Alex is from Illinois as far as I know. At least that's what his Facebook says. I do know that Fullboatdealer is going to be selling Seasons decks so there will be a US source for getting them.

The asian market is huge though, that's true. A huge portion of my Kickstarter backers are from that region of the world. I wouldn't be surprised if more than half my total are from outside the US.

I found that site a couple months ago  :P but I didn't want to share it because I figured that if it was supposed to be found, Alex would have shared it.

Okay that's good to know! Thanks Xmetal! I was worried that the shipping prices would be insane  ??? Even with the coupon code haha. It's good to know that there will be a U.S. retailer for these. I'm loving the decks and I would hate to have to pass on them because of shipping

  • Pick a card, any card...no, not THAT card!

  • Facebook:
Maybe he could do a 50-50? Keep half of the stock with some retailer here. It'll certainly attract, or not turn down, some US/Canada buyers.

On a side note, I've noticed it many times. Many, including yourself Don, should be aware that it's USPCC, not USPC.

Actually, the company uses USPC a lot more often than USPCC.  Here are some quotes from the company's history on bicyclecards.com:

"Also during the war, USPC provided "spotter" cards, which illustrated the characteristic shapes of tanks, ships and aircraft from the more powerful countries."

"USPC shipped thousands of the requested decks gratis to our troops in Vietnam."

"In 1987,
USPC acquired Arrco Playing Card Company, the third largest playing card manufacturer in the country. International Playing Card Company, a Canadian subsidiary of USPC since 1914, maintained its own manufacturing operation from 1928 to 1991."

There are several more examples on that page of the US Playing Card Company referring to itself as USPC.

I suspect that it's part of the corporate culture brought to the company by the present owner, Jarden.  Here's the "signature" of the Director of Sales from an email exchange we had last year:

Bill Schildman
Director, Sales
Jarden Leisure & Entertainment Group
US Playing Card Division
300 Gap Way
Erlanger, KY 41018

Jarden, at least internally, refers to the company as the "US Playing Card Division" rather than as a separate company, so the corporate use of their abbreviation probably leaves out the second C for the same reason.  They probably leave it on the boxes for much the same reason they leave "NY Consolidated" or "A. Dougherty" on their respective Aces - tradition.

So, back to the topic - I'm glad to hear that Alex Chin is US-based.  This increases the chances that US buyers will be paying only domestic shipping rates, unlike the other decks we all know about.  I'll be ordering from the source rather than Fullboatdealer, since the coupon code for the source site looks sweeter than any discount Fullboat will offer.

I stand corrected. I always thought it be USPCC for its full name. Apologies.

How long have you been a collector? Have you ever read the side of a box?
People say nothing's impossible, but I do nothing everyday.

Today I found something that reminded me of you. But don't worry I flushed and everything went back to normal.

It was a question, I was wondering how you didn`t know that? The side of almost every USPCC deck says "The United States Playing Card Co." So I was wondering how you never seen that. :)

That's exactly what I don't understand.

The reason why I thought the abbreviation is USPCC is exactly for the United States Playing Card Co.(-mpany) on the side, or bottom of the box.

I'm not sure what you're doubting me here.

I am sorry, I misread the earlier post you made and thought that you thought the name of the United States Playing card Company was just USPCC. That is why I was like wtf how didn`t he know that. Lol sorry :)

I agree.

I am happy that these deck are being sold in the US (although Canada would be even better ;) ) I am hoping to pick up a few of these, maybe 3 sets. :)

Actually it may even be better if it's in the US. You're probably aware of that it costs us more to ship within the country right?

Ya I have noticed that sometimes, Canada post is retarded for prices, it is like $7 for one deck from the US and $10 in Canada. The only advantage in canada is it gets to you faster (most times).

Mmmm not necessarily. Like you said, most times.
I've got a friend who's sending me a package on express, which was guaranteed a 3-days delivery. It's the 5th and I haven't got it yet.

Sounds like the shipping shouldn't be a huge issue with this release  :D

Also it doesn't really matter if it's USPCC or USPC. I always say USPCC, but some use the other abbreviation. In the end we all get the same idea  ::)

Ya it seems like Canada post just goes at whatever pace they want with packages, but we are getting off topic again :-[ best stop before we make people mad ;D

So we're all agreed - whether one writes USPC or USPCC, it's the same company we all know and love/hate, and Canada Post is screwed up when it comes to domestic delivery.

@xZEROx: is that three CALENDAR days, or three BUSINESS days?  It makes a difference.  Isn't Canada Post closed all weekend long every week?  Were there any recent national holidays?

AceKing and Fullboatdealer will both have a chunk of decks, but ONLY DECKS!

CBJ

...as in no uncut sheets, right?  Or are there more products I'm not aware of?

And will they be selling the decks in matched pairs?  I recall Alex Chin stating somewhere that they'll be sold only as matched pairs, like the War Series "Big Gun" reprint was before it went into closeout.

It's all the same in this case. He shipped it out Monday. And I think they open on Saturdays. Nothing national as far as I know. They might have just been lazy. @.@

Vancouver, BC.

I do believe that these would be sold in sets from him directly. Though it's likely you'll be able to get them separately through retailers.
