Magical Cardistry Bonanza / Piff the Magic Dragon's Performance
« on: May 29, 2015, 09:05:59 PM »
After watching his performance, I remembered that his trick looks very familiar. He makes a prediction, forces the wrong card, and changes the card into his prediction. I have a feeling this trick is from theory11, but I wasn't able to find it. Any assistance?

Playing Card Plethora / Karnival Dose Redux Deck - Insane Price Value
« on: December 19, 2014, 11:38:55 AM »
http://www.ebay.com/itm/V002-Bicycle-Karnival-Dose-Redux-Limited-Edition-Playing-Cards-In-Foil-Tuck-Case-/200986990361?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2ecbc21719

Looking at this eBay link, this deck from Karival seemingly goes for around $200. Seeing as it has been sold exactly 26 times, someone is paying insane prices for this deck that costs more than the limited edition Ellusionist and/or theory11 decks combined.

What do you guys think?

Playing Card Plethora / Playing Card Close-Ups - Guess the Deck
« on: December 20, 2013, 12:16:42 AM »
So, recently I pledged for a portable macro lens (to be used with smartphones) via Kickstarter. Their company is called Easy-Macro, and their lens arrived about week ago. However, it arrived cracked, so they kindly sent me another one. So, I currently I have two attachable macro lenses for my Galaxy S4.

THE POINT IS: I am now able to take incredible close-up (macro) shots of practically anything. One day, I sat down with a playing card and began to examine its intricacies. I've taken some pictures that I would like to share with you guys. If you'd like to request any particular deck, I'd be happy to.

So, can anyone guess what this deck is?

(Sorry for the apparent distortion, adequate lighting is a bit of a issue when your camera is centimeters away from the object your capturing.)

Hope you guys enjoy! :))

Playing Card Plethora / Playing Cards Made Not From Paper
« on: November 16, 2013, 07:24:59 PM »
This idea came into my mind when I backed the Hardwood Playing Cards from Biblot Games.

The idea grew when, finally, my sampler pack game from them and also when I saw another Kickstarter project marketing playing cards created from carbon fiber.

What are your opinions on this new style of creating playing cards from materials other than paper and plastic? This new perspective offers many benefits, but also some disadvantages. Personally, I love how artists are venturing out of the norm to test the limits of card creation, and am highly excited to see what others can create next.

With that, where do you think creators will take this concept? What Ideas to you want to be possibly created during your lifetime?

I am an experienced seller both on The Discourse and on eBay. I am listing a brand new, sealed brick of playing cards, starting at only $15. That comes out to less than half the cost of a regular deck from your local retailer. Don't miss out on this awesome deal for a brick of cards. If you have any questions, you may personal message me here or on eBay. Thanks!

Deck Reviews! / {TXT} - Bicycle Silver Vision Deck Review
« on: February 16, 2013, 08:26:21 PM »
I was meaning to do a review on this deck much sooner, but wanted to wait until United Cardists was back up again. Since it now looks like that isn't going to happen very much, ladies and gentlemen, I now present you with a review of the silver Bicycle Vision deck.

Appearance

Box: The front is stadard, with the Ace of Spades, Bicycle logo, Vision logo (in metallic ink), and an image of the back design faded in the background. One side  states "Air-Cushion Finish" and "Made in the U.S.A." The other side says "Seeing is Just the Beginning". The top of the box says "Silver Edition", and the bottom has all the copyright information along with a QR code. The back of the box has the back design in metallic ink, while the flap has another logo. It also comes with a black seal.

Deck: The back design is nicely remade, with a metallic remix of the previous Vision back design. The back design also has a fading thin border to add to the mystery. The fonts and pips of the deck are also a nice change from your "Standard" decks. They have more curvature to them and are also thinner. The red pips have a darker tint to it, and the court cards have a simpler coloration with no borders. As seen in the pictures on a previous thread, the silver colors on the court cards are in metallic ink.

Handling andthensome
The handling is great, something you'd expect out of a typical deck with an Air-Cushion finish. Then again, that is just out of the box, as I did not break the deck in yet. The thin borders make fans look amazing and unique. I do not believe the deck has a one-way back, so, if you're a magician, take that as you will.
With that being said, there is one weak point I find in the deck, but I have a feeling it only applies to me. I am not overly fond of the metallic theme. It's absolutely not just with this deck, as I wasn't really excited with the release of the silver Split Spades. I'm just assuming grey isn't one of my favorite colors.

In the end, I will have to give this deck a fabulous fours stars because of the amazing effort put into customization, opposed to just the average decks put out nowadays.

If you have any questions, please feel free to post them now below, send me a personal message, or contact the company adviser directly at this email address: shingkai (dot) chia (at) gateway-e (dot) com

The Conversation Parlor / Superbowl Sunday
« on: February 02, 2013, 04:44:08 PM »
With Superbowl XLVII literally just around the corner, this year's Superbowl pits the San Francisco 49er's against the Baltimore Ravens. As a resident of the central-California region, I have my full support towards San Francisco. My former P.E. teacher is after all a retired 49er's player.

So, with that being said, who are you rooting for and who do you think will win this Superbowl.

Although this sport is mainly celebrated in America, I have heard that they do have international telecasts, so international members, who are you rooting for?

This thread posts one simple question: What are the best deck combinations you wish existed?

These variations can affect design, performance, ect.

To start things off, I love to see a Gold Artifice.
How about you?
