Hey guys,
I'm a student, 14 and I'm new to collecting decks.
I've been collecting decks for about two months now.
I don't really have a huge collection of decks but I look forward to collecting more decks.
Although there are a number of nice decks coming out soon, I'm also interested in getting
those older but rarer decks too.

Once i started collecting decks, it has become quite addictive as i can never
stop collecting them.
Decks are not items that u can buy just once and stop as people will constantly create better and more interesting designs of decks that will interest you.
Collecting decks has really gotten into me as i would save all my lunch money to buy them.

So yea..that's me. :D
I hope to get to know you guys better soon :D

-V

Welcome aboard, Vendetta.  Card collecting is a fun hobby, but I do suggest you budget carefully, especially if you're going after the older decks.  New and current-issue will be a little easier on the bank account.  You want to save SOMETHING for going on dates with, right?  :))

Are you just collecting, or are you into something with cards: magic, poker, cardistry, etc.?

Welcome!
This hobby is an expensive one. I'd suggest you don't get pulled too deep down, since you're still asking for money from your parents. Take each step slowly.

Anyhow, enjoy your stay here!

First thing's first, welcome to the forums. :)

It's always good to see fresh faces in the card hobbies. Here are some great tips for building your collection and not going bankrupt (or making your parents bankrupt in your case):

- Figure out which decks you want to collect. Casino decks? Bicycle decks? Bee decks? A subset of those?

- Buy when you see a bargain. Our members are VERY helpful and will gladly tell you what decks are worth (min and max values) if you ask.

- Check out our Sales, Trades & ISOs board. Hundreds of deals have worked out wonderfully there and you almost always get a value on what you buy.

- Keep this in mind: If you buy a brick at $5 per deck, and you can sell 10 of them for $6 per deck, you just got two decks of cards for free.

- Always include shipping costs in your per-deck calculations. A brick of Rider Backs for $5 may seem awesome, but $20 shipping suddenly makes it a giant rip off.

To add on to what Alex said, when you are planning on buying a brick of cards to resell 10, make sure your prices aren't too high compared to other sellers, and also take this into account: sometimes once you count shipping for the decks to come to you and then for the decks to go to your buyer, it may not be worth it anymore. Good luck with your collecting!

Welcome to the discourse .. the method that alex taught is what i always do .. i bought a brick and i sell them to my friend about $3 dollar more including shipping somtimes it different since i have to compete with my local magic shop price but using that method mostly of the time i can get 3-4 decks free :D

The biggest occupation I engage in with my card happens to be Canfield solitaire...  :))

Hey V, nice to have you here! I started collecting at 14 also and since that moment two years ago, it seems like all of my money has been going towards cards and such.

You say you are new at collecting? What is your favorite deck, and what deck are you looking foward to the most?

Thanks for joining! I hope to see a lot more of you over here.  :)
