I got an email confirmation almost right as they announced they were postponing the release again. We'll see what happens....

You are entitled to your opinion, however I must say that you're the first person I've seen that's had a problem with the FPS nature or the immersion factor for Amnesia.

So I know several of you play videogames out there, and I would just like to raise awareness for The Humble Indie Bundle. In this bundle, you get 5 incredible games: Amnesia: The Dark Descent, Limbo, Bastion, Psychonauts, and Sword & Sworcery. You pay whatever you want (however, you can only get Bastion if you pay above the average), and are DRM-free. You can also choose to split the money however you want between the developers, charity, and the website itself. The sale lasts for about 13 more days.

I already have Bastion and Limbo on the Xbox 360 however I have no regrets from buying them again because they are that good.

The Conversation Parlor / Re: Technology and Magic
« on: May 27, 2012, 04:06:42 PM »
I am very much into magic. I must admit I did not watch the posted video yet, I am at work and I do not want to catch the IT dpt. attention with youtube, bad enough I am doing this. Anyway, I appreciate all forms of magic but I sometimes wonder about high tech magic. What kind of effect will it have. Something about high tech magic seems to make it less magical. I think sleight of hand and good patter are the way to go. I know they make invisible decks for the iphone, I have not seen it yet but I can see it being cool. Anyway, high tech can be good eye candy when it comes to magic. I am sure some people could make it work very well. I just know for my style I could not pull it off. I will check out this video when I get home.
Reminds me of the Arthur C Clarke quote: "Any sufficiently andvanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."

When dealing deuces did the presales for the Tahoes they sold 3 versions, the standard set for 14.95, then a gold foiled version which is selling now for 69.99, and then there was the silver foiled ones that sold onD&D, which almost sold out at the Presale at dealing deuces and sold out quickly after which sold for 24.99, exactly the same price Dan and Dave are charging, so there is actually no upcharge at all and this is a second chance to get them at the original price.
Umm, I preordered the $14.95 set and got the silver foiled set. I don't recall there ever being a $24.99 set on Dealing Deuces.

EDIT: Unless they (Dealing Deuces) raised the price to $24.99 after the preorder.

It doesn't cost extra, I have no idea where in the world Nathan heard that. You can embed youtube videos in product descriptions using html code.

Got my 1 deck today, my first gilded edge deck that I've actually handled. The silver looks great but they don't handle well at all, but with gilded deck it's to be expected. There were specks of silver on my hands after trying to get the cards unstuck from each other and playing around with them for a few minutes, so I didn't want to push it too far and risk chipping the edges. Anyone dare to try a faro with theirs?

Diablo 3 was pulled out from shops across the Philippins on the account of the Bishop saying it was TOO demonic....
Its so stupid! STUPID STUPID! You are the protagonist trying to vanquish the EVIL! Ugh!!!
They support the SIMS where you can fuck up a life like a god on crack but you can't play a game where you vanquish evil?

STUPID HO'S!

Playing Card Plethora / Re: LTD sale at Ellusionist??
« on: May 09, 2012, 12:14:52 AM »
I don't get your point. Sure, you can get some money back for the DVD you are buying but there is less demand, you sell for a much lower price than the normal market price, the money you make reselling the DVDs, if you have any buyers at all, are much smaller than the price you spent on them in the first place, and you are spending 50+$ for 1 deck that is worth 70$ and cost 2$ to make and whose market price is diving.
The point I'm trying to make is that they can be sold in the first place. The other point is that the amount of money a dvd or deck is worth is completely arbitrary as long as I can sell them.

Last I checked IAOCP was still available on D&D's website.

Also, demand isn't as important in this scenario because we're not looking to immediately make a profit, just recoup. This means that even if I sold the DVDs for $5 each, I'd still be getting some money back. If I have a brand new DVD for that low, then there's a better chance of selling it than if it were $24.95. The point is that there is more freedom than just buying only a deck.

You can but what's the point for the buyer? What would he get from buying from you? The same price, no extra gifts, a higher shipping price, and no proof that the DVD is in perfect condition. You see resellers for playing cards much more often than brand new DVD resellers.

I'm not assuming that you can sell DVDs for the same price that E would. What I'm trying to say is that it's more economical to buy the two DVDs, get the LTD, and then try to recoup some of the losses by reselling the DVDs. This is assuming you only want the LTD to begin with. Same thing happened with the IAOCP book/deck.

I don't think this is worth it for me personally. You have to pay 50$ of DVDs that you won't be able to resell just to get 1 LTD worth 70$. + This huge sale will drive the LTD price down and will increase the availability enormously on the aftermarket.

Who says you can't resell DVDs?

I have always wonder why does hulk's pants not rip apart but his shirt does when he morphs.
I don't remember where I read it, but it went something like: "What's the most indestructible object in The Avengers? It's not Thor's hammer, or Captain America's shield, it's the Hulk's pants."

I saw it opening night and the movie was amazing. Hulk stole the show, especially his moments with Thor and Loki in particular. I'm also glad the US release got an extra post credits scene, it wasn't necessary but it was a really funny way to wrap up the movie. It also teaches a valuable lesson: never leave a Marvel film until after the credits are done.

The only meh part in the movie was the 3D. Since it was done in post production it wasn't as good as it could have been. When I see it again in theaters it'll be in 2D.

I don't think Dan and Dave are selling these with the intentions of people going to use them for self defense. Most likely a tool.

This is a terrible knife for self defense. "You want my wallet? Hold on while I unfold this inconspicuous piece of plastic."

"Starting with our double DVD release this Tuesday at 1PM PST / 4PM EST, we will leave the very last of the LTD decks up for grabs. 72 hours. Less than 1,000 decks. Purchase any two DVDs over $24,95 each, and get an LTD deck. Get prepared, offer ends when either the decks are gone or the time is up.

Tuesday 1PM PST / 4PM EST. 72 hours. LTD." - Ellusionist

That pisses me off because one of the reasons I even got an LTD deck was because they said it would only be available during that holiday time!

That pisses me off because I can't replenish my supply of Emerald Artifices and have it count toward an LTD.

I'm surprised it took that long to look up Seronda. When I googled "Seronda translation" it gave me the result immediately.

Anyway, I'd prefer Klingon for the language of the next set.

A company changing it's mind? Unthinkable!

Evan, I always enjoy your reviews but one thing that's become very apparent after watching this one is that you say the word "nice" a lot. It's hard to gauge exactly how you feel about a deck because I think "nice" is a boring word, but that's my opinion.

Just a small critique, and I only mean it in a respectful manner because I really want you to keep making videos. :)

I'm in complete agreement about the pip design. Having a white outline around the pips doesn't make reading any easier at all. It's basically trying to solve a problem I feel like isn't that big of a problem to begin with.
