*** I modifid the title from "Friars Club" to "Bicycle Holiday" ***

I posted this set yesterday on UC, but only one man contacted me and he wanted to trade. So now I have to try here.
Now I have one more set for sale. It was ordered by a member here but he now has some difficulties with the payment. If you are interested in these decks, please PM me. I am in Taiwan, please let me know where you are in the PM. The total price for this set is $40 plus $6.5 postage (registered airmail), in other words, $46.5 in total.

Please note that the ORANGE decks are sealed and in perfect condition, but the remaining DARK BLUE ones have some scratches on them. They are sold as is.
pics are here:

Comparison: eBay search result

Also, I have a spare set of Biycle Racer Back No.2 GOLD EDGES for sale. $88 a set, shipping not included.
Comparison: http://www.ebay.com/itm/380349286229

And several sets of Bicycle Holiday tin sets. $28 a set, shipping not included.
Comparison: eBay search result

Thank you  ;)

Actually I charged $5 for shipping 2 decks worldwide if you read my post on UC (and I paid another $1.5 for the "registered" option in order to track the package). OK, PM me if interested.

Thank you, Kanped. It's a smooth transaction.

These decks were completely sold out in Japan 2 weeks ago, they are no more available. I mean now the only way to get them is go to eBay, and buyers have to compete with each other.

It is not a matter of luck, nor did I get them from Santa Claus ::)
You have to explorer all the avenues and spend time, money, and efforts to get the good stuff you want. No one would come to knock your door and ask you take them.

Yes it's Chinese. It's what we call Red Pockets. During the Chinese New Year (not Jan. 1st), those who are married and/or has a job, will give these envelops filled with money to the singles, children and those who are not working. It's a sign of good luck.

Most of the times there will be writings on these envelops, to wish the receiver good luck, although at times it could be just pictures or last name of the giver. In this particular case, the writing reads "wish everything goes well as to your wish", or something like that.

Someone could probably add on to this, it's just on top of my head. ;)

There's one thing you don't know... they were free in the convenience stores by CNY ;D ;D
I got too many, so...

I thought the buyer (in UK) of this Bicycle Holiday set might like them. At least D&D has taught many people the Chinese word "龍" (dragon) :-\ :-\

You don't honestly think that many non-Chinese speakers buying the Chinatown deck actually took the time to remember the characters for "dragon", do you?   ;D

"龍" (dragon) happens to be a very difficult character for non-Chinese speakers, I guess they can only remember its outline and someday might confuse it with "能" (the auxiliary verb "can" in English).

You reminded me that it's time to collect 2012's Wynn $8 chip :o :o

its called "HONG BAO" Red Bag/Envelope. Its used to place money in to give as presents during weddings, special events and what not. Sometimes I just use it to put money that I budget in. ^_^

now a days here in China they just use it when they don't know what gift to give to someone so they just give them a hongbao.

Ohh..thanks. Those sets look old and their condition is "used" ;)
Even though they are new and in good shape, they have only 2 sets. After they are sold out, mine are still the cheapest :P

Just sent the package, the tracking number is RA274014339TW

You may trace the package soon on these websites:
TW PO (en): http://postserv.post.gov.tw/webpost/CSController?cmd=POS4009_1
USPS: https://tools.usps.com/go/TrackConfirmAction

According to my experience, a registered international airmail from TW to SG takes 4 days to be delivered, to UK or CA takes 6-8 days, and to US or AU takes 10-14 days. ;)

@anep21, I was interrupted by other things when I was replying your message, and I didn't send it. sorry :-\ :-\

I won't buy items for anyone. If I did this once, then others would ask me to do likewise for them. This is the 4th or 5th time I have to say sorry I don't buy items for anyone. This is my principle. There are too many collectible decks still cheap here, I can not buy them for everyone.

All items I sell on these forums are those I already have (all of them were bought one year ago) and I think they are spare ones to me. Hope you understand this is different from buying item for others.

