Playing Card Plethora / Re: Atlantis playing cards?
« on: October 18, 2013, 08:12:36 PM »
Thanks for the warning. Fortunately, didn't buy yet. I too have handled a couple cartamundi decks only to want to burn them. Granted, all I have held are the rite-aid brand cards (aka the reason I prefer to go to Walgreen's whenever possible). His prices on anglos and archdukes look good though. That is, assuming he isn't a douchebag about his sales techniques... If he tries that on me, he's going to regret it.

Ah, my bad. Atlantis. And it's being sold on dealing devils dealing deuces as are the archdukes and anglos.
Also picking up some V1 Arrco Tahoes from them. Expensive, but what the hell. I just got a killer new job and this can be a reward to myself.

Playing Card Plethora / Atlantis playing cards?
« on: October 17, 2013, 04:00:46 PM »
I recently found a deck known as the Atlantic playing cards. They appear to be a vintage deck and for what the seller wants, they had better handle pretty well. Don, now would be an excellent time to prove to us all why you're the supreme authority on cards...
(as an unrelated side-note, I'm also looking into some archduke eagle backs and some Offason Anglos. Anyone have any experience in this regard? I'm looking for handling features here).

Well, I finally have a working computer again, having had to fix the one I'm  currently on  :mindf-ck:. But this should be the last of my prolonged absences from the forum. If I'm gone for another extended period, hopefully you know why... :-[

The Conversation Parlor / Used Magic to ask a girl out today...
« on: September 25, 2013, 12:28:10 AM »
So it's homecoming week at my highschool and I HATE homecoming/prom. There is a girl who hates school dances as much as I do, and since we were going to have an anti-homecoming last year that fell through at the last second, I still make fun of her for being a flake as a result. Anyway, today I was playing with my new carbon copies in AP Music Theory since Isaac had just barely brought them to me. She took interest and asked to see the deck. After I gave her a brief explanation of Dan and Dave and the world of cards, she asked if I knew any good tricks. So I used some basic distractions and false cuts for a typical "is this your card?" trick and pulled it off nicely. Later that day during lunch I bought two decks of blue bicycles. I took the ace of hearts out of one of the decks and wrote "Anti-Homecoming...Again?" on it before placing it on the top of the other deck's ace of hearts. I managed to catch her right before she left school and told her I had just learned a new card trick and needed her opinion. So I pulled a basic card force which made her choose the blank ace of hearts out of the deck and when she had memorized it, I had her place it right on top of the other (marked) ace of hearts, which was on top of the deck. I farro'd the cards into a pretty decent looking grate fan as a distraction and then once I had riffled that back into a deck (which most people confuse for shuffling) I brought it into a butterfly cut and when that was over I used a double-lift off the top of the deck so that the ace of hearts with the message on it was revealed out of the deck and asked "Is this your card?" to which i received the reply "Yes". Just a little tale to keep in mind should other magicians and cardists on this forum look to get creative.

I don't know, I kind of like the design, but i don't love it. It also seems to carry the stench of a failed project. I'm very skeptical of the way he's set up his kickstarter based on his rewards options, his ridiculous choice to advertise an $8,000 funding goal and I'm sorry, but the white edition of that deck $20. Not by a long shot.  Also, not entirely sure how much I like that back just yet. Its just as pleasing as it is off-putting.

Welp, that's two forum posting fuck ups in one day. Guess that's what happens when your computer breaks and you are offline for a good two weeks.

Deck Reviews! / Battle: Seasons by Alex Chin VS. Mana by Eric Mana
« on: September 19, 2013, 06:48:51 PM »
Just bought the two deck set of the platinum edition seasons, very happy with my purchase, phenomenal decks. I also Just ordered a Mana deck V1 Oracle Edition. Pretty happy just for the collector's value, but have yet to receive it in the mail. Should take some time, so that leaves just enough space to see these cards of very similar origins and marketing duke it out! Cast your votes now!

And I really hope CX decides to do something awesome with the court cards, like how they omitted the mouths on the Babel deck.

Wish your parents had done the same thing with you some days... ;D

Let it be known that I was the one who was going to make this thread, but last night while at Isaac's house he decided to steal this thread for himself RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY EYES!!! If it weren't for me, he wouldn't even know about this deck in the first place!!! >:( Isaac your a douche-canoe and a half. Payback is going to suck "bro".

Guys, I think we're all forgetting the true bane of shipping.

The heavy package/express mail customs form.
Yeah, Ew.

That's really tough. Progressive rock is my favorite genre so I could be up shit creek on this one.
