdnase 216.

The other decks are sold (pre-order) to the members of UnitedCardists. Its cheaper but has less rewards (like the free grid deck etc.)

This deck is gorgeous - easily one of my favorites

I've just received this deck the past few days, and they are absolutely amazing. There's so much detail put into the tuck box and the cards look amazing.

Yep, size 15. I wear running shoes simply because they are so lightweight. If your foot is this big, heavy shoes will have you worn out by the end of the day!

Those are no boats - way too small... Those are SHIPS.

I get where you're coming from on the heavier footwear. That happens when I've been wearing my work boots for a long enough time. Just a size 10, though - more of a destroyer compared to yours...

But back on topic - I got my deck and I was pretty impressed with the narrowness of the margin (USPC must've had a field day getting those done right) and the foil in the tucks is a very nice touch. If they were a bit more reflective and a different color, the tucks could make excellent shiners...

My youngest daughter (11) isn't impressed with a lot of the cards that I purchase (and I buy a LOT). She absolutely loves these!
