I got a brick off AceKing because they're borderless and dirt cheap.  Actually playing around with them, I was impressed, initially.  They actually fanned pretty well and were good for anything I wanted to do.
Then I tried another one (Golden Nugget deck with a gold back; actually quite pretty).  Amazing; it felt great, perfect fan, perfect faro, instantly one of my favourite decks.
Then I busted out a third; a turquoise Iron Horse deck... horrible, clumpy sticky and felt like cheap cardboard in general.  The 4th was in between; not too bad but not good either.  What is going on with these decks?  How can some be so good and some so bad?
They look identical apart from the casino branding, they've obviously been printed at the same factory.  What gives?  Anyone else tried these cards?
Don't get me wrong, I'd happily drop another $20 or whatever for another brick if 1/4 of them are as good as that nugget deck but I don't get how the quality is so massively variable.

I picked up a half-gross each of three colors of Gemaco decks from a defunct casino - uncanceled decks.  I think the issue you're having with the differences in decks is probably due to quality choices made by the casino owners when they placed the order.  Some probably opted for better finishes, better stock, whatever else, and thus some are great while some, not so much.

BTW: I'd sell you a brick (or a few bricks) for $20 each if you're interested.  I got them pretty cheap.  Would have to work out shipping unless you live in the NYC metro area.

I live in the UK, so shipping would probably be expensive.  I'm not really looking to buy right now but I'll bear that in mind.  Thanks.

Maybe next time you're in town, if I still have any left.  I've been giving them out to patients at the pediatric unit where I volunteer and perform magic for the kids.  Great fun - you should try it.  Good forum for practicing and the audience is (usually) pretty forgiving.
