Hi, just thought I'd share a recent pck up of mine, I got them off ebay for £3.50/$5.50ish, I've found them online from one store for £35/$55 so I think I got a gooooood price :), here are some pics and also a little info I copied and pasted off the website selling them..... so far all I can say about them is that they are ultra stiff and have a smooth finish to them but they are so stiff, they dont fan very well either but still they look nice and would be good for cardistry or a game of cards.

A very good deal but don't they come with a box? Show me the box and the online store selling them for $55 a deck >:( >:(

Ah, that one thing the box, I do have it but it's mashed up, the decks come in a set of four and the seller only had the one left, he sent me the box but it's not in good condition, here's a picture.. and here the link to the site selling them, halfway down the page, http://www.collectorsplayingcards.co.uk/cardsale_magPinMisc.htm

I know nothing about gambling if the bottom card is to do with that, what's the bottom card mean or whats it used for?

Ah, that's why they don't go for as high a price as the other ones. No boxes. :P
Those are pretty nice, I like the back a lot and the aces, although not exactly in good taste, at least have some originality.

Yeh, the aces have a kind of vintage look to me and yeh the price would have been lower because of them being out of the box I guess but the ones on the website are also out of the box, they came in fantastic condition but they as many old decks have a little bend in the center.

Um, exactly what about them is "sealed"? That is false advertising...

On the site you mentioned, it's a new deck and the bottom card is 4 of Clubs:

Perhaps it is simply Fournier's tradition, I noticed the "CS" mark on the card.

They are sealed but not in a box they are sealed in thin cellophane, that's the actual deck itself. Like offason Anglos :)

I believe that the 4 of clubs mark functions like deck seals did back in the days when there was a tax on playing cards. And just like how the tax stamps were eventually replaced with manufacturer's stamps, the marks on a modern Fournier deck's 4 of clubs just indicate who manufactured the deck. I've seen similar in pictures of an Argentinian deck that was made in the US but rubber stamped on a specific card to indicate that the import duty was paid.