There are 3 ways you may get this deck from TW:
1. one day I happen to buy other decks from the sellers who are also selling this deck, I will buy it for you.
2. you have a deck that I want and you ask me to get this deck to trade for it.
3. you go to ebay and find a TW seller and ask them to get this deck for you. I guess they may do this for you easily. Those sellers often have good relationships between them. They might charge you more though (as far as I've seen, they charge more on eBay for the same item).

For example, this seller is in TW: http://stores.ebay.com/hung1363. I don't know who he is (actually he should be one of the sellers here I know, but they always use different ids on eBay). Since he lists items on eBay, he should be able to communicate with you in English and would like to sell decks worldwide.

 :) :)

Sorry took so long to post this, been very busy last two days. I ordered from Digipunk and the service was great, package wonderful, no damage what so ever and arrived quickly. Perfect.

Thank you.

Also, just wanted to see if anyone knew (slightly off topic) one of the decks came without add cards? I know this is in no way your fault Digipunk and I am not complaining (let's face it I only ever keep the add cards if I can't be arsed to lose them). It came sealed in cello and seal - was there just a general lack of add cards from uspcc? Or...

Thanks again digipunk - totally recommended.

What do you mean the "add cards"? I may open other decks to confirm this, but what are "add cards"? :o
Could you show me the pics?  :o

*PS: hazofhorsham is the buyer of the last Holiday Back set.

What he meant was "ad cards", as in the extra cards in the deck used for advertising.  While it's not common these days, USPC did occasionally release some of their models with less than the commonly found fifty-six in a pack (fifty-two playing cards, two jokers, and two cards with advertising).  I just opened a pair of really old-looking Cincinnati Bee bridge-sized decks (I don't think they make them anymore), and the packs came with jokers but without ad cards.

It's entirely possible that USPC felt it inappropriate to include ad cards in a holiday-themed deck like that without someone taking offense to it.  I couldn't begin to guess the reason it was left out of the bridge deck, other than that with a deck of such a comparatively low print run and a smaller card size, maybe no advertisers were interested.

If anyone was curious to determine the age of my decks, I have one of them on me now at work.
* Cincinnati box
* Blue sticker with a white margin turned semi-transparent from aging
* Loose cellophane; practically fell off the deck
* Old-style tuck back ("Extra Selected for Club Special")
* Long lid flap
* AoS date code is E1400, which would pin it down to either 1983 or 2003.
* White background on the tuck box has a yellow patina.

If I had to guess (and it would be a guess) I'd say it was 1983.  I might even be able to get more - they were something like $3 a pack!

Just opened a set, please see pics below.

It is interesting to know the RED cards are face up and the GREEN cards are face down in the box. The last picture shows the order of 56 cards, note that the 2 decks are different. Besides, the RED deck is classical cut (back to face) and the GREEN deck is traditional cut (face to back). "T" on the AoS denotes 1994. They handle better than I expected.

@hazofhorsham, I still don't understand what you meant. :o :o

Now I am cleaning the sticker and its residue :karrit: :karrit:

It's very interesting that they mixed the cuts for these two decks.

Rule of thumb: when opening a brand new USPC deck, if the top of the cards are at the top of the box, they're traditionally cut.  If the cards' tops are at the bottom of the box, they used the modern cut on them.  I forget where I learned that tidbit from, but it's interesting to know.  You'll notice if you haven't already that almost every new deck is packed top-to-bottom, particularly Standard Bikes.

Just sent the package, the tracking number is RA274014339TW
USPS: https://tools.usps.com/go/TrackConfirmAction

Nathan, we need to talk, what does "missent" mean?

1. incorrect ZIP code?
2. incorrect address?
3. your family refused to sign the small parcel?

No, I don't know what happened.
I check the shipping status everyday, see it arrived at Customs, USPS facility, arrival at unit, and... missent...WTF :mindf-ck:
Sometimes if the buyer is not at home to sign the package, I will see "1st attempted delivery" in the tracking system. But this time it says "missent", I don't know what happened.

