Playing Card Plethora / Found Original Black Tiger Deck
« on: April 01, 2012, 11:06:03 PM »
I was hoping some of you E Heads might help me sort out if I found a special deck... I was cleaning up and found an original Black Tiger Deck released by Ellusionist... This was the first ever deck released by them and was a big deal at the time... To my knowledge, custom decks were not being produced at all... Please correct me if I am wrong, but I believe this was the originator for the custom playing card market... The deck I'm guessing is approximately 12 years old or more... Is this valuable?  Does anyone have any idea what this deck might be worth and is it a sought after item... Thanks in advance... -J.Rock

EDIT:
I have posted many decks on eBay including the Wounded Warrior and other Modern & Vintage Decks... Please feel free to bid or PM me to work something out...

A Cellar of Fine Vintages / Bicycle Singles
« on: March 23, 2012, 11:53:38 PM »
So after months of talking $#!T about people who collect single swap playing cards, I've come to the conclusion that the only way for me to secure all of the different Bicycle Designs would be to purchase single cards... I was trying to purchase sealed decks whenever possible... However after examining the availability of the decks and finances necessary for such a venture, it appears that the logical choice was to purchase singles...  I hooked up with someone and bought their doubles and I have to tell you it was probably one of the most exhilarating purchases that I've ever made... Should I see a doctor, because looking through this stack, my heart was racing... I still have about 20-30 more, and learned so much... I picked up a Sport Card display and here it is... 20 of my favorite Bicycle Playing cards introduced in the late 1800s to mid 1900s... I hope you enjoy them as much as I do...

It dawned on me that I don't  have any of these Bicycle Split Spades Decks and I would like them... I would like to purchase one of each of the four David Blane Bicycle Decks pictured below... I just want to make sure they are not trick decks...  If anyone has them and wants to sell them please let me know...  Also an English Laundry Deck... Thanks... J.

Playing Card Plethora / Silver Acorns in Black Acorn Boxes with Stickers?
« on: February 22, 2012, 05:16:13 AM »
Does it bother anyone else here that for the extremely limited run of the incredible new Silver Acorn Deck, they didn't even bother to print boxes for them?  Conjuring Arts just said, we're going to throw them in the same box as the black ones and slap a sticker on the box to tell you there's a different deck inside?  Trust us, there's a different deck in there... What's that about?  I held Conjuring Arts up to higher standards... Then again T11 did that with the Gold Monarchs also didn't they?  Card collecting is changing... And I don't know if it's for the better...

Just like the post states... I'm in search on (1) Sealed English Laundry Deck preferably for trade or purchase... I was never really fond of the deck, but recently found out it was made for a clothing company which qualifies it for a spot in my USPCC / Retailer Joint Deck Production Category (Just made that up)... I'd prefer to trade or I can purchase if the number is not outrageous... Please PM me... U.S. preferred... Thanks, J.Rock

I wanted to share with you two very special decks that are sharing the spotlight because of their finishes... The 1955 - 1965 Bee Deck has a Smooth Finish... The 1940 - 1955 Bicycle has a High Finish... Both of these, to my knowledge, are Extremely Rare... I have never seen them before and I'm very excited to add them to my collection... Enjoy...

A Cellar of Fine Vintages / Original Steamboats From The Titanic...
« on: February 10, 2012, 08:25:36 PM »
I thought everyone might be interested in this post... I just learned that there was a deck of original Steamboat Playing Cards by the USPCC discovered amongst the wreckage of the Titanic... It's now on display at the Luxor in Las Vegas... Just fascinating... I found it incredible that the deck is considerably intact for what it had been through...

#CLOSED - Deck is no longer available... Thank you for your interest...

I am selling c. 1875 Andrew Dougherty Triplicates Playing Cards with Parrot Backs... This extraordinarily rare deck is being offered for $200 insured & shipped anywhere in the U.S... Other reasonable offers will be considered...  I was going to post on eBay, but figured I'd let the playing card community have the first opportunity of owning this Historic Deck...

A. Dougherty manufactured some of the earliest examples of double-ended playing cards, replete with rounded corners – an innovation he never failed to advertise. The earliest examples, however, were still published without corner side indices. But it was his rivalry with the New York Consolidated Card Company which would usher in this new innovation so that by the mid 1870’s corner side indices were coming into standard production.

The earliest examples being produced by Dougherty were called “Triplicate Cards” (1875). These were playing cards with “miniatures” in diametrically opposed corners. This allowed players to hold their cards in a tight fan and still be able to identify what they had. At the same time, the New York Consolidated Card Company was manufacturing a similar innovation which they called “Squeezers”. A tacit understanding of the sales territory between the two rivals is commemorated in a card back of 1877, showing two bulldogs (most of you are familiar with this deck) straining at their leashes – one collar says “Squeezer” and the other “Trip” which stood for Triplicates (The type of deck for sale here).

I was looking through eBay and found this single swap vintage card... It is the Dragon Back!!! Did anyone know of this?  All of the Dragon Backs appear to be reprints of an older vintage style deck... http://www.ebay.com/itm/150748428153?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2648#ht_500wt_1413 Using my superior skills I was able to post an actual pic from eBay, rather than a link...

This is a Rare, Vintage, c.1973 Sealed, Brand New Deck of USPC Playboy Bicycle Playing Cards... This is a wonderful and unique deck with Jokers & Aces adorned by Femlin, designed and painted by none other than LeRoy Neiman... The remaining cards are all standard USPCC cards... Another unique aspect of this deck is that USPCC allowed Playboy to use the 808 Rider Back, but replace all the cupids with Playboy Bunnies... I searched for this deck for months before being in the position to score a few, just after scoring one in a trade for a Bicycle Santa Back... It is one of my favorite decks of all time...  Please contact for any additional questions or concerns...

One Red Deck Left... Asking $79 Delivered anywhere in the U.S.

One last thing... Note the Seal is scalloped like a tax stamp, not straight like the current USPC seal... This was used from 1965 - 1976, which makes this the original Playboy Deck, not one printed after 1976...

I am looking for a set of Smoke & Mirrors V.2... Not to long ago I purchased a set of S&M V.1 Collectors Edition w/ Certificate for around $125... Yes, I know I got an absolutely unheard of - fabulous deal... I was very fortunate and I am looking to be around there for the V.2s... Less would even be better, but I am not counting on that... However, I could go a little more as well... I am also open to involving a trade in the transaction, depending on what you're looking for... Please let me know what might work for you... I would like to make a deal sooner than later... Thank you...
