Given that neither the print nor the e-book version of the Hochman Encyclopedia show a picture of the Ace of Spades for the NY47 Patent Squeezers listing in the NYCC chapter, I thought I would share a photo of this elusive card with my fellow playing card collectors.

I'm frequently tickled pink by the idea that so much of the world of playing cards, at least in this country, got its start within the borders of New York City.  I'm a native of the city and still live in its suburbs - living within the city limits gets kind of expensive, especially in the more popular neighborhoods, and not simply because the rents are so much higher.  I've probably walked past the former headquarters and print shops of many of these companies (or at the least, their former locations before they were torn down) without even realizing it!
