Title: Hi I have a question
Post by: heptacle on December 19, 2017, 10:55:42 PM
Hi
Well... you can call me heptacle.
I'm from South Korea but I'm currently in Alaska, US.
I think I'm neither cardist (I'm not sure about what's this) nor magician nor collector.
I'm not sure where to start... I like playing card games... And I learned many of them through Internet or an old book. I learned many games, like Scopone, Durak, Canasta, Piquet, Mighty, Bridge, All fours, Skat, Bezique, Pinochle, Hearts, 99, Literature, Spielen, and so on. I'm also interested in devising card game. But I have no friend who are interested in these things. So I began to find online community, and that's how I found here(I just googled) but up to this point communities I found about playing cards(including here) seems not to be focused on actually playing them. Can someone recommend where I can find people sharing my interest?

There are a few communities online that are dedicated to gaming in general.  Many such sites include sections for card games, both with standard and non-standard decks.

Best of luck to you!

Try https://boardgamegeek.com/guild/1259 (https://boardgamegeek.com/guild/1259). Posts are infrequent but all card games can be discussed. I'm interested in lots of card games as well.

Almost forgot to mention - you were unsure about what a cardist is.

Cardistry is the art of flourishing and card manipulation.  Have you ever watched an old-school magician or even a young kid performing and they did some really wild-looking cuts and spreads and fans and such between tricks?  Cardistry separates all those flourishes and makes them into an art form independent of magic.  Cardists are people who perform cardistry.
