Nice little piece of history. They look, as you'd expect given the age, just like the Bicycle 125th Anniversary deck. Maybe if you dipped that deck in tea for a while and let it dry it would come out like Jason England's? ;D
Oh, Lawd!

I have been wanting to say this but have had a chance to here. But don't the monarchs use a similar joker? Making their joker not so 'customised'?

He doesn't have a precise year. He's estimating the date based on the name of the co. i.e. Russel & Morgan
Mentalist, Sleight of Hand Artist, Amateur Flourisher.

Thats incredible! I didn't even know that gilded bike decks ever existed.
It's also a good thing that he knows a lot about the deck instead of someone who knows nothing. He is real lucky to own that deck.

Guess this'll be when I, jmrock, or digipunk may pop in.
The Rider Back was first introduced in 1887. The US8A Joker and AoS are indeed the very first set of them used by the company.
Russell & Morgan Printing Co. was the name of the company from 1885-1891.
Gilded edges were often seen back then. Back in the days, around 1920, you could add $6 per gross for your decks to be gold edged. And these Bicycle cards only costed $60 per gross.

I'm guessing that is $60 in today's money? Historic inflation calculator puts $60 today at ~$1,430 in 1887 meaning each deck cost ~$10.

For some reason, I'm reading your sentence and feel that it should be the other way around. It's $60 back then, equivalent to today's ~$1430.

Haha, yes I said it strange. Basically it was a lot of money by today's standards.

Wow simply amazing, wonder how Jason got his hands on them
Mystery is the basic appeal of magic. Once the secrets are known, the magician becomes a mere manipulator, an actor in a suspense drama which has little impact because the audience knows the ending in advance.
