I've pondered this and can't decide. On the one hand, it would be great to try to make a deck that fits into the Bicycle history and it would make the deck appeal greatly to certain folks. On the other, Aurum will be totally custom and not bear any resemblance to standard Bicycle design. It also costs more to make a Bike deck and there are more legal hoops to jump through.

I'm quite torn, both routes have advantages. Therefore, I seek opinions.  :D

I would have to see the deck to know for sure, but personaly I like when custom decks are not Bicycle branded. Although some people like them to be.
People say nothing's impossible, but I do nothing everyday.

Today I found something that reminded me of you. But don't worry I flushed and everything went back to normal.

I think it would be a good idea. I think such an awesome deck deserves to be branded by the greatest.

As much as I like Bicycle, I like decks that are printed by the USPCC but not bicycle branded. It makes them even more unique.

As for me, As much as I LOVE the Bikes or bicycle branded decks, I think its nicer and better if the Aurum was not a Bicycle brand. Why be a small part of a history if you can start your own history right? Thats just me of course.

Considering the Tendrill deck was not a Bicycle branded deck, at least try it out. See how it goes with the Aurum and then makes future decks using your past experience. There's nothing wrong with trying something like that out. Is there?

Hey Paul,

I think if your court cards are very different than the usual Bicycle courts then go without the Bicycle brand.
Whatever you do don't show the box with the Bicycle logo and then take it off later! I'm still catching grief from
that!!! I don't regret losing the Bicycle branding at all though.

The Aurum images you've shown so far look sweet!

thanks, Randy

I don't think you should because Bicycle doesn't have to do anything with all of the work that you did to make this deck and its just a name what difference does it make i will still buy the deck with or without the brand .

Well... I say Bicycle.  But of course.. I collect mostly Bicycle Branded decks.

But in all seriousness, I think both routes are viable for you.  You've proven yourself with your first deck, people WILL purchase your second deck.

I do see where you're coming from though... having a deck in the Bicycle lineage would be very cool.

Tough call

NO NO NO NO!! PLEASE NO! I hate to be dramatic but no. when I think of bicycle I think of rider backs in 5 million colors all exactly the same. They have over saturated the market with decks that they know will sell only because most card collectors have Ocd and need to have this months fusia gargoyle blood limited prestige deck. When I think of bicycle I think of silliness. now bicycle does have some amazing cards and they are historic but I hate what the brand has become. Establish yourself as encarded and don't make an amazing deck that is going to be lost in the sea of mediocrity that is bicycle.

Haha this is just my opinion (a very opinionated opinion I know) but I figure that there's enough fans of bicycle to warrant at least one disgruntled card collector ;) but in all honesty which ever route you choose to go I will be picking one up because I know it will be great :)

What he said. Encarded as Encarded will be awesome.
And he's right soon enough Bicycle is going to run out of  Shades, Tints, and Tones of the 12 Hues available in the color wheel. I'm not saying its bad, but Encarded has been a success thus far. You guys put out a GREAT first deck. And that really makes an impression. I for one will really get more cards from Encarded in the future because  like what Darryl said, I know it will be great.

Very interesting feedback everyone, thanks very much for your opinions! I honestly thought that the "make it Bicycle" option would be the dominant one, but that is not the case. I originally envisioned Aurum being non-Bicycle, to focus on my own thing more and I guess that is the way it will stay. Someday I do want to do a Bicycle deck but I guess that will have to wait a while.

don't see the merit in making a deck you like and then sticking a Bicycle logo on it; it has nothing to do with the project.  If you're goig to make a Bike deck, make a Bike deck, don't just throw the logo on this deck.

Non-Bicycle brand in my opinion, you should take all the kind words for your design work.
Mystery is the basic appeal of magic. Once the secrets are known, the magician becomes a mere manipulator, an actor in a suspense drama which has little impact because the audience knows the ending in advance.
