Congrats on keeping on. I would say that your new design is nothing like the original so if I was to bet, you're likely to face a similar battle but in the opposite direction. Ie some may think it too minimal.

To answer your question though, I think I like the purple version the best of these with green a close second.

I'd think folks would expect the pip and court cards to also have a similar minimalist feel to them.

Have you tried working on pulling back a bit on the original so it still has a similar feel but with a little less going on?

The queen and ace's take up more of the space from the black and I think are very nice. To me, the pip cards are busy with the individual picture frames for each. Perhaps you could batch the pips in a frame within the border frame so the black background is still there but a bit more white space in the middle?

Thanks so much Don! I did try and mimic letter frequency to the vernacular with more common letters appearing more frequently. We do have 4 A's, E's but only 1 Z and Q, etc. I'll need to double check to make sure they are still on par with a 2019/20 vocabulary for future prints.

I had no idea about the list of words IP Hasbro is trying to secure! That sure seems like a stretch but I'd imagine they have a few lawyers who are flexible enough to try and make that claim.

I opted to place the harder to use letters on the higher index card's as a secondary scoring mechanism if needed. The A's, E's and etc are on the 2's and 3's while the Z, K and B are on the face card and aces. Individual scores on the letters really cluttered the layout and as you said, seemed risky considering IP concerns. I've never used another brand name to market the Flex Deck and will not in the future so I hope we can all play nice in this sandbox.

Do you know of any card games focused on letters that are in the common domain?

I'd love to find the forum you're describing if it exists. The best I could find are facebook groups related to individual card game games like bridge and ptich and groups for designers who mainly are not making variations of traditional deck indices. A sub-group of that are designers who get the word out about their games via 'print and play' groups where the card game makers provide players with a pdf that can be printed and played at home for free.

Very nice set but probably not in the original case (yours looks like a nice old one, possibly period to the cards).

If memory serves me, USPC made two small domino sets; the first, the size of regular dominos, the second slightly larger. Both types came in a burgundy colored slipcase and both had red and white speckled backs. However your cards could possibly have been packaged in a tuckcase. 

I do not recall seeing many of these over the years, we did own one set once but not in its original box.

I bought these domino cards by USPCC from 1906 a couple of years ago along with the two other tiny domino cards (only a few of each) but am unsure where the other's are from. Does anyone have any ideas?
