1 cent tax stamp bee

I think you meant "1 Pack" rather than "1 Cent"...  :))

Nice little collection.

My bad. Thanks. My new year's resolution is to really beef up this part of my collection. It will be much easier with all the knowledge gained from this new board.

Here is my modest vintage collection. Just bits and pieces I have grabbed over the last little while, and hope to greatly expand upon in 2014.

The Conversation Parlor / Re: How Do You/Will You Spend Your Holidays?
« on: December 26, 2013, 01:26:28 PM »
We had a nice family Christmas morning, followed by a larger family dinner last night. Now we are heading up to the ski resort near our town for the next couple of weeks. I am going to be pitching in to work up at the resort during the busy period of the 27th-31st, so it's not so much a holiday but the extra money is welcomed, especially after Christmas.

I agree it's silly for people to be offended by other religions wishing people well on their holidays. I am not really a religious person but do take part in Christmas because much of my family is Christian. I love the holiday spirit that goes around at this time, just seems to put everyone in a better mood. Merry Christmas Rob and to the rest of the playing card forum community! Enjoy the holidays!

I remember CBJ/Jason lives not too far from Toronto - I'm going to try hailing him by email.

Yeah, his facebook stated he has been without power as well. He has been posting updates here and there when he can find a connection.

As you may know, there are quite a few members of this board based out of Ontario, including the Dawsons and Lee. I haven't watched much news on it but I did come across this video.

Hopefully everything gets sorted out alright, a bit of a downer right before Christmas. Apparently some people have had no power for almost an entire day now.

I agree that them wanting you to pay for postage again, if you did add the extra items to your order, is a bit insane. In your Ellusionist account, where it shows your orders, are the bonus items listed? Because the order history should show if you did add the items to your cart or not.

Edit: moved to Talk Park since it's not a specifically playing card related topic

Haha I began to read it and then was like this really can't be worth my time. I figured that if it was related, somebody along the way would explain what I was missing out on and then I would catch the gist of things lol I guess I don't need to worry about it now. Shall I delete my last post or edit it to remove the quote of his? It then removes his advertising correct?

Yes, editing your post would remove his appearance on the board.

Umm… What is this?

Nothing to see here :p he's gone.

Already 64% funded. I like the simplicity of the deck, but not enough to drop 20 bucks for one of them. I don't really understand the appeal of clothing with a name of a deck on it.... seems weird to me. I enjoyed the video, they made it a bit more of a show than just asking for backers.

Also, bit coin is dropping out. I read an article last week from the LA times I believe, that they are beginning to crash and are not worth as much as they used to be. I assume they will return to startup price eventually. I don't have a full grasp of bit coin so I cannot say much on the topic, I'm just stating what I read about them from the times. I was curious if I should get some money together and invest in it, but I saw a couple of people relate it to pyramid schemes and ponzi schemes. I would much rather keep my penny's under my mattress =p

I have followed bitcoin pretty closely for the last little while, it is an extremely complex thing. No one really has an exact final value of the platform but I have a hard time believing it will completely drop to pennies. It is very debatable topic and would take hours to go over but I think that there is a place in the world for cryptocurrency. As for the price dropping, prices have dropped > 50% multiple times and bounced back, even grew. I remember back in the summer when it hit $250 and people were saying it would never get higher... now look at it $700-1200 depending on the day of the week.

Sure, it's definitely a risky investment but the payoff has been and could still be enormous. Heck, I only invested a small amount a couple weeks ago (granted I moved most of it to Litecoin, a different cryptocurrency, and made a ROI of 350% in a week. I am not saying I know it's going to be worth hundreds of thousands per coin, I am just saying that it's as easy to say that as it is to say it's going to nothing, every financial expert has differing opinions.

As for the question, my answer isn't too different from Alex's

I would set aside a fair amount to guarantee a comfortable lifestyle, even if I was to lose the rest. Much of it would go into investments of various sorts and various risks. Max out my Tax Free Savings Account and use that for some high risk investment, since gains in that account are not taxed. It would take me ages to decide what to actually buy, since I tend to be very critical of my purchases. As Alex said, I would really enjoy helping those out who are in need and tipping wait staff well, the thought of that just makes me happy.
