Playing Card Plethora / Re: Post Your Collection / Your Newest Acquisitions
« on: November 17, 2015, 02:19:32 PM »
My family and I have been cleaning up my Aunt's house and we found a box of cards in an end table. Nothing really spectacular, just thought I'd share what was found. I'm not sure what year any of these were printed but i'm happy to add them to my collection.

Included are:

A Bicycle 808. The AoS has T 1610 printed on it and it's in very good condition. Has all 52 and tuck, but no jokers or seal on tuck.

A Maverick deck. It has 52 cards, no jokers, and no tuck. They are in fair conditon.

A deck called Gypsy Witch. It is in almost new condition. Complete deck with 2 instruction booklets. It was printed by the USPCC.

A Steamboat 999 deck. It is in really good condition and is a complete deck but there's no tuck.

I think the price and limit also has something to do with it. These are expensive decks right out of the gate. I'm very interested in checking out the black stock too. My gut feeling is they should be pretty good, I don't think Lotrek would make an attempt at these without having faith in the stock. Time will tell of course.

I would consider the price and limit of this deck comparable to gilded decks. I like gilded decks as much as the next collector but they're getting a bit too standard for me. I liked them b/c they were an added bonus to amazing decks but they've lost their allure with every creator/project doing them. Black stock is different and I would like to see more in the future. I just hope it doesn't become like gilded decks.

I've got a feeling these half brick boxes are going to become a new staple for projects in the future.

Launching in the next few days on KS, probably MPC printer though.

I hope this gets a higher quality treatment than MPC. While MPC has improved quite a bit. This kind of charming screams for a Legends print run. :))

Natalia is planning on having these delivered by Christmas. MPC is more likely the printer. I think I saw that's it's only going to be a 20 day campaign.

If you bring back the little dash that goes in the middle of an E then it might be worth it.

I completely agree. Without the dash in the E, it's just a C. Can't see pledging for this deck at all, as is.

I nominate the boardwalk papers brick box. I do t have a pic on hand but I can get one if anyone needs to see it. I really like the deck tuck and the brick box.

May you all have a merry Christmas and a happy New year.

Well he'll, why don't we get a group together and get a group discount.

Looks like another 12 hour drive. Looks like I'll be scheduled to work those dates if I stay on this schedule. I'll have to make sure to work it out to get those days off.

I nominate The Aquila deck Diptych.

Do you recall which deck had the diptych?  I recall that only one of them had it, while the other had an extra joker with a reveal on it: "THE ARTS" instead of "THE MYTH", and the font used also made it look like "7HEARTS".

I wonder if anyone's going to nominate that one for the "reveal card" category?

The Limited Edition deck has a diptych and a QoC with the 5oH in one hand. The standard edition does have the two jokers you mentioned but also has a gaff card, the AoD with the gaff being the three card back.

Starting Dec 5th, The Theory11 Wheel is Back!

WOOT! I love the wheel, I think that was one of thebest promo's last year  :D

What made it rock was the fact that you didn't have to make a purchase to get a crack at it - you got one free spin per day.  As long as that's still the case, then yes, WOOT indeed!

from what I just saw on the official rules, yes, there will be one free spin daily and each item purchased will add another spin.

Ok, nobody post anything for 9 days. lmao. I only chose that date b/c it's my bday. Congratulations to whoever wins.

I'm not interested in the box at all. It's a good way to force people to buy a box that holds only 6 decks. I'm just gonna wait for them to release just decks.

There is no throat cutting in a successfully funded project. It's not about a big funding number. It's about an efficient workable business model. The days of big multiple deck projects are gone I I think.
Just because it's not over 100k, does it mean it's a failure. My past projects were beasts to handle and also BEASTS to pay for.
That's definitely understandable. I didn't consider how much more work there was with a bigger funded project. I'm just kinda disappointed that there's not a more economical version( standard edition ) with this project. I'm not complaining though.

Is this type of project what we can expect to see in the future( single LE deck with special editions of that deck )?

I can understand that you tried creating a "staple" deck that was affordable and many complained about and that a majority of your fans want LE deck, but why such an extreme? The majority of your decks funded well over 100k with a single print run but you have never had a project with only LE decks. Aren't you cutting your own throat by limiting the amount of funding you could get by not completely limiting the decks? I'm sure you're making plenty with the prices you're charging but having a standard deck, you could fund higher.

I'm in for a standard/gilded pair. I can't say I like the pricing( definitely a bit high) but I can say he isn't making anything off shipping this go around. Nice decks and he hit the nail on the head with limiting the availability of these and funding quickly. I don't think he's added all available decks to the campaign yet though.

Gonna throw my vote in for option A. I know you've said before that most of your fan base wants to ultra limited decks but I for one prefer lower costs to lower quantities.

Anyone have any idea how "limited" these will be? Anyone wanna guess how much these will cost...8, 12, 20 a deck?

I got my Sharp decks today. Does anyone know how to learn the marking system? Was I supposed to get an email or discover it for myself?

Its not a marking system. Its a recolor. Email LPCC and they should send you the answer key. I remember reading that it typically takes up to six hours for your eyes to adjust to the discoloring.

Very nice acquisitions there my friend, gratz........

I do have one question, I know my eyes are getting old and I find myself reaching for my "Cheaters" more and more, but that is an over sized Monarch is it not? Or is it time to get my eyes checked again, lol

I believe that's the case for the 4 pack monarch set sold on T11.

here's the link: https://store.theory11.com/products/monarch-four-pack

Design & Development / Re: Is it Just Me, or is Something Wrong?

Personally "Limited Edition" has become $$$$ in many eyes. There are several people, including companies, that buy all they can get there hands on for resell purposes. The resell market is kinda faltering, IMO, at the moment due to the dozens of designs coming out. People either aren't able or aren't willing pay to the high prices for the moment. This will probably change around mid-February to March when everyone is getting tax returns. I'm willing to bet there will be a surge on decks again.

Artists are trying to make better and better decks, ex. Lotrek's Gold Venexiana. This serves as example of both limited and design. These were a limited run of only 212 decks(200 released) and made with actual Gold foil. These decks cost $100 each and are worth it, IMO not because they're limited but because of how beautiful they are. I was really surprised when they didn't resell for $200-300.