Is the address right?
Maybe misspent means the address doesn't exist.

Maybe the guy who delivered the package sent it to a wrong address and the receiver returned it. Possibly they'll try it again tomorrow and Nathan would have it in his hands.

I know, I Google'd "missent USPS" before I posted the previous messages. It's one of the possibilities, but I don't believe I would make such a stupid mistake... :-\ :-\
I hope things will end up a good result.

In worst case, the decks should be returned to you.

Actually, the worst case is that it's missent to some other person and he/she signed and received it. Then the package is lost and neither Nathan nor digipunk would get it.

Wow. I'm really sorry that happened. I don't know why. No, I didn't get anything from UPS saying I wasn't at home when they delivered. And the package wasn't refused either. I really have no clue what happenned... what should I do?

No, in that case it wouldn't have said missent because someone would have received it...
I don't know what to do...

Did you lose any money because of this?

That's really weird... It's weird because I bought from many other sellers on the Discourse without a problem. But it's ok since it's not your fault... Can you please PM me the adress you sent it to?

I'll bet it ended up on the wrong truck somewhere. Don't worry. It will get there.

I hope things will end up a good result.

These kinds of things happen with the US Postal Service.  They're great when everything works well, terrible when things don't.  I had a brick of Black Crowns get sent back to Blue Crown because the post office employee who handled it at my P.O. though there was no such person at the address - the address being my P.O. Box, which I'd been using for a few years at that point...

Insurance doesn't often help, either, particularly on a collectible item.  You have to jump through a number of hurdles to make a claim, and it's particularly difficult when claiming a lost collectible that's increased in value since its initial release.

It's true that the USPS is cheaper than UPS, but UPS provides guarantees while the USPS doesn't.

"Missent" likely means in this case exactly what it sounds like - someone other than the intended recipient or their authorized agent received the package.

A phone call to the postmaster for that ZIP code would be the first solid course of action in getting this sorted out, I think.

"Missent" means that the first sort facility put the package in the wrong bin based on the zip code.
After that the address is not looked at until it arrives at the local Post Office.
"Arrival at unit" means the local Post Office, not the addressee.
So the local Post Office realized the mistake and probably now is rerouted.
For sure it was not delivered to a wrong person.

Wait what? I didn't do anything nor did I say much. You must have mistaken me with someone else when I changed my name.

You are welcome.
Another thing is that Registered Mail, usually moves slower in the US, because the extra handling they put in.( I talk with a Postmaster, about a year ago, and he said that all Registered Mail is stored in a different area under a lock)
I'm confident that the package will show up next week.

As a side note: If you see that it's no movement on your package by checking your tracking number, you can inquire e-mail updates on the USPS website.Usually that shakes the package off the limbo in the system.
It worked out five out off six times when I was thinking the package was lost(10 days+ on a 2-4 days estimated delivery time).

Sadly, the USPS sometimes is loosing packages...but that is very rare...in three years, sending hundreds of packages a year, I've experienced only 3 missent, 1 damaged and none lost packages.

Hope that helps and everything is going to be fine!

Red paper? Please, even if you don't appreciate or know much about the Chinese culture, at least read the previous posts. We've talked about it in this very thread. It's called "red pockets" (紅包).

No need to be rude or harsh. This had nothing to do with me not appreciating Chinese culture. I didn't open up the plastic because I wanted to know what it was before doing so. I greatly appreciate the fact that digipunk added that. I was just wondering what it was.
And exactly what is red pockets?

I wasn't intended to sound rude or harsh. If you felt that way, I'm sorry.
Without asking again, please read the previous posts. It's been explained.

Hahaha...glad to hear this. And thanks to JimmyJohns, xZEROx, Don, and jmrock.

@Nathan, the red pocket (or red envelope) was discussed in page one here ;) ;)

Though people give red envelopes to their kids and elderly people at Chinese New Year's Eve instead of Jan 1st as xZEROx said. hahaha. Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_New_Year#Red_envelopes
