I'm looking for the below reproduction deck produced for EPCS 25th anniversary in 2009
http://www.wopc.co.uk/epcs/metastasis-transformation-playing-cards,-1811

There's one on ebay that's a bit expensive, however if someone has one they'd be willing to sell please let me know. I'm open to negotiation but I'll start my offer at £50.

Note: I'm posting this in both the Pasteboard Bazaar and Aces and Eights as although its technically a modern deck, the nature of the original will likely be of interest to collectors of older decks.

Thanks

The Conversation Parlor / UK General Election
« on: May 07, 2015, 06:46:44 AM »
So it's election day here in the UK, any other brits here like to make a guess as to the outcome? Or indeed anyone else that may have been keeping up with the campaigns for whatever reason?

I'll make the controversial estimate of a hung parliament resulting in Conservative with a supply and demand agreement with UKIP. Or, a remote possibility of a minority conservative government with a swift change of leadership to Boris Johnson. If Labour get in then a third of the country should be charged with treason!

EDIT: FYI if you don't know what the hell I'm on about, There are 3 major parties who discuss their policies here
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VE5HFj-qCdg

The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, is earmarked as a potential successor to the current conservative PM, David Cameron. He's a bit daft, very British (in a fawlty towers kind of way) and extremely popular.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BXy__5whR5c

Then there's UKIP, our resident Nazi party who are gaining momentum. They want us out of the EU and don't like foreigners. Their leader, Nigel Farage, is a joke.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lGI_kRNvI0k

EDIT EDIT:

There are other parties but no one takes them seriously because they're either making ludicrous promises that they can't keep, or they're Scottish.

Next deck using impressions technology from MPC. This time with foiled backs. I just wish they'd do a nice tuckbox than giant MPC lettering they have been using.

Deck Reviews! / [TXT] Eleventh Pier
« on: February 19, 2015, 05:06:14 AM »
Fes put me onto this deck recently and after spending some time with it I am pretty much in love. Sure, the cards don't handle well and are printed on unlaminated card stock, but the overall 'feel' of the artwork is great. For a great deal of us Brits who spent our childhood summers in sleepy coastal towns climbing harbour walls and riding funfairs on the pier this deck is full of great memories. I'm not sure exactly what it is about it but the feeling of nostalgia is captured fantastically.

I have posted some images and further information and opinions on my site here > http://www.magasaki.com/#!eleventh-pier/c5ba

Playing Card Plethora / Buskers by Erik Mana (KS) 2nd try
« on: February 14, 2015, 04:13:55 AM »
Couldn't see a topic for this yet but Erik Mana has a new deck coming out called buskers. It draws inspiration from his experiences travelling around Eastern Canada with other performers working different festivals. The deck is available in 2 colours, has a full bleed back and custom courts. It will launch on Kickstarter on the 21st February.

Erik was kind enough to share some of his fascinating stories from the times that inspired this deck with me which you can read about here.

The Conversation Parlor / Music tastes
« on: January 28, 2015, 03:49:33 AM »
So what music do you guys all like, specifically which bands are awesome live? I'm a bit of a gig buff and slipknot's arena tour happened to stop off at a venue 2 mins away from my work last night. Have to say it was one of the most amazing arena gig's I've ever been to, seen them at festivals before but never indoors. Would definitely recommend them! :t11:

The Conversation Parlor / Feedback on project
« on: January 19, 2015, 04:41:38 AM »
Hi guys,

I put this in the conversation parlor as although it's design and development, it isn't playing card related but I wanted to share some of our work with you guys and hopefully get some feedback.

First of all a bit of background. Myself and my other half, Maria, are currently working for architectural practices in the UK and have our own small studio that we have set up to complete private commissions, something that we are looking to move into full time when Maria starts her PHD in around 18 months time.

Apart from the usual residential projects we are really hoping to develop the brand into something less typical and have undertaken some artwork commissions to develop our portfolio - the latest of which you can see the work in progress of below. We have been asked by a professor in HK university to work on a book cover for his latest book which maps his teaching methods and the learning journey of his students during PHD research. It would be great to hear what you guys think of the progress.

I have also included a few other images of some more conceptual architectural pieces and more can be seen on the site a www.designsharp.co.uk (which needs a good overhaul). I am hoping that this summer I may get enough time to start working on a concept towards a deck of cards so will keep you posted when we start on it.
