These I could see being picked up by major retail outlets.  I could see these being sold by the thousands through wal-mart or target stores.  Not to offend anyone, that was just the first thought that popped in my head...

This reminds me of an old coke advertising deck from the 50's.
Just to clarify... I meant my previous comment in a positive way. I love the retro look.  Not so much the music of that generation. Sorry Fes...  ;D

I didn't think you meant it negatively at all haha. I was agreeing. This makes me think "Woops, my post is not coming off as intended." Good things, all good things. Hope Don doesn't think I was directing anything at him, it was a general comment about how I choose to see things now.

I felt pretty crappy after calling one deck "Steamjunk" and dismissing several other decks entirely without giving them a fair shake just because of the style they were done in. Like I was snubbing my nose at them and I don't think it was right of me to do. The glass is half empty mentality I had wasn't making for a good experience and I was turning a little grumpalicious because of it. So, I decided to change it and was just sharing some of my outlook now. I probably failed at doing that. I apologize in advance to Don.
You didn't sound negative. I was worried that I did and I don't want to sound negative unless I mean to sound negative. Sometimes being negative can be a positive if done in the right way. About this I am pretty much positive. I think.   ???

I know I'm being somewhat secretive but I feel we have a winning product. This deck in a way will be our trial by fire. The stock is 310 linen from Germany and the finish is our own specifications... We call it Royal finish. We tried various varnishes... Amounts and drying times (temps) until we had something that felt right to us. Keep in mind, I'm not a magician or card juggler... So what's good to me and what's good to you might be different. I feel confident that we have a product that will come close to the quality of USPCC, EPCC and LPCC.  Will we surpass their quality? No.. Not yet. But we will be close. Rome wasn't built in a day. We establishing a cheaper place to get decks with all the bells and whistles done... Embossing, gold foil, inside tuck printing, etc. A place where artistic imagination isn't limited to dollar signs.
Thank you for sharing more about it... I like how you're thinking and I look forward to checking them out for myself.  :D

An excerpt from your Kickstarter....

"Up until this point we have produced all our decks with the United States Playing Card Company. We feel that USPCC has set the standard with playing card printing. But with high standards come high prices which in turn create high (and sometimes) unrealistic funding goals here on Kickstarter. My wife and I have seen countless numbers of good decks fail to reach their funding goals because of these high prices. Civil Unrest Gettysburg will be our first step towards producing our own brand. We're working closely with a production facility to produce a great quality product that will simulate the finishes and feel that comes with USPCC playing cards.

It is our desire to create a competitive yet comparable product to help not only ourselves, but other artists in creating more attainable funding goals.

As of right now, we plan on printing both decks... BUT if we hit the stretch goal of $22,000, we'll print the Union deck with USPCC and the Confedrate deck with us (the Tomlinson Playing Card Company)."

Can you elaborate about this?  Like what kind of card stock, finish, printer or whatever you feel like sharing.  Maybe how exactly it compares to USPCC.  Not a deal breaker for me... Just curious as I'm sure others will be..

Everything said is spot on in my opinion, not to mention... well this is a pretty ugly deck. If it funds, I think it will be funded by fans of his videos. I don't see a whole lot of anything in this deck that says fund me. No passion, no character. The color scheme is in it's favor, if you like yellow black, other than that this is poorly designed.
I personally like to see yellow incorporated into a deck and am always looking to add some color to my collection but this just doesn't quite pull it off aesthetically.

I like the faces real well and I am sure the backs do make for some great fans but I'm with Don, these cards would surely give you a headache after looking at them for any amount of time.  ???

If these were printed on cannabis leaves they could sell a metric shitload of them.  At least in Colorado and Washington.  :P

I was going to say that I already have a couple decks of these but apparantely this KS is for an updated version.  :karrit:

I like the fronts and faces of these cards. The only thing I really do not like about these is the card back.  Looks like tacky butterflies.  The background design on the tuck would have made for a better back design.

@Don - You probably saw it when you were lurking over at the UnitedCardists Here :) It's interesting to watch him take suggestions and evolve his deck into something pretty good.  :bosswalk: Have to admit his video is exceptional.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E6pBvAl2x90
The topic was here. I remember seeing it also and I dont visit UC...

Those two decks aren't quite gelling for me as a theme.  More like two separate themes, despite some similarity/overlap.  I'll wait until I see the cards.
I can see the theme. Good inventions vs. bad inventions.  I can see the AOS on the Devastation deck being the A Bomb.  The AOS on innovations maybe fire or electricity??

39
Well that looks very promising!  ;D

Just throwing this out there...
The joker icon should be larger.   I do not know how it looks on a bigger screen but on a tablet and a phone it would be unrecognizable if I did not already know what I was looking at.  It's a really nice brand image and should be a focal point for the forum and club alike.  Not trying to step on anyones toes, just making an observation.

I have a couple terrible decks, one of the worst known to man. A Bridge sized "Pin ups" deck. (Spicy Playing cards By House of Marbles, I received them from someone who I thought liked me. Here's a link to the Deck) It's actually beyond terrible. I'm happy to swap the two I have for an iPhone haha. Offers better be quick though, in about thirty hours I'm gifting them to some frenemies at tomorrow nights game. They'll be happy until they open the unsealed tucks, then they'll be upset the tucks weren't full of coal haha.

That decks not that bad... I've seen way worse.  Hell, some I own are worse.  Sometimes it's the cheap or ugly decks that have the most interesting stories to tell.

Here's a picture of said !%$^ing insane lot that sold.

Link while it stays up is here.

It's not insane though. To some, $400.00 is like $20.
Thats insane no matter how you slice it...  After all it is just a deck of cards... A new deck of cards at that. Only collectable by the assumption that it will someday be collectable.  Creating a market by limiting the market.  Its just a money grab.
Would I like to have a deck? Sure... But I wont pay the price of a television for a deck of cards.  There are so many decks that are just as nice or nicer for reasonable prices.  I will never understand why someone would pay these prices no matter how much money you have to burn.   ???

HollyJJ- here is the video for your viewing pleasure.

That site lists him as being in Orlando, Florida.  Imagine if he were to opt to join 52+J and go to the convention in October...!
You could invite him to be the guest speaker and talk about his movie.... ::)

I would sooner have a picnic at Cape Canaveral under a rocket engine on launch day...
Better bring marshmallows.... ;D

You are well informed. I will second your nomination for the Good/Evil deck set.

Nice list Nate, but I thought the Good/Evil decks were funded?
