There definitely isn't much effort put into the design, but they still look very nice

This is kinda interesting. It doesn't seem like a design that I would expect Bicycle to go for. I'm not sure why, but it just doesn't seem like something that they would print. But it looks quite nice - really simplistic, with some nice colours to go with it.
Although, as Moon.exe already pointed out, it's a very obvious one way back which I'm sure won't be popular with magicians and the like.

I'm not even into magic, but cards can easily be turned in a deck, and a one-way design really stands out when the backs aren't all in the same orientation, which looks bad in by opinion.
I still really like the design though, I'd just have to be more careful with shuffles, doing something with a single card and putting it back in, etc... And it's still a nice addition to a collection regardless.

I am like OCD when playing with 1-way back decks if one card gets turned i freak out i hate 1 way back decks

If they do nothing else with this deck but make a star back, I'm inclined to pass. Nice look, but this doesn't trump a Seasons or a Mana....

Of course not, but if they're a regular in-store deck, it's easy enough to pick up a few whenever you feel like it, as opposed to the collectable decks for which you have to plan in advance

Yeah, but in-store, rare, common, printed in yak's blood, whatever - it still costs money... I can't buy every deck until I get David-Copperfield famous. Until then, I have to choose my battles and select my targets with more care!

Yeah I'm a fan of the red deck, but not really the black deck so much. They have an Americana deck feel. Kind of western style, but of course the Americana deck had much more time and effort put into it. I might have to pick up 2 of the reds

Well Altair, can you be more specific when saying which deck you like, considering both decks are red. Are you referring to the White/Red deck?

Judging from the picture, it looks like we're getting closer to the release date.
I'm actually sort of warming to the idea of this deck. Obviously, the one way back is a big downfall, but as a collection piece, I think the star on the front gives it a certain eye-catching charm. I hope to pick up one of each colour. Nice enough to add to my collection, but not nice enough to bother getting multiples.

Yeah I also am warming up to this deck. I really like the box. I think that the thick black lines on the Bicycle logo making it look very bold and gives it a good pop. It has a very simple and classic feel to it. I am still getting use to the cards, but as Lushbob said I'll probably get some for the collection.

I have a soft spot for these cards. It's funny because the white versions are the EXACT PICTURE used at fairs and carnivals in the shooting booths. If anyone has ever seen those booths where they tie that piece of paper on a string and you use a BB gun to shoot out the entire star, this is the same picture at every fair. Obviously the star is much smaller at the fair, but the graphics are exactly the same. I'd never buy the deck, but it did give me a genuine smile towards some nostalgia for the day.

I`m not a huge fan of these. They look like someone made them in 5 minutes on Word. add a 1-way back to that and it just doesnt work for me.

I read on the Chinese Bicycle site listed with the newer photos that this design dates to 1893 and is called "Margin Star No. 1". Far from something whipped up on Word, unless the designer could time-travel...

Could this have been ordered specifically for the Chinese market? I can see why a plain red star back would have great appeal there.
