The Virts is making a deck and they are saying that it is designed specifically for flourishing.

Sounds pretty interesting. I'm just curious as to how a deck can be made for flourisher's, as in stock, finish, and design  :o
If I were an eskimo, I would build my igloo next to a supermarket.

All I can say is, Its about time. A Singaporean deck that would not cost a bomb for Singaporeans :) Maybe the Virts will even drop by here at some point.

Think handling, and a nice design is a bonus.
It will most likely be engineered to handle well and be balanced in a flourisher's hand.
Unlike collectors, we don't focus too much on how much kit a deck has.

I find it slightly amusing when collectors say that a particular deck handles well when it actually doesn't...

A stock that's supple but also can resist crimping.

A finish that's slicker than wet glass.

A design that does one of two things, depending on the flourisher's style.
1) A simple, streamlined design that allows your artistry to be center-stage.
2) A design with excellent patterns and colors, particularly at the corners, and either a thin border or no border at all.  It's also possible that a one-way design would make the deck more flexible for flourishing, allowing more unique flashes of color and design than a two-way back could deliver.

All I can say is, Its about time. A Singaporean deck that would not cost a bomb for Singaporeans :) Maybe the Virts will even drop by here at some point.

What, the Mana deck wasn't enough for you?  :))

You know who's making the deck, as in, it is USPC or not?

That is funny, considering that there's a decent-size contingent that never open the cellophane...  "Oh, it handles great!  It makes crinkly noises when I pass it from hand to hand, see?  And the foil is very shiny...  The embossing helps you really get a grip on it, too!"

It was printed by USPC, but I think Erik Mana is based -- AH, I remember now - he's from the Philippines.  I did have it wrong!

Yep. Its easy to get South East Asian countries mixed up. The only decks associated with Singapore so far are the white blue tunes, made here, and the Visions, designed here.

Probably a borderless deck, with big bold colors going off the edges, to make fans look dramatic. I'm curious if they are making the faces something new, like not even bothering to do pips but instead making it purely look good while flourishing.

No offence to you, Paul, but I find what you said hilarious.
A fan is so basic, a deck is not going to be designed just to look great in fans. Cardists like HANDLING. Design is a definite plus but is not an absolute necessity. The actual movements will catch people's attention more than the cards will.

EDIT: I'd like to mention that pretty much any deck that comes out of USPC's factory with good enough quality control handles very well. There isn't as much to be tweaked with today's options as far as handling is concerned as there used to be. Premium stocks? All discontinued/new standards as far as I know. Magic finish? It's slowly becoming the new standard finish, it's safe to assume that absolutely no handling-oriented deck would skip on it.

Ok you got me with the fanning decks BUT a deck that is specifically designed for flourishing will not just have fans in mind.

Which Paul never implied in the first place. It's just that the handling side of it just can't really go wrong to begin with.

He may have been assuming that it would use looks in order to display fans. Anyhow, Handling can go wrong, the infinity for example was a horrid deck in terms of handling and that, HAD magic finish,

Anyone have anything new on this deck?  I was under the impression that it was supposed to have been released already.

I have to agree.  Modern aesthetic, but still traditional in design.  Nice.

Reminds me a lot of the queen of diamonds from the Players deck...

I like it a lot though! Very simple, and nice looking.

I'm really liking the look of this deck! - Not only are the court cards borderless, something we all love, but they are very simplistic, something from D&D's decks that we've loved also! Is it me, or does the red pop more than standard Bicycle colors?
